• (2021-08-24) cindy l: I love this extension! I've had it for a few days so far, and I agree with the other reviewers, it's comparable to Google, and is an easy switch to make. The search results are superior to Ecosia's in my opinion, which I stopped using because it wasn't providing the results I needed (:(). They donate 95% of profits instead of Ecosia's 80%, and do more than plant trees (though you can specify what you would like to donate to). The background pictures are pleasing to the eye, but for a more minimalistic tone you can set it to a plain background. I'm very satisfied with my experience so far and am so glad that I was advertised this when I was about to redownload Ecosia.

One reason I avoided using charitable search engines in the past was because they could be such a hassle to download and switch over to, but SearchScene is really easy to use. I was especially impressed with how easy it was to synch accounts between my different devices. I haven't had an issue with the search results yet, the response is just as good as any big name search engine. I love the home page too. The pictures are gorgeous and you can scroll down to see the impact searchscene has already had with the charities it works with. You can also see how many searches you've made and by extension, your impact. I honestly don't see why anyone would use anything else! It is such a easy way to help the planet. Let me explain, this search engine is better than Google in the sense that it donates ad revenue to charities that work on making the world and Earth better, but on the occassions where you want to quickly see google search results, you can still do so by just clicking "google" at the top of their search results page. I love that about this search engine, it TRULY wants to help the world and help you find what you are searching for and if that means designing their search engine to quickly allow you access to search results from other engines, I think that is selfless and awesome!

SearchScene does more than planting trees, which is great! great search results, I suggest using it instead of Google. Its also private, and the results come from Bing. REALLY REALLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

Only been using for a few days, but am happy with the speed and accuracy so not sure what else you need from a search engine? The fact that the benefits to the enviroment and other communities are there are the main reason for switching. Keep up the good work.
• (2021-07-14) Tahir Leonenko: I think the search results need to be a bit better done. A couple of times I've searched up a not too well know character from DC and instead of getting wikipedia pages I'm getting linkedln profiles. I also tried to search up a pretty popular steamer who goes by "ls" (I searched up imls which is his twitch id to be specific) and I only got a link to his twitch where as on google it'll also give me his twitter account and youtube account which go by slightly different names. Also a bit slower than google. Will still use it just pointing out things that can be improved on.

The home page shots are excellent and engaging and the search capability is not failing me so far - really impressed. Its better than EveryClick, a similar browser which sadly folded recently. I'd just like to know how to install SearchScene as my default browser because Google seems to have blocked the ability to enable this.

Ability to support wildlife and the forest. My country (Estonia) is not supported in image search yet, but all in all my favourite search engine. Thankyou.

It's lovely to start up a web search with such lovely photography too - helps keep the connection with nature that we all so desperately need.

• (2021-03-20) E M: I made a review and gave this 4 stars a couple months ago. But after having it a bit longer now, I'm now giving it the full 5 stars it deserves. Overall SearchScene is a great and probably the best charitable search engine out there. It is very focused on helping the environment and stopping climate change. As of right now, using this may be the easiest but also the most effective way you can save the environment, and I love it for several reasons. The biggest reasons is that 95% of the profits they make go off to charity. That is a higher number than any other engine. Ecosia, for example, donates 80%. Still a good number, but you can make a bigger impact on SearchScene. While many charitable engines donate to a specific charity, on SearchScene, you get to choose which ones you want to help out. There are 6 to choose from, all doing different things. One, like Ecosia, helps plant trees. One, like Ocean Hero, helps protect waters. But again, you make a bigger impact using SearchScene because they donate more of their money than the other engines. Some of the others charities help out in other things like building water pumps, helping climate refugees, or giving care to poorer children in need. Another thing to mention, you don't have to choose just one. You can choose some or all of them if you want to. Another thing to mention is the wallpaper, or background images. And. Wow. They are perfect. Whether they show pictures of nature, animals, or city skylines, they are always beautiful. Really, I will never know where the developers get them from. If you're someone who wants your images or a simple black or white background, that's also possible. Privacy is also pretty good. While they do store your IP adress to make things more secure, they won't be selling or sharing it to anyone. While not perfect, it's much better than what Google does. What about the actual search results? SearchScene claims to offer a first class search experience. And, well, they're not wrong. They've created this panel that instantly gives you answers and a link taking you to a wiki page. Yes Google also has this, but the panel here is easier and shows more. If you search for a person or company, it also has links offering to take you to their main website and social media accounts. Now, the search results themselves are good, but there are times when Google will sometimes give more direct answers. If that happens, there's actually a button taking you straight to Google and what results they have. Again, Searchscene doesn't give bad results, but there's always room for improvement, right? Overall, SearchScene is a very impressive engine, and it is a must have for anyone wanting to help the environment. For a small team or possibly one person behind making this, it offers many things I didn't think I needed, one way or another. It's only 1 year old, and promises to add more, like mobile apps. 5 stars.

