Description from extension meta

Twitch: hide a channel from the followed channels column.

Image from store Twitch Hide Followed Channel
Description from store Have you followed someone on Twitch but you don't really care about their streams? You don't even want to see them in the list of the channels you follow? Well, you shouldn't be so mean... but this extension can hide those channels for you! Every channel you choose (as shown in the first screenshot) won't appear anymore in the column of followed channels. Although it will show in any other place where it would normally appear. In the extension's pop-up, channels can be added back to the column by clicking on their names (second screenshot). Also, channels can be hidden from the pop-up if their names are typed in its text field. You can watch a demo of the extension here: https://youtu.be/GHzBn0DG8fA. Code: https://github.com/jmt-chromeextensions/TwitchHideFollowedChannel. This extension has some interesting features that are worth taking a look at, like the use of MutationObserver (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/MutationObserver) to notice when some channel has started a new stream and it has been added to the live channels div, or the background-content-pop-up messagging. FYI: Extensions are not activated automatically when they are installed. This extension, like many others you have tried probably, starts working on all the corresponding tabs at the right moment it is installed, but this is not the default behaviour. Take in mind that if you install an extension sometime and it doesn't work on the tabs you have already open, you may need to refresh those tabs with F5 key or by clicking on the reload button located in the browser's top left corner. ❓ Questions to think about: What is the value of a follow? How did Twitch devs know that I was going to follow more people now that followed channels are not pubicly displayed? Does a lot of people look at other people's followed channels? 🤔

  • (2023-10-03) Elisa Eli: UPDATE. is not working again, you have to disable it and enable it every time to let it work again. Perfect! Previous 3 stars because was not working anymore. Now 5 stars because they fixed it! Sometimes it still works at times. Just remove and add the channel from the list several times (refreshing the page each time you remove it, before adding it back). After a few tries it works. This extension is perfect if you don't want to unfollow a channel (because maybe you just want to be able to interact with it once in a while), but you don't want it always in the list on the left. Twitch unfortunately does not allow (in 2023) to organize that list. So thank you.
  • (2022-07-21) Leo Kòo: Thanks for writing this extension! That's what I need. But I faced some bugs(?) I can add channels from sidebar, no error. But if I used popup to add channels, it always says "This channel does not exist.". Also, if some followed channels I have come back interested and want to remove them from list, I can't find them in the popup. The popup only lists probably 30% of my hidden channels, and I have no choice to remove the extension and re-install it to let the channel leave the hidden list :(
  • (2021-09-13) Mike X: this is needed i jhate all that junk on sidebar. but this app sometimes breaks for no reason while watching a stream and all the channels you hidden will just comeback for no reason. usually a refresh will fix it and they will be hidden again. need some sort of stability update. but man this is so good. for those who want a clean page not filled with junk.
