  • (2024-04-22) Keri Tripp: I'm surprised by all the bad reviews for this extension. I don't like having to use this extension, but I can understand why the university requires it on particular assignments. I've used it twice so far, and the process was seamless both times. No glitches and no lagging. It was all the more surprising since I was in a regional area at the time with terrible internet speeds. One tutor advised that IRIS doesn't like split screens, so only use one dedicated screen. Plus, remember to turn the Grammarly extension off if you use this. Good luck with your assignment!
  • (2023-09-13) Ka Ho Chan: It's a POS :)
  • (2023-08-27) Atner NT: A creepy intrusive piece of software sketchy at the best of times. I get it's intention, supposed to stop students from being dishonest, but the amount of access to your computer is a proper breach of privacy. Having to agree to statements such as "IRIS@Curtin wants to share the contents of your screen with ncidnmjpnbljffflgbchghmpnndnhali" are super sketchy and should not be required for me to just attempt an assesment that counts towards my grade. That jumble of letters wasn't me spamming my keyboard, that is copy pasted from the popup i got when IRIS asked me to share my screen. Also, my computer has personal things on it, I do not consent nor want to share my computer screen with curtin staff and it's an insult that this is compulsory. If a test is so important that you cannot let students cheat, just do it in person, it is not difficult and curtin more than has the resources to do so. I will be removing this borderline malware from my computer as soon as I do not require it to pass my units and continue learning at curtin. Horrible.
  • (2023-08-17) Lara Alban: rubbish :D
  • (2023-06-08) Dinnit: IRIS cannot work at all. I have tried dozens of times on two separate computers and three different browsers and yet it keeps showing the same error message. I won't be able to do my exam because of it. The troubleshooting tips do not work at all and I've yet to receive a response of the error from Curtin.
  • (2023-05-16) Hi You: Spent hours doing the check Iris test. Upon the 75th trial of removing browser history, cookies and temporary files, the Iris check test eventually decided to work for ONE time out of 250+ tries, indicating that Iris has functionality entirely by chance of 1/000 or so. Doesn't work on over FIVE computers, even tested at the public library, but the public library doesn't have the required cam 'n mic. Iris Team member Leslie (aka she/her) then sends a reply to the student that the student was not cooperating with Iris, yet she was responding to the cooperating-with-Iris ticket!
  • (2023-05-11) Ho Zhang: Bad app but good phone support
  • (2023-04-23) Kayu: Literally doesnt work across multiple PC's in my house leaving me unable to do an assessment.
  • (2022-11-04) Angus Luers: it is a good idea however the iris set up and programming is horrible, made me miss my exam. 0/10 rating if that was allowed
  • (2022-11-01) Chow Wang: Sooky students shouldn't complain about being invigilated when the only other alternative is to stop studying during COVID
  • (2022-10-17) ax: TRASH
  • (2022-08-25) yourboi: I love it when this POS software refuses to work for absolutely no reason the day before my exams.
  • (2022-06-16) Stozboy Green: Program laggy ultra sensitive to light and movement will report you for looking at your computer wrong demands you break up with your other chrome extensions lies about its purpose crashes if you look at the window during exam
  • (2022-06-15) Linda Anish: Spend the whole time trying to get it to work, I really hope they improve it in the future.
  • (2022-06-11) Ryan Hegarty: Absolutely useless piece of software. Needed to use it for all of my exams and worked initially but then caused me extreme anxiety and grief when it suddenly stopped allowing me to record my screen. Followed all the troubleshooting advice and even tried using a different search engine to run it and still faced the same issue, which at the point of this review is unresolved for me. No idea how I am going to proceed with my upcoming exam as I have received no further help and am at a loss for what to do.
  • (2022-06-09) Zipro: Horrible
  • (2022-06-08) DISZZ: this is even worse when you have bad wifi and cant go on campus, never would see my camera and when it finally did it wouldnt let me do my math test because it apparently couldnt see me. thus i got a new laptop, it has the permissions, iv actually done all troubleshooting and its not working. also not great to ahve to uninstall programs i use for my hobbies. exams are now here and its still not working, i dont know if i can even go on campus
  • (2022-05-21) Gilbert Lee Seng Wong: need improvement on iris pronunciation
  • (2022-04-27) Harrison Keogh: A disgusting use of spyware that a university forces you to use. Even after paying them tens of thousands of dollars they still insist on infringing on your privacy. The fact that you must use this even if you have no quiet place to take the test at home and therefore having the possibility to fail is outrageous.
  • (2022-04-25) Connor Maynard: It is quite appalling that spyware should be mandated for download. I find this shocking, and potentially even grounds for protesting.
  • (2022-04-11) Seth Bardsley: If its meant as a warning system not as a cheat detection system then why the hell does it exist?
