We started afford.nyc in an effort to find our own apartments… ones that we could actually call our home, even though we couldn't afford to buy an NYC apartment.
Rent stabilization exists to make such long-term affordable housing possible, but how do you find the mythical rent-stabilized apartment in the neighborhood you want to live in?
With a bit of tech magic, we managed to make it easy to tell whether or not the apartments we were searching for were rent stabilized using the chrome extension you're looking at now.
Now we are here to share this with you, to help you find your dream apartment, without the fear of being priced out.
What's our secret?
We use algorithms built on public and private datasets to predict with 98% accuracy whether or not an apartment listing is rent-stabilized.

*As mentioned above we use algorithms to predict whether or not an apartment is rent-stabilized, we're pretty good at it (98% accurate based on our metrics) but can not provide a 100% guarantee.
