Alma is great, but there are little things about it that would be more helpful for our school if they were slightly different.
I love Alma. Their customer support is top-notch (literally the best I've experienced from any product, ever) and their SIS is intuitive, attractive, and easy to learn for administrators, teachers, and parents. Buuuuuuuut, there are always little things that would be nice and they haven't quite gotten around to doing (or don't necessarily fit with their vision for the product). So, Alma+! Here's what Alma+ does... Super-Powered Search: - Type "alma" and a space in the omnibox (location bar) to activate Alma+ SuperSearch in the browser from anywhere. - Use commands to search things other than the directory by using the following as the first word of your search: -- [search] does a default directory search -- [email] searches by email address *Requires API Student -- [locate] or [whereis] searches for where a student is currently located -- [start] or [as] searches Alma Start processes -- [notes] searches Alma Start notes -- [help] searches the Alma help documentation -- [go] searches common Alma pages (try go settings) - You can select a default SuperSearch command in the options - This works on the actual Alma site as well! Alma Start Enhancements - Download PDFs of full processes - Preview uploads on the process review screen - Keep notes concerning applicants - Ability to ignore applicants/enrolled students in searches Attendance Enhancements - Find out which teachers have not yet turned in attendance - Ignore grade levels when checking attendance Messaging Enhancements - Provide a default signature (or template) for your messages - Ability to use HTML in emails Report Card Enhancements - Provide revision comments that are hidden on the actual report cards User Interface Enhancements/Additions - Individual tabs for each Spreadsheet Data Editor - Ability to re-add the support chat to the main Alma site - Freeze gradebook name column even when not in full-screen SETUP INSTRUCTIONS: The most important settings are: 1) subdomain (the part before "getalma.com") 2) API Student UUID To set up the extension, a fake "API Student" needs to be created. They do not need to be actively enrolled, so it shouldn't mess with your numbers. Just enroll them in a future year, or on the last day of school, or whatever. What you need is the bunch of numbers and letters that show up in the URL for their directory page. Without this student created, you can not search by email or store notes for Alma Start.
