PrivateSearch Chrome Extension allows you to manage, block and delete the data being collected on you on your Chrome browser.
Our PrivateSearch Chrome Extension gives you a private browsing experience eliminating any issues with tracking by unwanted sites. The extension is easy to use and provides complete online protection in one place.
In order to provide the extension feature, your default search settings will be modified.
How does PrivateSearch work?
See Site tracking data:
Click on the PrivateSearch icon on the top right corner of the browser
Quick view of the current site you are browsing at the moment.
If you want the extension to present you with the number of cookies written on the sites you are visiting, enable the “Show tracking info” option.
After you enable the extension to show tracking information, click on the icon again and you will see the number of cookies written on the current site you are visiting and the number of history pages added to your chrome browser’s history.
Quick anonymize links:
Click on the PrivateSearch icon on the top right corner of the browser
You can see now 3 main Buttons:
“Open in incognito” will open the same site you are on in chrome’s incognito mode
“Clear site cookies” is a quick link to chrome’s cookie settings. You will see the cookies written by the current site and will be able to clear them.
* Pay attention that some of the cookies contain passwords and contact information in order to allow you with easy login.
“Clean from history” is a quick link to chrome’s history settings. You will see the pages you visited and will be able to clear them.
Private search engine:
This feature allows you to search the web with a search engine that does not keep any data on you or your searches.
To use this feature follow these steps:
1. Click on the top search address bar
2. Type “p” and click on the “Tab” key on your keyboard
Type a search query and hit return.
For example type “Home loan terms”, click return and now see the secured search results provided by Yahoo.
Advance Settings:
Click the PrivateSearch icon at the top right
Click on the gear icon to visit the extension’s settings page.
On the settings page, you’ll find easy access to site tracking data activation, a quick link to incognito mode and a special search bar that uses the private search engine.
How do I uninstall this extension?
1. Click on the Chrome Menu icon on the top right
2. Click on Settings
3. On the left side of the window pane click on Extensions
4. Choose the extension from the list
5. Click on the remove button
6. On the pop-up window click on the Remove button
The extension requires the following permissions:
"Change your Search Settings" - The extension requires this permission in order to allow us to provide you a private search engine.
“Read and change your data on a single website” - For our product to work, we require access solely to the websites we own and manage.
“Tabs” - The extension requires this permission in order to read the domain you are visiting.
“Alarms” - The extension requires this permission In order to trigger the notifications.
“Notifications” - Allows us to send you notifications regarding the Chrome browser extension.
“Cookies” - The extension requires this permission in order to track the cookies a website saved for you and notifying you regarding this cookie.
“All_urls” - In order to read the cookies from each site you are visiting the extensions require permission to access all urls.
"Read and change your browsing history” - In order to read and count the number of times a specific domain appears in your browser’s history.
