Freecell rules: Learn how to play Freecell Solitaire The setup: There are 8 tableaus, numbered from 1 to 8. The first 4 tableaus start with 7 cards each. The last 4 tableaus start with 6 cards each. The foundation and free cells start empty. The objective: To win Freecell, you have to get all of the cards onto the foundations. The foundations are ordered by suit and you must match the suit of the card with the suit of the foundation. You start by placing an ace on the foundation, then a 2 on top of that ace and so forth. Once all the cards are on the foundation, you have won the game. To get all the cards to the foundation, you can use the moves described below. Moves: Move one or more cards from one tableau to another: You can move one or several cards from one tableau to another, if the rank of the first card in the pile is one higher that the tableau you're moving to and the color is opposite of the card being moved. Move a single card onto a free cell: You can move the top card of any tableau to it's respective free cell. Make sure the card is of the same suit and one higher than card on the free cell. Move a card from a free cell: You can move cards from a free cell if that card is one higher than the card you're placing it on. You can move a tableau card onto the foundations: You can do this manually or let it happen automatically. This can be configured under settings. Time & scoring: The game measures the time and moves it takes to complete the game. The scoring used, is the classic Windows™ scoring. Freecell Solitaire History: From fortune telling to Microsoft Solitaire Freecell has been a known game for a very long time. Some of the earliest references to the card game, we find all the way back in 1746. What we today know as Freecell Solitaire has, was most likely developed in the 18th century. Some people speculate that Solitaire came about as a way for folk to do fortune telling. The card game became popular on the European continent as a way of telling peoples fortune. In the Scandinavian area solitaire is also known as "Cabale", a word that relates to cabal, which is a mystic interpretation of the old testament. People have found a game that originated in England around the same time as solitaire, known as patience. We find some of the first mentions of solitaire in English literature and a lot of the mentions have French references, which leads people to believe that the game arose in France. Today people use the names Solitaire and Patience to describe the same thing, but back in the day, they where 2 different games. Under the industrial revolution, Solitaire arose in popularity among people. Many other new forms of solitaire developed as well in that period. Among them Freecell Soltaire was one of them. Many other games, such as Solitaire Classic, Spider Solitaire and Russian Solitaire also became increasingly popular. Not that long time ago, Microsoft put together the world championship in Microsoft Solitaire, to celebrate the 25 year anniversary of the game. • (2020-08-08) David Dahl: its a nice quiet game I've been playing micrsoft collection but they get these commercials so you got to wait awhile for the game plus those commercials are loud and about to blow out my speakers. The only thing I don't like is there's not enough options like changing the color of the board or cards and the time starts right away I would like to have a chance to look at the cards. I use to hate free cell now one of my favorite card games
