A Google search with COVID returns 5,55,00,00,000 results, and there is no clue on how many of these results are misinformation. There is widespread misinformation on COVID-19 across the globe in many platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. The misinformation can be as fatal as the real virus as it can spread rumors, create panic and disseminate false information about the disease and its cure. The proposed extension, which is currently in its development phase, is aimed at filtering and flagging online content by finding similar news articles from authentic sources. Since this is an experiment, the news articles are only from Indian news sources and from past weeks to present.
