WHAT IS "KARAOKE"?
Karaoke (カ ラ オ ケ?) is a way of singing with songs tracks, following the lyrics printed on a screen and having all the respective musical accompaniment. Etymologically, it comes from the Japanese word kara (空), which means empty; and oke, Japanese abbreviation of the English word orchestra (オ ー ケ ス ト ラ, ōkesutora), orchestra. Which means that the orchestra plays "empty", without a singer. This allows anyone to use it as an accompaniment to their singing. [Wikipedia]
