Display tabs in a tree-like hierarchical structure.

Image from store Forest: Tree Style Tab Manager
Description from store Tab management doesn't have to be a hassle Forest is built on the concept of managing tabs like a "tree". By default, any new tab opened from the current tab is organised as the "child" of the current branch and displayed beneath of the current tab in the menu. The children of the branch can be shown by toggling the arrow sign in front of the branch tab. It is useful for grouping tabs on similar topics as you're browsing the internet. FEATURES: * Drag and drop to organise tab * Add new tab * Delete tab * Duplicate tab * Mute / Unmute tab * Reload tab * Pin / Unpin tab REVIEW You can leave a review on the store or submit a request via: https://discord.gg/UGJn4QkRRV GET IN TOUCH Contact: [email protected] PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS https://getforest.io/privacy

  • (2023-07-24) Luiz Fernando Giaretta Verona: really nice and the closest one from Firefox
  • (2023-06-16) Aesthetically pleasing, yet slow and unusable as a replacement for good ol tree style tabs
  • (2023-03-27) developers Schittli: Be careful! I have used a lot of Windows and Tab-Managers and Forest is the only one, which expect to get the "read and change all your data on all websites" access permissions. Pretty sure the provider doesn't bother to explicitly state which accesses they actually need - *so they just demand access to all your data!*
  • (2023-03-27) Thomas Schittli Akros: getforest.io has no transparency: - it does not list, which features are free - it does not list the price for this service Therefore, it's easy to decide: Uninstall it. I hate surprises with my credit card.
  • (2023-03-04) Jack ATK: It's the best looking tree tab extension by far. The only problem is that it keep rearranging my tabs. Every time I make a new tab, it appears next to the tab I'm on, and gets put into a subgroup. This would be a 5 star extension if it just did its job instead of trying to rearrange my tabs :|
  • (2023-03-02) А Л: completely pointless. doesn't save trees between app reload
  • (2023-02-21) Robert Westman: I was looking for the tree style tab experience I'm used to from Firefox, but the sidebar can't stay open...
  • (2023-01-13) hoxha hoxha: the best tab manager. Please allow for different windows to be included and not just the current one.
  • (2022-12-14) Yiyang Xu: Great idea, pretty aesthetics, user-friendly inline mode... However, why do you rearrange the tabs for me? Every new tab I open keeps jumping back and forth and that disrupts everything.
  • (2022-11-23) GR: Rally bad extension.. after installing it, tabs are jumping back and force, new tabs are created sometimes in the middle of the opened tabs.. opening a new tab jumps to the end.. opening a tab by dragging the address bar moves that new tab to the end.. horrible experience before realized that all these weird thing caused by this extension.. deleted immediately and what a relief :)
  • (2022-10-31) Frede Hald: Opens new tab very bad
  • (2022-10-14) Peter Scraps: Looks like this utility has been abandoned and turned into an e-mail farmer and (possibly) mines Monero. Requires an account, the account does nothing but redirect you to a discord link which I do not trust. To those saying this extension stopped them from being able to load new tabs, check your CPU usage in task manager. Mine was pegged at 100% till I disabled this extension and restarted chrome. I have quite a powerful CPU and I only thought to check when my room started to hotbox like when I'm rendering. A malware bytes scan revealed 8 executable's named automatically by the detection tool as "RiskWare.CoinMiner", windows defender corroborated that but only found one instance. I can't 100% confirm it was related to this, but it looks malicious, talks malicious and the project seems to have been abandoned.
  • (2022-09-05) Jacques Prestreau: Requires to create an account to be able to simply modify own's settings!!! Bin it!
  • (2022-08-22) Stephen S: Needs a lot of work but I like the idea. If the inline would do anything, if the external mode could move with the side of chromes window and auto minimise (Edit, I've done min and maxing with an AHK script) and also open when chrome is started would be nice and remember it's position before it closed the last time. Currently it does none of those fundamental things. If I click on the tabs in the view they change names to 'New Tab'. Will probably revisit this extension again in the future. Doesn't respect groups in chrome too. Oh, the discord link is not going anywhere and no way of closing the account either when you open one. I hope they don't go giving out my email address.
  • (2022-08-13) RAGE: Honestly, this might work for whoever really needs it but, for me, this really isn't it. I don't even know what Inline mode does, but you have to sign up for it and I really don't want to create an account. As a user, I just want to install my plug in and have it work, that's how installing a new plug-in usually works (in my experience). Also, it took me a minute to learn how to group the tabs. I kept trying to drag my tab on top of a related tab, turns out you have to drag the tab sideways. I also didn't like that it takes a few clicks just to get to my tabs. If I have to skim through multiple tabs, going through that process of opening the window can be tedious. I also just learned that Chrome already has a group tab options. It could use some visual improvements and a couple features could use some work but I think that would be my best option for now. This seems like a great idea, but I don't see myself using it for the moment. I might revisit later.
  • (2022-08-08) Сан Саныч: Sign in to your account -) One reason for this?
