Watchmarker for Youtube
Extension Actions
- Extension status: Featured
Automatically mark videos on Youtube that you have already watched.
Youtube keeps track of your watch history and automatically marks videos that you have already watched. They however only mark recently seen videos, which is kind of disappointing. This addon fixes this issue and keeps track of your entire watch history, such that not only the recently seen videos are being marked.
***How can the persistence of the database be ensured?*** There is an export and import feature, which makes it easy to create a backup of the history. This backup can easily be archived such that you can ensure that you never lose your history.
***How can I make sure that the database is complete?*** The automatic synchronization only considers the recent activity. You are thus encouraged to manually initiate a complete synchronization in the settings, which incorporates as much of your history as possible.
***Something is broken, I demand a fix!*** Please be considerate when leaving a review, this is a free extension that I invest my spare time in. If there is something that does not work then please file an issue on Github where it is easier for me to track.

- I love this extension. One feature I wish it had is a way to select multiple videos for deletion. Like using checkboxes. And also a way to retain your search results, so that when you delete a video, the search results are not reset. Other than that, near PERFECT extension.

- Since the Watchmarker is seemingly no more, how do I extract the information in the .database file, and import it to other "watched" type add-ons? For example, the "YouTube Watched Marker" has an option to import a txt file, but can't import the .database file. This was an indispensable add-on for me. Now looking at other options.

- I really like this extension, and think everyone should download it. The only problem I've noticed is that sometimes the synchronization doesn't get the watch order correct. For example, one Let's Play that I have is shown as having been watched in the order of episode 60, followed by episodes 59, 63, 62, 61. It's not a big issue, especially considering it's listed correctly on the YouTube history page, but it does make me a little annoyed when stuff is out of order like that. And there is no way to delete multiple entries at once, only individually. Also, there is no sync function if you watch YouTube across multiple computers, work and home for example, so you would need to manually export and import each time. This is not feasible as someone that moves between multiple profiles on one device, as I would be exporting and importing an absurd amount. Maybe adding the ability to manually move the videos around after they've been logged to fix this. I pay $30 a year for PocketTube's premium features, which includes a cloud backup and sync function. I'd be willing to throw a few dollars each year for the same functionality for Watchmarker. Still download it, and you won't regret it.

- This is the most useful extension I have. Without it, I would get so annoyed, trying to remember what I have and haven't watched. I know there are others out there, but this one does exactly what I want it to.

- This extension has been so useful to me over the years, I am begging you not to let it get shut down due to technicalities 🙏. I'm literally considering learning JS just to help solve the whatever issue is making chrome block it

- Heyo! I love this extension for both the automated watchmarks and the ability to use it to view old videos that my youtube history makes difficult to find.

- I love this extension and I can confidently say it is one of my favourite extensions EVER. I just came to say, I would pay to keep this extension running I like it that much. Big thanks to the developer for keeping it running for so long, and I've only rarely had problems with it, and those problems got fixed lightning fast. My watched video database is now around 34000+ videos stored/logged, I've used it for THAT long. Please please, don't allow: "This extension may soon no longer be supported because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions." To be the end of this! Thank you =)

- Sometime early September, shorts no longer have the WATCHED tag or the greying of the thumbnail. really annoying. A channel shorts page I still had open still has the WATCHED tags with dates and greyed thumbnails. I watched a short I did not before and it was updated in this old browser tab but not a fresh one.
- Zdam Ju
- Still works! Really useful

- I love this and am leaving 5 stars, but the new layout seems to interfere with the extension so Ive had to disable it
- Sam Durk
- Absolutely brilliant, can't recommend enough.
- Nav S.
- I used to enjoy this extension, but when the new YouTube layout was launched in June 2024, the extension began to interfere with the page layout, causing it to hide all the information about the currently playing video. I would appreciate it if you could update the extension to restore its usefulness.
- Olexandr Vynogradov
- This functionality should've been already implemented in the YouTube Website!
- Kenton Flaig
- i would have given it a 5 but today, from what I can tell, this extension prevents YouTube the page that used to load when playing a video from loading properly. The video plays but none of the infromation about the channel shows us nor does the comment section of the vidI
- Lénaïc Jaouen
- Was working perfectly until a few weeks ago Now I'm losing my history every few days and have to reimport everything again An automatic backup option would be nice PS: 1 star but I still think it's worth 5 stars... when it works
- Lourens van Niekerk
- Could there be an additional option just to hide it completely instead of greying it out?
