HEIC to JPG Converter — Batch HEIF, PNG, WebP & iPhone Photos
Extension Actions
- ★Featured
Batch convert HEIC and HEIF iPhone photos to JPG, PNG, or WebP. Preserve or strip EXIF, custom rename. 100% offline, no upload.
🔒 Convert HEIC to JPG, PNG, or WebP — entirely in your browser. Batch up to hundreds of files. EXIF metadata preserved (or stripped on demand). No upload, no tracking, no subscription.
📸 WHY THIS EXTENSION
iPhone photos are saved in HEIC and HEIF — formats that don't open on Windows, Android, most websites, or many editing apps. Other HEIC converters either upload your photos to a server, ask for a subscription after a few files, or quietly add tracking. This one doesn't. Drop a file, get a JPG. That's it.
✅ WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Drag and drop one HEIC file or hundreds — folders too
• Pick output: JPG, PNG, or WebP — with per-format quality (50–100%)
• Preserve EXIF metadata (date, camera, GPS) — or strip just GPS, or strip everything
• Custom filename patterns: {name}, {date}, {time}, {index}, {w}, {h}
• Right-click any HEIC image on a webpage → Convert HEIC image to JPG
• Live thumbnails + savings % per file (typical: −70% file size for JPG output)
• Download each file individually, or all at once as a single ZIP
• Works fully offline after install
🍏 BUILT FOR
• iPhone owners who need to share photos to non-Apple ecosystems (Windows, Android, web)
• Content creators converting iPhone photos for blogs, social media, email
• Photographers who need EXIF intact for cataloging
• Anyone who wants to convert HEIC to JPG without uploading anything
⚙️ HOW IT WORKS
1. Click the toolbar icon to open the popup
2. Drag and drop HEIC / HEIF files (or click to browse, or drop a whole folder)
3. The extension converts each file in your browser using a WebAssembly build of libheif
4. Pick a file to download, or "Download all (.zip)" for the whole batch
For one-off conversions while browsing, right-click any HEIC <img> on a webpage and pick "Convert HEIC image to JPG". The converted file lands in your Downloads folder.
🔐 PRIVACY
On May 7, 2026 the Chrome Web Store removed two of the most popular HEIC converters — combined ~100,000 users — for sending browsing data to third-party servers. We built this extension to occupy that gap, deliberately:
• Conversion runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly
• Zero outbound network requests after install (verifiable in DevTools → Network)
• All scripts and the WASM decoder are bundled — nothing fetched at runtime
• No analytics, no telemetry, no error reporting, no version-check pings
• No accounts, no subscription, no upgrade prompts
🎯 PERMISSIONS, JUSTIFIED
• downloads — to save converted files to your Downloads folder
• storage — to remember your output format, quality, EXIF policy and filename pattern
• contextMenus — for the right-click "Convert HEIC image to JPG" entry
• activeTab + scripting — to read the bytes of the HEIC image you right-click on the current page (granted only on user gesture, no background access)
• offscreen — required by Manifest V3 to use Image/Canvas in the background
We deliberately do NOT request: <all_urls>, tabs, cookies, history, identity.
🆚 HOW THIS COMPARES
Most HEIC converters available today:
• Lose EXIF metadata (date, camera, GPS) — we keep it by default with a one-click toggle to strip
• Don't support WebP output — we do (typically 25–35% smaller than JPG)
• Don't show savings % or thumbnails — we render both per file
• Don't allow custom filename patterns — we expose date / time / index / dimension tokens
• Pop a subscription after a handful of files — ours is fully free, every feature included
🧪 SUPPORTED FILES
• HEIC and HEIF (single-image)
• Live Photos and HEIC sequences — first frame is extracted automatically
• Output: JPG (.jpg), PNG (.png), WebP (.webp)
• No file size limit beyond your machine's RAM (tested with 50+ MB phone photos)
• Works on Mac, Windows, Linux, Chromebook — anywhere Chrome runs
