Image from store Motion
Description from store Motion helps you gain 2 hours a day by helping you manage time, focus, and achieve a state of deep work. Maximize your focus time with better calendaring and scheduling Motion's powerful calendar and scheduler aren't just about making it easy to book meetings or create events (although it is extremely good at these!) - they help you gain hours of focus time back each day by intelligently suggesting meeting at the most optimal times of your day. We want to make sure you have long periods of uninterrupted focus time, take enough break between back-to-back zoom calls, and maximize your entire team's productivity. Trusted and loved by teams across every industry - 5,000 users, 4.4 stars on Google Chrome store - Used by teams at Uber, Airbnb, Squarespace, Shopify, Y Combinator, Accel, On Deck, and so much more! Integrate with tools you already use - Motion works great with GSuite through its extensive integrations (Calendar, Gmail, Drive) so that we don't disrupt your existing workflows. Collaborate with your team - Schedule team meetings at times that minimizes conflict and maximizes focus time for every team member. Ideal for team leads and managers. Used and recommended by the most productive people - Michael Seibel (CEO of Y Combinator): "Motion probably saves me an hour a day when I'm on my computer. I’m moving a lot faster on tasks like scheduling. It also does an amazing job at keeping me focused while working." - Mathew Pregasen (CEO of Quickcard): "Motion does a really good job at keeping me focused. It probably squeezes an extra hour into my workday every day" - Shahrooz Chowdhury (CEO of Liven): “I used to wrangle Calendly, Mixmax, [X.ai](http://x.ai/) and many more meeting management apps but ended up going manual all too often when the real world actually hit. Motion reduces that time from a few minutes to a few seconds.” We respect your privacy - Motion will never sell your data, or share your data with third-parties (unless we are required by law). Motion makes money solely through its subscription as a premium productivity software. We'll not use your data for anything other than providing you with the best time and focus management tool possible. Have questions or comments about Motion? • (2022-10-03) Fran Rogers: This extension does not do anything except act a a bookmark to the web version of Motion. The principle of the service is good. But the UX absolutely does not match the promise of the idea.
  • (2022-08-08) Heath “rolltidehero” B.: Garbage
  • (2022-08-03) Kat Louw: This is gotta be one of the most frustrating apps I've encountered in a long time! Already spent 2 hours trying to set it up! Not noly it only sync with google and microsoft (had to export all my icloud clendars into google, which removed all my colours and tags), but also there doesn't seem to be an option to change it to a light mode, integrations with anything else (zoom, etc) also seem to be glitchy, this extension also doesn't seem to work for me... I'm giving up!
  • (2022-06-11) José Dias Alvaredo: Eu uso a extensão com o navegador OPERA e funciona de maneira ótima. A aplicação MOTION é excelente. Poupa muito tempo ao unir as tarefas com o tempo disponível na agenda. Reagenda as tarefas automaticamente. Recomendável!
  • (2022-03-20) Tom Prest: Intuitive app with a lot of potential, but seems really hindered. Unfortunately, I'm immediately switched off by the short trial and hugely aggressive pricing. Why should anyone pay this much for barebones software? Industry-leading apps such as Asana are, albeit slightly different, packed with features and even the ENTERPRISE plans work out at a similar or cheaper price than Motion. I'd be bringing a team over to use this app if it was well-thought-out but ultimately it seems a bit cash grabby. Why aren't fundamental features even considered? Why can't we assign colours per project, sync to more than two (yes, just two) calendar apps, have more intuitive team features? Ultimately it's hopeless right now but once they re-evaluate their wild pricing I'll gladly come back. Don't waste your money yet.
  • (2022-02-09) Davide Buratti: The idea is good and it seems to work. It takes some time tho to get used, as at the beginning you will loose more time setting up the app and learning how to use it instead of making it work for you. For this reason I think 5 days of free trial are definitely not enough. Also two important things I believe are missing: - notifications on the mobile app: those are vital for me - possibility to sync with own calendar and actually see what the task is (it is covered for "privacy reasons"). In this way I cannot have notifications even on my own app... Thank you, Davide
  • (2022-01-24) Peter Neiger: Overall, I'm very satisfied with Motion and have recommended it to several people. I've encountered one bug that has been slightly annoying, there are a number of untitled activities that seem to have appeared and I can't get rid of them (I've tried deleting, renaming, rescheduling, marking complete, etc.). I think there are some added features that would improve quality of life. Specifically, it would be nice to have control over what color different tasks or projects are. I would find it helpful to be able to quickly glance at the calendar to get an idea of what I'm working on that week or day without reading every activity. I know this is pretty minor overall, but I'd value it. I do recommend people try out the free trial and see if it works for them. It has certainly worked for me.
