Automatic handling of GDPR consent forms
Cookie pop-ups are designed to be confusing and make you 'agree' to be tracked. This add-on automatically answers consent pop-ups for you, so you can't be manipulated. Set your preferences once, and let the technology do the rest!
This add-on is built and maintained by workers at Aarhus University in Denmark. We are privacy researchers that got tired of seeing how companies violate the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Because the organisations that enforce the GDPR do not have enough resources, we built this add-on to help them out.
We looked at 680 pop-ups and combined their data processing purposes into 5 categories that you can toggle on or off. Sometimes our categories don't perfectly match those on the website, so then we will choose the more privacy preserving option.
The first version of this add-on works with 4 popular pop-ups: Cookiebot, OneTrust, QuantCast, and TrustArc. The add-on is open source, so anyone can add additional pop-ups through our template system: https://github.com/cavi-au/Consent-O-Matic.
Most recent changes:
* Fixed issues related to manifest v3
* Fixed a bug causing some rules to not complete properly, leaving the popup open

- (2023-11-05) Mirko Baučić: Great tool, works most of the times in my experience. Browsers should have such options by default, as navigating the modern internet has become a pain, no matter the good intent of the consent.
- (2023-10-18) Kyle Robertson: Works super quick and cleans up my browsing experience. Recommend.
- (2023-10-16) H Morgan (BluDolphin): An amazing extension, this should come built into every browser its that good. Thank you to the developer/s that made this, you're a lifesaver.
- (2023-10-05) Josué Peña: DOES NOT WORK.
- (2023-09-18) E. T.: Live-saving extension! (unlike other popular ones). Handles the annoying cookie form era perfectly for a majority of the websites I visit (Chrome), and misses a few ones which are probably built differently from the dataset you used. Researchers that find!! Free software wonder. Keep up the great work!
- (2023-09-16) compu: I would like to see an option where I can see what cookies have been disabled, I cant just blindly trust that has done the job as expected.
- (2023-09-15) David Prendergast: So far hasn't worked on any of the first 4 sites I have tried it on. I'll update my review if it works again or if a rep explains why it isn't working and what I can do about it
- (2023-09-14) Gareth Manning: THANK YOU This extension isn't perfect, but it works 75%+ of the time, which is a massive life improvement for me. I really appreciate this. It's free and improves the internet browsing experience substantially. I strongly recommend getting this. Massive positive karma to all who helped bring this to reality. :)

- (2023-09-11) Petra-Kim Bungartz: Probably of good use, but unfortunately it didn't work in my Chrome, still receive all the consent pop-ups. :-( Tried relaunching Chrome (is latest version), restart of my Mac, whitelisted etc. ... no effect whatsoever.
- (2023-07-08) Matthew Griesinger: Not 100% Accurate, but I appreciate it takes care of most sites.
- (2023-06-15) Tobias Poulsen: Has saved me 7500 clicks so far. When I stumble upon a website that it doesn't handle, I report it easily, and then it usually works later if I check in incognito.
- (2023-06-13) Rainbow Warrior Princess: Doesn't work on all sites, for example: https://storececotec.de Also doesn't close the 'Privacy Manager' popup after closing the cookie consent popup on pcwelt.de
- (2023-03-19) Matej Blaha: I would say it works on around half of the websites, but that still saves me a lot of time and my privacy. On the websites where it does work, it seems to automatically opt out of the legitimate interest, too.
- (2023-03-11) Albert Sáfrán: Wow. Websites are just loading, browsing is just happens, coockie popups are simply missing as this peaceful and quick experience was natural. I feel back in the old days, I've got used to it very quickly. :D It removes the worst kind of cockies where you have to scroll over and switch manually sooo many options. Plus it removes almost all of the simple, 1 button "enable/disable" versions. When I see occasionally one of these simple coocike pop-ups, I realize how lucky I am with this extension. Great thanks for the work!
- (2023-03-07) Atheophanous2: Doesn't work on many sites and slow on those that it does.
- (2023-03-05) Michael Swanson: Although not perfect, at present it has reduced 99% of the irritation associated with trying to refuse cookie permissions from sites that are not compliant with GDPR. Having a background automated process to respond to cookie settings is fantastic, My biggest frustration used to be news sites, now, for the most part I no longer need to deal with the cokie consents. There are a couple of hiccups but relatively few.
- (2023-01-27) Jon N: Overall works well, it just misses some cookie prompts, like reddit, and Google's own proprietary cookie prompt that apparently nobody can remove, thus I give it 4 stars. A good effort, just not accurate enough.
