Manage and switch between multiple proxy types (SOCKS, PAC, and Direct) with profile support
"Proxy Switcher and Manager" extension brings the power of proxy management to your browser. Using this extension, you can configure your browser to use a proxy server without altering your operating system's network. The toolbar icon indicates the current type of proxy your browser is using (No Proxy Mode (Direct), Auto-detect Proxy Mode, Manual Mode (SOCKS and HTTPS), and PAC Script Mode). The extension is designed such that no resource is used while the panel is closed.
Features:
1. Supports profiles to store multiple proxy servers and switch between them when needed
2. Supports inline PAC script
3. Supports refreshing the PAC script from a remote server
4. Displays failed resources and the reason they failed
5. Supports badge text and toolbar color to differentiate between proxy profiles
Notes:
1. The toolbar icon is an indicator of the current proxy type. Place your mouse over the toolbar button to get more info.
2. The badge text displays the number of failed resources. Opening the panel, you can check these resources by pressing the "Error Log" button (this feature is disabled by default).
3. It is possible to search for free transparent or anonymous proxy servers in the manual proxy tab.
Why do I need this extension to alter my proxy?
By using a proxy server that sits intermediary between your computer and the internet, you can hide your real location or access websites that would otherwise be blocked.

It works. Some of you will get it. Some won't. I just needed to force chrome to use a proxy server without setting the PC system (OS) proxy. I was able to put my own Proxy server in - enable and go. Did not notice how to switch from manual proxy to direct - So I just turned the extension on/off as needed.

Simple et facile d'utilisation
This is one of the most useful extensions I've ever used. You can open any SSH connection to any service you have (AWS, GCP, etc) and make it work as a Proxy, then use this extension to pass your Chrome session thru it with this command: ssh -ND 1080 <user@host> -p <remote_port>

Search proxy seems to work. Confusing Save and Delete option. Clicking over the green checkmark deletes the proxy, while clicking over the yellow cross actually saves the proxy.

Good options but 1. doesn't set colour selection correctly when restarting Firefox (reverts to 'Direct' colour but actual proxy setting remains on whatever other proxy option you had before restarting the browser) and 2. on Chrome colour selection now doesn't work at all

Can you add an input "Add by String" to tab "Manual Proxy"? Just copy and paste proxy strings like "http://1.2.3.4:567" or "socks5://8.9.10.11:1213" or "14.15.16.17:1819" (http type by default). So you don't have to enter ip, port and proxy type separately, they will fill automatically.
