Simplify is a extension that helps English learners read original texts without friction. It uses AI to instantly rewrite complex English paragraphs into simpler vocabulary — so you can read anything, anywhere.

📖 Core Features

• One-Click Simplification — Press the shortcut (default Ctrl) or double-click any paragraph on any webpage to simplify it. Results appear inline with a typewriter streaming effect, displayed alongside the original with changed words highlighted.

• Four Difficulty Levels — Choose from CEFR A2 (Basic), B1 (Pre-Intermediate), B2 (Intermediate), and C1 (Advanced). The settings page includes side-by-side examples so you can see exactly how each level differs.

• Built-in E-book Reader — Upload .txt or .epub files and read with pagination, table of contents, adjustable font size, and light/dark themes. Shortcut and double-click simplification work inside the reader too.

• Native Language Detection — Automatically detects the language of each paragraph. Content in your native language (e.g., Chinese) is skipped and displayed as-is without triggering the API.

• Multi-Language Output — Simplified text can be output in English, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean to suit different learning goals.

• Multi-Model Support — Works with DeepSeek, OpenAI, Moonshot, or any custom OpenAI-compatible API endpoint. Simply bring your own API key — it is stored locally in your browser and sent directly to your chosen provider.

• Customizable Shortcut — Record any key combination (Ctrl / Alt / Shift / Meta + key) with a single click in the settings panel.

• Internationalized UI — The settings page and popup automatically switch between English and Chinese based on your language preference.

🔒 Privacy
This extension does NOT collect any user data. Your API key is stored locally in your browser. Simplification requests are sent directly to your configured AI provider. No analytics or tracking code is included.