- (2023-01-16) P L: First free option that has worked on most sites for me. Love it! And for the sites that it was not able to automatically answer, you have the option to turn it off and let the developers know so they can analyze it. Since its up to all sites individually how they implement cookie approval it must be a daunting task to create a automatic solution. That you also offer it for free is amazing. Thank you!
- (2023-01-13) konda62: Seems to work really well.
- (2022-12-22) Lukas Kronholm: I got no use from it, and it actively worsened my expierience with some websites including streaming platforms and my bank.
- (2022-12-15) Mariam Limpao: Sometimes it works, sometimes it does'nt
- (2022-12-05) CD CD: It does not work on a large number of sites.
- (2022-11-24) Volo HY: Great tool for cookies forms
- (2022-11-23) Pavel Kučerka: Většinu hlášek o cookies vůbec zablokuje. Absolutně nepoužitelné.
- (2022-11-08) Álvaro Robledo: Fantastic extension!
- (2022-11-06) Caleb Morrell: Works perfectly so far!
- (2022-10-19) Brad Kowaleski: Doesn't seem to work on pretty much any site I've visted. Maybe it's only German sites?
- (2022-10-04) alexia: Doesn't work on most websites, and where it does it's really slow.
- (2022-10-03) Franco Alberto Cardillo: So far, it has not blocked a single form of consent. Zero: 100% miss rate.
- (2022-10-01) Sarah Grey: I loved the idea of this thing but it doesn't work at all. Still getting heaps of popups and consents and cookies and mailing lists and everything.
- (2022-09-22) Moritz: Needs more supported websites, but it really works when it works
- (2022-09-21) bad1080: great alternative to "i don't care about cookies". could work on more sites but it's open source and you can see what it's doing in real time.
- (2022-09-20) Maciej: dzięki chrobok
- (2022-09-18) Ma Br: came here from now avast infected i-dont-care-about-cookies... seems to work fine for now
- (2022-09-18) Thibault Molleman: Great alternative to "I don't care about cookies" now that they've been bought by Avast/norton
- (2022-09-17) nash jonas: Downloaded this after "I don't care about cookies" became spyware. Thanks for the alternative :)
- (2022-09-15) Dinos Papas: It works very well. Thank you.. it was just what I was looking for..
- (2022-03-17) Jesper Hertel: Excellent. It doesn't work on all sites, but still quite a few, and it does it flawlessly on those. Such a relief to not have to deal with the cookie consent madness on some websites. And you can even report those on which it doesn't work, which gives you a nice feeling of being able to give feedback and "make a wish", in the hope that a kind soul one day will make it work on those websites too.
- (2022-03-11) blanche ipad: Basically a good idea, but it didn't work on some of the biggest German news sites like heise.de, sueddeutsche.de, faz.de, zeit.de and spiegel.de. Does this plugin even have more code than needed to display the report button?
- (2022-02-12) Barney Pitt: Hasn't worked once. Utter waste of time.
- (2022-01-21) Utku Okur: seems to be working so far.
- (2022-01-07) EXTREME REPORTER - Andiamo al Sodo!: NON FUNZIONA UN BEL NIENTE!
- (2022-01-02) Ashkii Taylor: Genuinely does not work. Even went to the websites for the Quantcast and OneTrust, who they say can manage your choices for and guess what? The pop-ups appear and it doesn't complete them - no tick appears on the icon to confirm. So you have to complete it yourself so kinda fails on the most basic level. Other sites it says it is autocompleting and to wait and then times out. Others you get a tick on and yet, the cookies box still is there and no options have changed to meet my saved choices. So what's the point? Really wanted this to work but just doesn't...!
- (2021-12-30) Jack Harvill: I read about this extension in Wired UK. After installing and testing it I can only say I am utterly impressed. This is absolutely brilliant. The extension automatically rejects all the permissions to third parties on the websites you visit, which means that it is a fantastic tool privacy wise. You can also change the settings according to your standards. Many thanks to the developers for this extension. Keep it up, you’re doing an outstanding job!
- (2021-11-13) B H: It just does not work. I deleted it again. Useless!
- (2021-11-05) Mark Stephens: It works maybe 20% of the time, probably less. Removed.
- (2021-09-14) Madbrad200: Does the annoying cookie prompts for you. Win win
- (2021-06-25) Echo: Only works for a small percentage of websites, i keep on sending reports, i suggest the developers to update their "script detectors" or whatever they use cause it seems the vampires of marketing updated theirs.
- (2021-06-05) Jacob Jensen: Works just as expected! Highly recommended to anyone :-)
