Description from store Stax is a second-generation HIT automation tool for Amazon MTurk designed from the ground up to create a streamlined workflow experience. A ridiculous amount of time is wasted looking for work. Stax aims to reduce or eliminate that, allowing workers to focus on the parts that require an actual person at the wheel. Features - Accept HITs whose requesters meet minimum custom standards - Built-in load balancer to reduce rate limit errors and maximize HITs watched - Manage HITs from an automatically synced queue - Filter HITs with one click by ID or requester, or by text description - Return multiple (or all) HITs at once - Activity tracker and hourly wage calculator - Custom themes Is It Legit? Yes. Stax does not violate Amazon MTurk's Terms of Service because it does not complete HITs for you. Stax can be thought of as the logical next step from the current script ecosystem. HIT scrapers and HIT grabbers have existed for a long time now; Stax only combines the two into an integrated easy-to-use package. Other features of Stax, such as the enhanced queue management, are also allowed by Amazon MTurk. Permissions Stax's permissions are required for it to function. Feel free to check the source code if you are concerned about abuse. At this time, Stax does not "phone home" or transmit your data to a server. If this changes, such features will be entirely opt-in. Contributing Stax is hosted on GitLab, a free git platform. Feature requests and bug reports are welcome. The more detail you provide, the more likely it is to be fixed or added. If the feature already exists in another script and you want it to be integrated into Stax, provide a link to the script as well as a brief description of what it does. Don't want to create a GitLab account? No problem. DM me on Reddit: /u/StructByLightning or send me an email at [email protected]. Contributors Raven Schultz (primary developer) License Stax is licensed under GPL3. See LICENSE.md for more information.

Latest reviews

  • (2021-08-12) Brian Daniel: I have downloaded and redownloaded the extension and it's missing the blacklist tab. Why?
  • (2021-07-03) Jose Early: Major thanks to the maker of this very helpful, free tool. The only major thing it is missing is integration with the new TurkerView reviews. There are now substantially more TV ratings than TO, and I'm afraid the life of Stax is limited if it only sticks to TO ratings. Still, valuable contribution to the MTurk community.
  • (2021-01-21) Joe Miranda: This is an amazing extension that has more than tripled my production on Mturk. All around a great tool full of all the options that are needed to increase earnings on Mturk. I honestly don't know how this is a free tool as it is probably one of the most powerful tools to use on Mturk. Thank you devs for developing this and giving this to us for free. You are awesome! I highly recommend anyone looking to increase their earnings potential on Mturk to give Stax a try. You won't be disappointed.
  • (2020-07-13) Zippy09: This app has become too popular and has now ruined the ability to grab any new HIT's. As of me writing this Stax has 877 users. While I enjoyed this app from the start it has now come to the point to where its next to impossible to make my daily goal even when using this tool to its fullest potential. This app creates an unfair competition that gives the person with the lowest ping the highest chances of grabbing the HIT while a person like myself who lives in a rural area gets in last every time.
  • (2019-12-27) jeff archacki: I've been using it for quite some time without a hitch. I'm sometimes concerned about TOS violation but that hasn't happened as of yet. I don't use it for batches, just single higher-paying hits so maybe that has something to do with it. While it has not proven to be a cash cow, my income from Mechanical Turk has increased about 20% or so. My favorite thing is that I can run it and walk away from the computer because I can't put everything in panda crazy. I wish it had a way to connect to TO or TV to filter out requesters with high rejection rates but I can live with that. Since I don't do that many hits, I usually check the requester reviews before doing one. It has enabled me to catch some pretty high-paying hits, I just hope the acts doesn't fall from a TOS violation. The one downside to using software like this is that if enough people start using it, it will no longer be effective. There is an auto grabber available on Turkerview but it's hard to find that has a cost. I have not heard of any TOS violations with that one.
  • (2018-11-19) Chives Evil: Works for the most part. Could probably use some overall refinement since it feels a tad messy. Occasionally i'll have my settings and filters reset when I exit my browser which is quite annoying. Don't buy into any of the scare tactics about getting banned for using it. This comes from people who have tried to keep scripts like this confined to small communities for their own benefit.
  • (2018-09-18) G D: I love this app/extention. No issues here from me. I had a question/suggestion. Is there a way to keep a requester from being added to the blacklist? For example, C-SATS post batches all the time and once you catch one it seems like it wont catch another until you remove it manually from the blacklist. Is there a way to EXCLUDE a requester from the black list?
  • (2018-08-26) BestMMAVids: Nice tool! Thanks for creating. The only issue is accepting the same hit multiple times. All the other scripts that are similar to this are paid services and you have to jump through hoops to get them. Look forward to future releases. Also, you should set up a donation link.
  • (2018-08-25) Ben Brown: Contains code that could be used to violate mTurk ToS at any point.
  • (2018-08-25) UK Cats: If the ToS violation Salem Beats is referring to is completion of captchas, this is fixed in version 0.0.0.2 according to: https://www.reddit.com/r/mturk/comments/9a8d5j/stax_a_second_generation_mturk_automation_tool/
  • (2018-08-25) Cuyler Stuwe: Violates mTurk TOS.

  • (2020-04-26, v:1.2.3) Jay Gee: Does Stax violate Mturk's TOS?
I've started using Stax and I really like it, but some posters on Reddit say it violates Amazon's TOS. Is that the case? They didn't provide any facts to back up their claims though. Mturk is all I have right now so I can't afford to get booted. Thanks for your help.

  • (2019-01-07, v:1.2.2) Anthracite: ...
Yes but Im asking for or requesting a white-list like option i suppose the single block option is GREAT but it would be nice if we could tie a set of requester Id's to it that shouldn't be blocked and grabbed repeatedly
  • (2019-01-02, v:1.2.2) Anthracite: batches
option to grab batches ? notice it blacklist after an accept and some of them you want it to grab many times
  • (2018-12-07, v:1.2.1) G D: since the new updates

  • (2018-10-26, v:1.1.3) Stax doesn't seem to update at all with Linux Chromium 52, works ok on Opera 45 (derived from Chromium)
I wanted to use Stax on Chromium (version 52), because of an Opera sound issue. But while it installs and loads, it doesn't update at all, never builds a list of HITS. Is there a Chromium toggle or permission that's in the way?
  • (2018-10-13, v:1.1.3) Jay: Import blacklist from MTS
I see an 'experimental' export blacklist to MTS. What about an import blacklist from MTS? I'd imagine most Turkers have an extensive blacklist already built up that they'd like to use for Stax.