  • (2021-11-06) Sugna Eggel: Spyware should NEVER be used by a university or any other institution or company. The fact that this software is mandated for many students with potential academic penalties for those who refuse to use it (when it's mandated) is absolutely appalling.
  • (2021-11-03) Shane: Garbage
  • (2021-09-19) Joseph Loveday: Terrible. Froze my DE every time it opened on linux (requiring restart) and had to try a few times to get it working on windows. Added so much stress by delaying my test with buggy software.
  • (2021-08-31) Cooper Keenan: dogshit
  • (2021-08-27) Sandun Liyanage: most useless extension ever to exist
  • (2021-07-20) Aaron Lee: The system is so bad at detecting faces, practically useless
  • (2021-06-14) Sayuj Varsani: good
  • (2021-06-14) Dhillan Kara: I want my privacy
  • (2021-06-13) Roylestork Grayden: Screw you Curtin. Bring back in person exams you bitchcake
  • (2021-06-10) Jacob Nangle: Absolutely disgusting behaviour and actions by CURTIN university... Clearly in breach of The Privacy Act 1988.. And although I've been blackmailed into having no choice but to install IRIS, and accept the screen, person and audio recording, the rest of the people living in this house have not..This organisation is supposedly dedicated to serving its students and others by providing a safe and friendly campus at which one can go to better their education, but instead they do this. It is bad enough that students are still paying exorbitant fees and prices for 'student services and amenities' and 'an education' whilst Curtin effectively cuts our actual in class/person learning in half (in no way is listening to a half assed video with substandard visual/sound quality just as good). The current global circumstances are no excuse anymore, there are countless rooms, spaces and classrooms that sit empty all day everyday. It is outstandingly obvious that whoever is running the 'University', has become accustomed to receiving the same pay/amount of money from students, while getting away with halving not only their personal workload, but the service provided to students. There is no incentive to even attend the campus these days, there's barely any in class engagement, theres minimal socially stimulating activity and the internet has become atrocious... attending TAFE would currently outperform the uni in those fields. I wont even ask why it was decided upon that the campus library was so urgently in need of refurbishment, that it had to be done during semester ?? or was that simply an attempt to try and hide the additional money made by investing it back into the uni's infrastructure ? Whoever the person/persons are running the uni, you should honestly be embarrassed and feel ashamed.. You want to make sure people dont cheat on exams ? conduct them in a proper classroom with supervising lecturers, not by invading the privacy of every students home...
  • (2021-06-10) Lu Yuzhi: Rubbish
  • (2021-06-09) Rohan Khayech: Was stuck loading for my entire exam. Would love to rate this zero but unfortunately I'm just gonna get zero in my exam.
  • (2021-06-08) Acecard 2001: Software actively invades the privacy of students and other users during assessments. Absolutely deplorable and perverted that Curtin University thinks it alright to invade the privacy of its own students. I believe that the term "spyware" fits IRIS pretty well.
  • (2021-06-07) Libin Qi (AsianDude): Wow. Amazing software. Must use for everything.
  • (2021-06-03) Rob: slows down everything and makes the exam even more difficult
  • (2021-05-31) Ryan Martin: It's spyware
  • (2021-05-26) Thomas Machin: I would leave a 0 star review if I could, really really bad programming, cant get it to work for 90 mins now, crashing my new computer and I've maybe failed my assessment because I cant get the software to work, feel like I shouldn't be responsible for bad development but guess that's just where your student loan money gets you
  • (2021-04-20) Andy Drew: absolutely worse addon doesnt work
  • (2021-04-12) CORGE GI: Imagine a person looking at you the whole time you were doing your exam. Some people are ok with it. But personally, its stressing me out and thus, making me lose my focus due to that. THIS NEEDS TO BE STOPPED.
  • (2021-04-12) Colin Tan: very bad system
  • (2021-03-30) Jakob Wyatt: Chinese Spyware
  • (2021-03-21) Cezary: it often glitches and error messages
  • (2021-01-29) dot Ducky: Absolutely terrible such a useless tool that doesnt work and captures sensitive information should be removed from the chrome store.
  • (2020-11-26) Maxim Kobets: software is awful at detecting faces when using anything less than a perfectly clear webcam.
  • (2020-11-25) Mr Beast: full of virus
  • (2020-11-21) Michael Radny: Feels like I am being watched all of the time. I am unsure, even after uninstalling the extension, if it is still monitoring my usage. VERY INVASIVE. Not all exams require this so why does this one unit I am doing require this police state like technology.
  • (2020-11-13) Steven Liew: Unreliable
  • (2020-11-03) KYSP Gaming: The app doesnt work.
  • (2020-10-29) Zachie Wieseie: very invasive
