1000 hp Power All Wheel Drive, SF90 Stradale The car of many ‘firsts’
Ferrari has finally introduced the SF90 Stradale, its first plug-in hybrid model. Winning the title of the most powerful Ferrari ever with 1000 hp, the Stradale is not just a V12; The V8 is powered by the engine.
Referring to the 90th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari, the SF90 Stradale is powered by a turbo V8 and three electric motors. While the most powerful eight-cylinder engine in the history of the brand produces 780 hp, electrical power complements the remaining 220 hp. The MGU-K (Engine Generator Unit – Kinetic) used in Formula 1 cars is positioned between the V8 and the new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and powers the rear axle with the V8. The other two electric motors drive the front axle.
As you can see, the SF90 Stradale represents a first with four-wheel drive as well as a hybrid layout. Thanks to this, the acceleration performance was kept very strong: 0-100 km / h 2.5; 0-200 km / h takes 6.7 seconds. The maximum speed value is 340 km / h.
It has a kind of torque steering feature called RAC-e on the electrically driven front axle. Two electric motors will be able to transfer the necessary power to the tire needed in the corner.
Hybrid technology increases the weight significantly. To compensate for this, the chassis and bodywork are equipped with lighter materials to save money. The high-power motor, on the other hand, requires more heat rejection. For this reason, Ferrari has included a slot in the body that can provide ample heat output.
