It keeps blocking websites without a timer on which is very much annoying, and once I managed to turn on the timer but it didn't block anything when I wanted it to. The website itself is incredibly shakey, literally, it keeps doing this shaking motion and doesn't stay still at all, when it finally lets me open the page it in the first place. I used to really like this app, before it was very good and very helpful.
  • (2020-08-27) King Tunip: It used to work.... Now i guess because o an update it wont block any social media sights
  • (2020-02-19) Christopher Goodroe: As someone who has very bad tendencies, when I blocked Youtube, it only blocked the home page. I could get on everything else. The timer went up and it won't stop blocking the sites. I'm about to uninstall.
  • (2020-01-26) Esteban Relei: It's nice but sometimes it blocks sites that I haven't added to the list.
  • (2020-01-09) Kristen Layne: I've been using this for a few years now, but this week it appears to have quit blocking sites that I've added to my list. Not sure what's happened but it's very disappointing! Also, like many of the other users, I hate the popup when the timer's up - for a programme that is supposed to help you avoid distractions, adding a distraction is counter-productive!
  • (2019-09-20) Cara M: I never could have guessed this app would be so poorly designed. I downloaded it and added tumblr to my blocklist for a few minutes to test it out, then opened a new tab. the new tab immediately opened a "blocked by citrus" page. I tried to go to my email, "blocked by citrus". this add-on blocks all webpages indiscriminately. worse of all, it's a pain to uninstall because citrus was also blocking my chrome settings! do yourself and favor and get a different add-on. the only thing outstanding about this one is how many ways it's terrible.
  • (2019-07-25) Admiral Lion Heart: Hey David, you built a great app! I hope you keep it alive! I pray to God he does something else rather than shutting it down. This is a very very good Premium app. For Families that want to control and monitor their kids or teenagers, this app is worth paying $5 and $5 that's cheap! I would like to see the author instead of shutting down the app, that he would add-in these extra features and add these to the premium versions of citrus. And giving some of these features, not all to the free side as limited editions. 1: IM add-on. (I am a Trillian user, and it would be nice to see, the option to insert a Trillian IM login screen on every citrus blocked page so it has a double function for blocked pages. Also this feature could be turned off of swapped out with another feature of choice.) 2: Built in history log for website searches, image searches, to compete with "Secure Teen Android App" which allows you to monitor what your family is watching, and block pages from the main control panel and in this case it would be the main control panel from citrus. 3: Mobile notifications and alerts that are sent out based on certain blocked pages that are listed in a blocked page notification list. So when that page is accessed, a mobile notification is sent out and warns the family admin. 4: Threat Targets & Blocked Pages Community Tab where it displays a list of most common blocked pages by citrus users, giving users an easier faster way to block pages before they go to those pages. 5: Customization Sound Alarms that can be pre-setup based on certain notification events or just a random alarm or stop watch. 6: Feed import tab (Allows you to import a feed which can help bypass web useage. Optional) 7: Team Communication and Management (Allows Citrus to be run by a team rather than a family and helps exchange feedback based on website research and usage with citrus.) These are just some of the things I believe citrus can do to make citrus better. I hope David takes these into consideration before shutting down the app altogether, but I can understand why, because of poisonous feedback and complainers who do not fully test the product. Thanks. ~ Lion Heart
  • (2019-06-10) riah: Does what it's supposed to do, except sometimes I don't get the pop-up saying that the block has been lifted after the timer runs out. This results in the extension continuing to block my websites, so I constantly have to uninstall and reinstall the app to be able to use the websites I temporarily blocked.
  • (2019-04-02) vasker: It used to be so good, and I would have rated it 5 stars if I rated it back then. It used to be fantastic, simple and always working. Now, with the new update, it's below all criticism. It doesn't even work 50% of the time, the UI is terrible, it requires more permissions and so much more can be said. I had to uninstall this add-on and use a better one (forest).
  • (2019-03-23) Joseph Jong Chan Lee: The update sucks. It's complicated. It makes me sign up for an account? And then ask to upgrade to pro?? what the heck? This extension was so simple and easy to use. Now it's complicated. I uninstalled the app. And i was not satisfied. So i reinstalled it to leave this review and I will uninstall it again.
  • (2019-03-18) This used to be a fantastic and easy to use add-on, but since the update it's awful. The new user interface is cumbersome, but the real problem is that it doesn't work all the time. Sometimes, a blocked site will still be accessible when running an activity, other times every single site that I try to open will be blocked even if it isn't on my list of blocked sites, and sometimes websites will be blocked when I'm not even running an activity! I've been forced to uninstall this add-on and go with a competitor. Please revert Citrus back to what it used to be!
  • (2019-03-09) Chloe Weir: I used this extension faithfully for 2-3 years. The new version is absolute garbage. It's not only that I'm resisting change, it's that the simplicity I needed and loved is completely gone. Everything about this overhaul is misguided and poorly thought out. I appreciate that creator wanted to make some money, but this isn't the way. Before, I would have recommended this extension to everyone I know (I did, actually.) Now, I wouldn't waste my breath. EDIT: Now it's not just that features are useless and annoying. It's actually broken/dysfunctional. I found out I can get onto my blocked sites by clicking links to those sites. Now, it doesn't even block at all, even if I set it. Such a disappointment, when the old product worked perfectly.