  • (2022-01-18) Peter Scarth: I really like this app. It's been a gamechanger for me helping regain focus whilst managing multiple calendars and many tasks. I do wish the widget actions were accessible from the button so I could permanently hide the widget but all in all this is a keeper.
  • (2021-11-13) Shuvam Chaudhuri: Motion app has performed poorly for me thus far. Creating events from emails has always been finnicky and usually motion can only pick up one piece of info to start creating the event before it becoming an entirely manual process (eg day but no time or zoom link incorporated). Features have been split apart to multiple extensions and Motion has "iterated quickly" but there are no manuals or materials to teach users how to use the features.
  • (2021-10-05) Naledi Magowe: Motion is a great platform and i really want to get the full use of it, i am a guinea the pig for our company (40 employees), and if i am able to get value we will onboard the team on to the platform. My only problem is that i cant get tasks to be scheduled, and unfortunately, i am not happy with the customer support. Please hire someone in sales who knows what customer support means and can help onboard customers successfully because the guy doing it currently makes me feel like im nagging when i ask for clarity and help and picks and chooses which concerns to address. This is really frustrating. As much as it is a great platform you may loose customers simply because of this.
  • (2021-10-02) Jeffrey Yao: Beware - even if you cancel your Motion subscription and unlink your calendar, it still modifies events on your calendar (i.e. focus time) and re-adds them when you delete. If you experience this issue, go to the Security section of your Google Account and revoke access to Motion.
  • (2021-09-27) Nathan Benaich: I use Motion all the time because I like the dynamic task manager that moves time blocks for tasks around meetings as they land in my calendar. I also like having access to my calendar right in the browser, the reverse compatibility with Calendly, scheduling links with auto-generated text snippets that are so much better than Calendly. The mobile app that comes with it is awesome too.
  • (2021-09-25) Ish Baid: I've been beta testing Motion's task manager for the past month and absolutely love it! It lets me make time for the most important tasks in my day and lets me get done 30% more done each each. The motion team is incredibly receptive to feedback and iterates crazy fast.
  • (2021-09-14) Itai Handler: Best calendar app out there
  • (2021-08-04) Jakub Langr: Don't get too attached to your favourite feature, they might just kill it without recourse. I was going to write a much less critical review, but when I went to the website I found out that they've been charging me $30 for the last several months even though their current pricing says $19 and they've never refunded me or given anything back. Caveat emptor, I guess.
  • (2021-07-21) Julian Weisser: Motion consistently releases new features that add value. The thing that hooked me in the very beginning was the "Just in Time" meeting notification with join link — made it much harder to accidentally miss or be late to a meeting. An example of constant improvements: they just added a feature to that which enables you to easily send a "I'm running a couple minutes behind" message to the other people on the calendar invite. Love this product!
  • (2021-06-17) Alex Bass: I think this deserves a quick story as to what led me looking for a tool like Motion, and then explaining where Motion hits all of the checkboxes (scroll down to the TL;DR at the bottom if you don't care). I tried every calendar + scheduler out there and switched maybe 7 times over the past 10 years? Starting with Sunrise Calendar back in the day (LOVED it) then Microsoft acquired them, rolled it into Outlook (bleh) and killed off Sunrise. Always jumping between trying to find a solid calendar that I enjoyed more than Google Calendar + a separate scheduler app. So in-between that, I went from Calendly to trying x.ai again, (among many others), then finally to Chili Piper (was built more for enterprise, but it was decent). After that, eventually found myself a step closer with Woven Calendar though! (Which was created with an Ex-Google team member that had a dope calendar + scheduler), but it didn't quite do it for me - didn't know why, maybe felt a bit slow (sorta) + too many unnecessary features, but it did both components decently (calendar + scheduling) and THEN they got acquired by Slack and shut down a few months back. Gosh... So back at square one again, still wishing for my sunrise calendar replacement for business, and then found Motion. They've absolutely destroyed the scheduling side of things, and their calendar is incredibly fast and lives with a simple "alt + c" or "option + c" at any point on the web, with scheduling as "alt + a". Incredibly quick time-zone comparisons and fantastic team collaboration (being able to create a pre-built or on-the-fly scheduling link that takes into account all team's calendar availability). With so much more. So excited for how they build out task functionality as they are the only calendar app that has taken into account focused sessions and better time blocking. Super impressive team building it and it shows in the product. TL;DR: I've tried everything on the market, even the more modern and newer competitors, and nothing does Scheduling + Calendar management as well as Motion. The team has nailed down the idea of having a calendar literally living with you in your workspace, whereas all the competitors try to get you to go to their calendar. Got my entire team onboard and super stoked for the collaboration features that have been built and are in the works. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed :)
  • (2021-04-29) René Reineke: This product does not work with personal accounts, who are enrolled in Googles Advanced Protection Program. I reached out to their support but haven't received a reply. This was a waste of time, and nothing near added productivity.
