formats into either a bitmap, SVG or Web-safe font that utilizes the “@font-face” rule of the CSS3 specification. A font generator creates fonts usually for use on websites or other presentation media.
A font generator is typically used by Web designers who want to have unique fonts on the websites that they are creating. In the days of HTML1 or 2 and CSS1, it was often hard to have unique fonts because the technology simply was not there. Developers were forced to use system default fonts to ensure that everyone could view the same fonts – if developers use non-standard fonts and the user does not have the specific font installed, then the font is reverted to system defaults anyway. To get around this, developers use bitmap or SVG fonts that have been created by a font generator to ensure that there is no reliance on system default fonts.