  • (2019-03-07) Sarah Marshall: All of your updates have been inexplicably bad since you insisted on having users create accounts. I can't even start a timer now without being redirected to sign up for Citrus plus?? Are you kidding?? You're supposed to help me save time, not waste time. Uninstalling
  • (2019-01-20) Guy Pe'er: After the update the extension is blocking my blocklist all the time, without turning the timer on
  • (2019-01-19) Dylan Epstein-Gross: I can't believe how poorly executed this update is. I loved the Citrus of before but now literally everything is wrong. The speed and simplicity of entering sites into a blocklist is replaced with a confusing UI and Dashboard. No one wanted this! Additionally, now blocking doesn't even seem to work. I block a website, it says the website is currently being blocked, then I go to the website and it's unblocked. The extension is completely broken, and none of the "fixes" that have been implemented after this update seem to have done anything. The only reason I would keep using Citrus now is if it was reverted completely back to its original form.
  • (2019-01-17) Andrew Epstein: The new update has destroyed a very useful and good product. It is confusing, difficult to use, annoying and impossible to set up (and annoying to have to create blocklists all over again), has annoying pop-ups and notifications, has a "dashboard" which is confusing and difficult to navigate. You used to able to click on the icon on the taskbar and it would allow you to put in an amount of time to block the sites on your blocklist. For some inexplicable reason, you now need to go to the difficult to use "dashboard" and put in the time, etc., which adds several steps to something that was efficient and easy to use to begin with. I just can't understand what this update was supposed to be fixing and why it made the app so much worse, and almost unusable. I'm currently looking for a replacement, so if anyone has any suggestions for a comparable app or Chrome extension please let me know.
  • (2019-01-17) Robert Parker: I was fond of Citrus before the new changes. The constant popups to create an account are quite unwelcome. Obvious uninstall. Off to the waste-bin of history with ya, Citrus.
  • (2019-01-15) Vitor: It was a great extension until the most recent update where they force you to create an account. To add to that, if for some reason you decide to keep the extension, it opens a popup prompting you to create an account or login (if you block the popup it just opens a new tab for logging in). For some reason they also decided not to use the user's conveniently available Google account for registering (literally in the browser) and instead made their own frustrating register page (no feedback on what's wrong, needs first/last name and zip code, etc.).
  • (2019-01-15) Kendall Hotchkiss: New update is horrendous. It added too many features and the UX is bad. I had to sign in then the dashboard was just very confusing. I'm deleting the app after this review and finding an new productivity app to block sites.
  • (2019-01-14) Brian Hahn: New upgrade is a total overhaul that keeps asking me to log in when I (begrudgingly) created an account and logged in. Once you log in, it's a convoluted process of creating a "task" you don't want to be distracted from. I just want the old "block this website for this amount of time." Complexity doesn't mean it's worth more! To boot, they have two tiers of users now -- free and $5/mo paid. The free version apparently has ads now? Haven't seen one yet but the description of the free tier suggests it. Ads sound very distracting indeed. Therefore, I will be uninstalling until the devs let me know they rolled it back to what worked. There are other ways to make money, guys.
  • (2019-01-14) GÑpfrslo Ejioup: New update is a horrible inane mess of careless and almost I would think purposely devious development. What a clever way to take something simple and user friendly and turn it into a useless mess by adding a bunch of features that no one asked for, that is, if they even worked; because it's clear they didn't even test it or debug it before launch. Can't even use it properly now and even when I don't have any intention the thing still hijacks my browser every 5 minutes with a insane notification, that I supposedly blocked already, telling me I haven't linked the app and the browser; but, if I try to it fails and tells me to open the extension by clicking on the icon and paste a code, however, when I click on the icon, the extention tells me I haven't logged in. This last thing took me a while because the browser freezes completely when the notification pops up and if you have your browser window maximized, the notification appears outside of the screen so you can't even read it to click the only option available "ok" which brings you to the login screen; except, since I have already logged in, it brings me back to the page where it asks me to link the app and the browser!
  • (2019-01-14) The new update is absolutely horrible, and too in depth. I liked how before you didn't need to make an account to use citrus to block distracting websites.
  • (2019-01-05) Me: Amazing
  • (2018-09-19) Sharly Hestari: very helpfull, thanks :D
  • (2018-08-29) Ikwe Sunday: thanks to the developer of this extension, i absolutely love it
  • (2018-04-11) Sushmit Soni: thanks a lot for availlaing this amazing extension
  • (2018-02-04) Please add a on/off button
  • (2017-03-16) Chipio Industries: Excellent extension, I would highly recommend! This is by far the best thing to ever happen to my schoolwork. If I were to give any feedback, sometimes I have to click the "Go" button twice before it starts, but that's more than likely just a problem on my side. Get this extension!
  • (2017-01-02) Zanolon: Greatest chrome extension, helps me focus all the time
  • (2017-01-02) Godsend and a half. 1 problem is if you accidentally click "Add this site" instead of "View Blocklist" when you're on the site you're SUPPOSED to be on, it's annoying, since you can't unblock it. It would be nice to have a minute or so where you can remove sites after they are added if you have the timer running. Also, whitelist option would be nice.
