Caret
Extension Actions
Underlines spelling and grammar mistakes as you type, anywhere in Edge. Fix them from a hover card, or let it autocorrect.
Caret marks spelling, grammar, punctuation and capitalization mistakes in any text box on any site — e-mail, forms, comment boxes, rich editors — and fixes them in one click.
WHAT IT CATCHES
• Spelling — a 376,000-word dictionary and 4,000 known typos, with suggestions ranked by how common each word really is. "recieved" becomes "received".
• Grammar — confused words (their/there, could of/could have), verb forms, subject-verb agreement, a/an, and the capitals people actually miss: "i saw sarah on monday" becomes "I saw Sarah on Monday", and a slipped shift key turns "DOes" back into "Does".
• Punctuation — missing apostrophes, spaces in the wrong place, doubled marks, decades that never needed an apostrophe.
• Clarity — wordy stock phrases and things said twice, offered as a suggestion rather than a scolding.
Each kind gets its own colour, so you can see at a glance whether something is a typo or a real mistake. Hover an underline for the reason and the fix, or click the count in the corner of the box to see everything at once, with a "fix all" for the unambiguous ones.
IT NEVER REWRITES YOU
Caret suggests a word, or at most a short phrase. Nothing changes until you click it, and every fix is an ordinary edit you can undo with Ctrl+Z. Your voice stays your voice.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
The dictionary and every rule live inside the extension and run in your browser. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no server. What you type is not stored, not logged and not transmitted.
One optional exception, switched off until you turn it on: add your own Anthropic API key and Caret can ask Claude for a second opinion on the field you are writing in. Even then it only runs when you ask for it, it is capped to a number of checks you choose, and password fields, card numbers and anything key-shaped are never sent.
MADE TO FIT YOU
• Switch whole categories off — turn the clarity suggestions off if you find them preachy.
• Add your own words: surnames, jargon, your company or school.
• Silence it on particular sites, like a code editor or an internal tool.
• Straight underlines, or the classic wavy ones.
• Alt+G opens the suggestion for the word at the cursor, so you never need the mouse.
Free, with nothing to buy and nothing to subscribe to.
New in 1.1.0: optional autocorrect — turn it on in Settings and Caret fixes i → I, dont → don't, and sentence capitals as you type. Off by default.

- It is Really good. It does miss some stuff but you can adjust it how you like. Also you can make it auto proof read with Ai if you have it. Really good job!