  • (2021-03-18) Rabah Rahil: I work in Media Buying so distractions and scheduling are a challenge. Not anymore. Links to custom scheduling pages are only a keyboard shortcut away. The price point was aggressive at first, but once I started integrating it into my workflow, its worth twice as much!
  • (2021-03-17) Emma Rooholfada: I love this extension! Motion has saved me hours a week and keeps me from falling down Youtube or Facebook rabbit-holes when I'm trying to do productive work on my computer. I love that all the productivity features I need are now easy to access and compiled in one extension. A real game-changer for my work habits!
  • (2021-03-17) Gareth Wan: I've saved so much time using the calendar and availability features over the past few months!
  • (2021-02-22) Young Kang: Felt kinda pricey at first. But after I started to make full use of the features, worth every penny! If you care about productivity at all, would definitely recommend!
  • (2021-02-10) Jim Barton: It has some useful features, others seemed less so. You need to give your credit card to try it out. I cancelled it a few minutes later, but still have 10 days to play around with it.
  • (2021-02-08) Severin Ibarluzea: I love this extension, you can tell these Motion is constantly innovating to challenge addictive patterns with helpful interventions that put you in control. This is your productivity blue team. Well worth every $ spent.
  • (2021-01-29) David Gu: This has been a game-changer for my productivity. 100% one of the best productivity apps I've ever tried. Makes everyday tasks so much smoother with the work apps I've used. If you want to be more productive I definitely recommend this.
  • (2021-01-28) Gavin D: I was pretty skeptical at first b/c their website doesn't explain how the features work. Started their trial anyways b/c I'm struggling to maximize my productivity (I'm a startup founder), and I was blown away by how helpful Motion's been. Fits perfectly into my work life. Recommended it to my entire team!
  • (2021-01-28) Long Daniel Dinh: "I'm very impressed after playing around for a few days. The Keyboard shortcuts for everything make it super fast and removes tons of pain points elegantly around GSuite apps. Going to sub!
  • (2021-01-19) Theo: There are *some* useful features but the pricing is a mess. You can't even try it without signing up for a subscription. You can get these features elsewhere for much less. A big disappointment that it has such an aggressive pricing strategy. It makes me distrust the seller.
  • (2021-01-10) Ryan Hoffman: I wasn't able to fully test this application. It is tightly bound with Google suite activities, which limits the effectiveness for Enterprise applications and without that, you have very limited capabilities that appear to focus on distraction control around blocking certain websites the user determines unproductive. That's a wash for me, not everyone has the same platforms and not supporting the ones I use is not a knock. I am frustrated about the lack of technical documentation on their site or something more concrete. I saw their add on a website I trust and have a very level of consumption from advertisers there. Reviewing the site, there was no mention of it being reliant on G-Suite (or I couldn't find it). This wasted my time.
  • (2021-01-03) Celeste Diaz Ferraro: Buggy app won't authorize in Chrome. Installed the extension, and clicked the button to get it to authorize my google account but just got a never-ending loop circle. Good idea for an app but the implementation doesn't seem to work. Uninstalled to ensure no billing after the free trial ended.
  • (2020-11-13) Igor Stefanovici Zergos: The most underrated extension for productivity.
  • (2020-11-09) George Fang: Stellar chrome extension. I've used several different products and this one is my go to for working from home. Unobtrusive UI with solid integrations with all of my work related apps. Motion is the Apple product of distraction management.
  • (2020-11-09) Daniel Kang: Simple, great, and tons of features have been added since I last tried - excited to see what gets added in the future! Paywall is a bit of a bummer but some might turn out to be worth it
  • (2020-11-09) Ara Ghougassian: It's easier than ever to be distracted while you focus. Love how Motion is going about solving this problem. The team moves really quickly and the product is consistently improving!
  • (2020-11-09) Alexandros Zervos: Terrific app! I've had many coworkers recommend it to me!
  • (2020-10-14) Mason Jenkins: Great app! Honestly didn't think it would be that good but I'm really enjoying it thus far, makes me feel that much worse about wasting my day on Reddit/YouTube. I think the addition of daily limits would be nice. edit: Devs made a lot of updates. Sort of feel like the app is different now than the original intention, sort of a google Chrome productivity suite? But I personally don't see the value in a lot of the functionalities and I don't think it's worth almost $200/yr (!!!). I'm guessing their target market is c-suite executives or something that are constantly sending emails or...honestly I don't know, the features they added are confusing. Really enjoyed this app and was disappointed to see it go paid so soon, especially at the price they're asking.
