Overt AI Governance
Extension Actions
- Live on Store
Reports AI tool usage to the Overt agent on this computer. Prompt text is kept only if your organization turns prompt capture on.
Overt gives organizations visibility into how their people use AI tools, so they can adopt AI safely. This extension is part of the Overt endpoint agent, which your IT team installs and manages. It does nothing on its own: it reports to the Overt agent on the same computer, and only on the AI chat websites that Overt's catalog recognizes.
On those sites it reports:
- how long an AI site is the active tab while you're at the computer;
- when a prompt is sent, with its length and how much of it was pasted;
- when files are attached: how many, their total size and types, and for each file its name, type, size and a SHA-256 fingerprint computed on your computer (the file's content is never sent);
- whether a company or personal account is signed in, with the account email's domain only, never the address;
- the prompt's text, which the Overt agent keeps only when your organization has turned prompt capture on, after removing sensitive data (email addresses, phone, card and ID numbers, passwords and keys). Otherwise it's discarded on the computer.
It never reads other websites, your browsing history, keystrokes, AI responses, page content or file contents, and it has no settings for users. Everything goes first to the Overt agent on your computer, which applies your organization's policy and sends the results to your organization's Overt service over TLS 1.3.
The extension requires the Overt agent for macOS or Windows, provided by your organization's IT team. Privacy policy: https://useovert.com/legal/privacy/
