Dutch Subtitle Translator

Watch Dutch TV with friends or family who don't speak Dutch, or make Dutch subtitles genuinely readable if you're low-vision. This extension detects the Dutch subtitles already showing on supported streaming sites and overlays a live, fully customizable version on top of the video.

Translate, or just enlarge:
- Translate to English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, or Italian
- Or pick "Dutch only" to skip translation entirely and just show the original subtitles, styled however you need
- Bilingual mode - optionally keep the original Dutch text visible too

Built for accessibility, not just translation:
- Subtitle text scales up to 400% of normal size, far past what a browser's own zoom can do for video subtitles
- One-click "Max readability" preset: largest size, solid black background, full white-on-black contrast
- Adjustable text color, background color/opacity, and font on top of that, if the preset isn't quite right
- Drag the subtitle text anywhere on the video, and it stays fully on-screen even at very large sizes
- Works in fullscreen

Also:
- Automatic subtitle detection, just turn on Dutch subtitles in the player, no configuration needed
- Per-site on/off toggle, plus a keyboard shortcut
- Free to use out of the box; optionally connect your own free DeepL API key for a dedicated, more reliable translation quota

Supported sites: Videoland, KIJK, Play and NPO.

Privacy: only the subtitle text currently on screen is sent to the translation service you've selected (a public Google endpoint by default, or DeepL if you provide your own API key). No browsing history, personal data, or page content beyond that subtitle line is ever read or transmitted. See the full privacy policy for details.