  • (2020-08-20) Justin Chu: Finally this is being made. I needed it so much
  • (2020-08-05) Siddish Reddy Iragamreddy: One star deducted for using Ctrl-J which is previously for downloads and no way for disabling in Free mode! Except that the only extension I use daily!
  • (2020-07-23) Nathan Nannenga: I understand businesses need to make money but can't help but feel like I got the bait and switch. Wish it had been more upfront about plans to go full paid.
  • (2020-07-21) Agustin Barrientos: It used to be great, but they removed functionality that was already available in the extension to offer it for 6 USD per month. Now every time you click on the extension icon, you're redirected to upgrade.inmotion.app instead of the settings page.
  • (2020-07-19) Luis Valladares: Good extension, has some nice feature to avoid distraction but they changed the price model and now it's REALLY overpriced.
  • (2020-07-19) Kristen Fang: Very easy to use and *actually* helps me to be productive unlike other apps I've tried.
  • (2020-07-16) Imran Hussain: This extension was very good. But recently it stopped working and it is asking to upgrade to pro which I can't because I live in a country where the payment system used by motion isn't easily available.
  • (2020-07-15) Martin Timko: not for free anymore, costs $20/month. for the developer it will be nice to realize that not every country is that rich that anyone can afford to pay his daily earning for some simple browser extension. very disappointed.
  • (2020-07-15) Felipe Carrer: What happened with the free version? I had it installed but uninstalled accidentally here, and now there is only the paid option?
  • (2020-07-14) Stanislas Laurent: UPDATE: This extension isn't free. 0 features are available without paying. They totally ruined their work. Great UI, great UX, no bugs. Finally a real and truly working distraction-breaking extension. Everything is well-thought, you can categorize sites, have timers, focus sessions, block a site, useful reports... but it's somehow never invading. Just perfect. And they keep introducing new features (background music sites, workflow analysis...) How can it only have 6K users ? Time to start an ad campaign! My only suggestion: there should be a "hardcore" mode where to get XX more minutes, you have to type "I want XX more minutes of useless distractions"
  • (2020-04-14) James Esch Duran: This app is great. Very easy to use, onboarding was over before I realized it had started. You could say it made me more productive in less than 15 seconds.
  • (2020-04-08) Great add-on! Didn't feel any lag or pressure on Chrome while using it. It also addresses the issue with other solutions where they end up becoming the distraction. Very effective!
  • (2020-04-07) George K: A new extension in the productivity space with a lot of interesting and innovative never-before-done features, even though it launched just 2 months ago. I think I fell in love with it when it gave you a "background music" option where browsing YouTube. Most productivity apps put sites in the category of either "productive" or "unproductive", which is not true. Most sites have a dichotomous mix of productive and unproductive parts, so it's relieving to finally see an extension recognize this reality (and hopefully there will be more features to deal with this dichotomy in the future!) I'm excited to see what direction this app expands into, future features, and where it goes!

Hi, In the screenshot on the https://www.inmotion.app/ page (https://uploads-ssl.webflow.com/5e0ecd43df6433531a1dec71/5ed0834f11a8b0839707b2f1_subtabs.gif), we can see subtabs with icons next to them. But in my installed (free) version of the extension, it doesn't show any icons. Is that a paid feature, or perhaps something in the works? For my work flow, having icons on tabs is essential. I often rely on them when having a bunch of regular tabs open. Otherwise, I have to read text and interpret it, vs visually checking an icon that is quicker to perceive than reading text, esp. when having a bunch of subtabs :-) Thank you for the otherwise amazing product! Best

  • (2020-03-20, v:1.0.33) S W: Timer keeps going when I'm using a different tab
Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to get the timer to pause when I stop using a site and switch to another tab. It keeps going as though I am still distracted when I am not. So I will be working and then come back later to the tab (with for example, Amazon, open), and it will say my time is now up.
  • (2020-03-18, v:1.0.33) Lark Davis: Is it possible to pause Motion on work days?
I'd like to occasionally pause Motion when I'm either not working that day or taking a break (as someone else commented). I don't want to have to remove all my current days and time settings to do this. Is there an easier way?
  • (2020-03-10, v:1.0.28) Christopher Stanton: Set a 'break' time
It would be helpful to set a period of time inside the time range that is permissible to access the blocked sites. For example, I regularly take a lunch break at 11.30 for 30 minutes to an hour, so it would be useful to be able to set this time in the extension, rather than having to hit 'give me 30 mins' and that to be counted as unproductive.

Nice extension. However, I would like to sync the settings on different computers. Is there a way to do that and I missed it? If not, please add this feature.