• (2021-01-21) E M: I've had SearchScene since late October, and I don't want to leave it any time soon. I'm going to give this review a lot of beef, but I want you to know that overall I really love this browser. If you are looking for the best charitable browser to use, I highly recommend this! Reputation - 5 stars. It is by far the most generous charity browser I've seen. I wish more people knows about this. Yet, even with the few people there are here, there are still a lot of huge developments. Unlike other engines, SearchScene lets you choose what charities you want to support; whether you want to support a charity on water, refugee crisis's, the environment, or a bit of everything, it's up to you. They also show their receipts on their donations you know you're not being scammed. Privacy and security - 4 stars: I am a huge sucker for this. I have read the privacy and terms of use, and I'm not disappointed. The privacy here is much better than that of Chrome. In terms of security, it will not block every little thing from unsafe sites. So if you care a lot about security, I recommend you install a browser such as Brave, then add SearchScene as an extension, which is what I'm doing. Search results - 4 stars: This is probably my only real problem with SearchScene. While the results aren't BAD, I found results on Chrome considerably better. Thankfully, there is an option on the bottom of the results page that takes you to Chrome, so I'll give it that. I would like to let you know my default browser uses Bing, so it'll be different if you use Chrome. One thing I will give credit for though is that when you search for something, the first thing that shows is a Wikipedia page and an option to read more. On top of that, if you searched for a person or company, it will even show an option to take you to their main website and social media pages. This is something I didn't even think I needed. Atmosphere - 5 stars: This is one of the most beautiful looking browsers I've ever seen. Once again SearchScene gives you FREEDOM and things you didn't think you needed. You choose how often you want to see new nature backgrounds (which always looks beautiful), add your own images, or go with a dark or light mode. There's an option where you can toggle whether you want to search for websites, images, videos, or the news, and an area where you set what charities you want, which I mentioned before. It also shows other things such as the time and how many searches you've made. While the atmosphere does look a tad cluttered with all these things, I think it does the job pretty well. My personal tips to make the browser better: - Add an Android and IOS version. I've heard you're already doing this. Can't wait to get this on my Android as well! - Improve search results and security. They're still good, and this browser is still new. But there's always room for improvement, right? - Show users their personal accomplishments. For example, showing each user how much money they've generated, or what they've helped build/buy with their searches. This will show people how much they really are helping the world, and a lot more people will stay.

It's much better than other charity search engines I've used because it is a lot more sophisticated, providing a wealth of information as soon as you press search through detailed knowledge panels and other smart features. Plus, they donate 95% of profits to charity - couldn't recommend enough. It's easy to install this browser extension to make SearchScene your main search engine.

I don't know exactly how much this amounts to and would be curious about that, but I figure however much is better than just sending it to Google or something. I do think that it is a pretty good search engine, but I appreciate that you can with another click see the results from Google or Youtube, because sometimes it is a little more clunky in getting me to what I'm looking for. I also have found it helpful when opening a new tab on my pc to hit control k and then backspace if I know that what I'm searching for is a document on Google drive that I've been to before or something.

• (2021-01-02) nocturnal digitalist: Someone recommended me to use this search engine after I was degoogling (https://www.reddit.com/r/degoogle/) and wasnt impressed with searches and support from duckduckgo which I was not interested in taking up. But that is just about the "https://www.searchscene.com/" not with extension. The extension is very bad in terms of performance or working. First, if you enable the extension, the search or URL bar shows their link with chrome new tab after / which is causing issues for someone who wants to search something quickly but cant wait for the new tab by "https://www.searchscene.com/" to load but if type something in the url bar after opening new tab, it overwrites with this extension url. This issue doesnt happen with bing or DDG or ecosia extension. I hope dev will work on this. Second, if you have tabs opened or pinned tabs that you were working on and will continue after closing the tab, this extension kills all of them. (I checked thoroughly and found that this extensions kills all the tabs opened or pinned ones). Third, the homepage looks very dated and isnt appealing to current UI. Despite disabling dark mode which is by the way isnt dark but black, Add dark (see youtube dark mode), I still dark bar in the top while searching. Please make it one way. Also improve the searches like if I am searching for movies, shows or web movies and shows add stars and ratings and cast like google has done so that I can use it more often. A lot of searches are irrelevant and if you are for something direct and precise then this fails. Also there is no way to know how searches are helping someone or doing charity and connect to team for issues. Create a group on reddit or telegram with and for users. I hope dev will look into these and provide a reply with a newer update until then I have uninstalled it as it is causing issues with my work. Also I would like to have an android app like ddg browser has made but with features that a user can have so that one can leave their app and use this app as browser. Also make android based on older firefox not on chromium because there are millions of apps based on chromium and also add features like dark mode for webpages, saving webpages for offline reading, popup windows, background player. For more see bromite browser, iceraven browser and firefox fennec fdroid. Also add extension to edge addons store and firefox addons store apart from this chrome store. I hope team will reply to a new user like me so that I can encourage others to take this as their search engine.
