Audio Captions — Private AI Captions

Live Caption adds accurate, private captions to any browser tab — video calls, lecture platforms, YouTube, Netflix, Udemy, and plain audio/video files — without sending your audio anywhere by default.

How it works
- Existing captions first: if the page already exposes subtitles (YouTube, Netflix, Udemy, DASH streams), Live Caption reads them directly — free and instant, no account needed.
- Local transcription: when no subtitles exist, the free Desktop Companion app transcribes tab audio entirely on your device. Nothing leaves your computer.
- Cloud fallback (optional): on machines that can't run the Companion, an entitled Pro/Cloud Pro plan can route short audio chunks through a metered cloud speech engine — clearly labeled in the interface, never chosen silently over the private option.