  • (2022-08-08) 동해랑 (r1c): Thanks for making such a great program! It's still cool, but I'd like to make a suggestion to develop it into a better program. Suggestion 1. I like to use Inline, but it is inconvenient to have to scroll when dozens of tabs are open. In order to reduce the inconvenience of having to scroll even a little, I wish there was an option that allows the user to collectively specify the height of the tabs displayed in a tree form. It would be nice to have a bar that adjusts the left and right widths like now, and it would be even better if there were two ways to directly input numbers. Suggestion 2. When I first used this extension and selected Inline, I was at a loss because I didn't know how to show the Tree shape. (Of course I know now.) I think we need some initial guides to tell you how to use them.
  • (2022-07-17) prdprdprdprdprdel: Ah, a tree tab manager that doesn't put tabs in a tree structure and where the only working buttons are "close tab" and "hibernate"..
  • (2022-07-10) Diane Nguyen: Inline does not work at all. Trees constantly reset randomly making me have to re-organise them. Works just barely okay enough for Chrome but doesn't compare to TST for Firefox.
  • (2022-06-16) Ryan Michael Sullivan: Like to see this being worked on but inline made doesn't seem to work at all so I don't see a point in using the project at the moment.
  • (2022-04-27) Mark C: The inline version seems to cause google search tabs to break when you attempt to open the tab manager
  • (2022-04-19) Angus Graham: Busted. Inline mode doesn't do anything. From looking at other review seems like it's not compatible with multi-monitor.
  • (2022-03-23) Veit Nachtmann: seriously, 13 USD per month for Dark Mode?!? :D booooooo!
  • (2022-03-19) Barney Pitt: Disappears when you move the mouse, settings menu takes you to a sign-up page. Er - no thank you.
  • (2022-02-28) Andy Chong: doesn't work and asking for $12.99 monthly subscription? seriously? netflix doesn't even cost that much
  • (2022-01-13) A Person: I am a little confused.. Installed, but there are no vertical tabs that I can see. Going to "options" on the extension opens some screen that asks me to "sign in"!? I don't understand - I thought this is a vertical tabs extension?! What's to sign in there?
  • (2021-11-24) whatsapp trick: Lots of bugs. It's still in beta but they have introduced premium plans before fixing them. Not good at all. Only the UI is good. Functionality wise the extension is bad.
  • (2021-11-23) Andrew Bailey: $12.99/mo for dark mode. It auto hides with no ability to dock. This is frustrating on multi-monitor setups. The options menu is hosted on a external website that you have to sign up for to access. $12.99/mo for dark mode.
  • (2021-10-31) Thomas Shin: Inline mode doesn't seem to work at all with multi-monitor setups and is thus completely inaccessible. By default it should always stay visible with an option to auto-hide. Not matching with Windows or Chrome theme is a huge negative and is not worth paying for a pro mode. Having to create an account to manage advanced features is also of dubious nature on top of the fact that it lacks almost all of the features of Firefox TST.
  • (2021-10-23) Flobbie: Dark Mode (a basic accessibility feature) is locked behind a paywall.
  • (2021-10-22) J G: This is the first (and so far only) extension to hit the trifecta - tree-style tabs, in a vertical sidebar, with the ability to drag & drop tabs. Took off a star due to a bug: drag & drop works only when moving a tab lower down the list. Dragging a tab up the list doesn't drop it in the desired location.
  • (2021-08-23) Ling Mao: Great! if I could highlight certain tabs that'll be even better!
  • (2021-07-25) Lance Lebanoff: The look and feel is amazing, best out of any extension! And it's the only one that provides inline mode. NOTE: when inline mode is enabled, it auto-hides, and you can bring it up by moving your cursor to the side of the screen.
  • (2021-07-17) Alex: 'Inline Mode' (the way most people would use this) literally does nothing. There's no way to bring up the interface at all. Have tried on Chrome, Brave and Vivaldi. Nothing.
  • (2021-02-18) Parham Saei: from the first few minutes I enabled it, I loved it <3 but it would be awesome to have more themes and of course in-window sidebar and most importantly right-click context menu options for unsuspending tabs etc...
  • (2021-01-15) Smoking Amalek: Crashes everything, eats ram like a mf, suspends pages even when I tell it not to. Lacks many basic TST features such as directly closing tabs. Moving the mouse to the side of the screen registers only with a specific stroke pattern. Tabstree (for chrome) is much more spartan, but at least it gets the basics right. This is inferior in every way, just with unearned ambitious of greatness.
  • (2021-01-06) Paul Marks: The best Tree-style tabs extension for Chrome. Not perfect, but what is? I'm very happy, thanks much for all your work. And great intro/walkthrough video too :)
  • (2020-12-15) Samson Wu: I like it, but please add some more themes!
  • (2020-09-23) Bret Aarden: This is the best (only?) tree-style tab manager for Chrome. For refugees from Firefox like me, it gives me back a lot of the productivity I had before moving to Chrome. Personally I always use pop-up mode.
  • (2020-09-16) micom fa: lack so many essential features: select multiple tabs, close multiple tabs, re arrange tabs like on tabs bar, always open sidepanel...
  • (2020-09-07) Martin: WHY DOES IT KEEP RESETTING?!?!?! This is getting really annoying. Every / every-other day the tab bar windows will randomly close. I'll then open them up again for the 3 browser windows I have open → manually select which window I want the tab bars to show → move the tab bars to minimize how much space is wasted (I move the x button to the very edge of the screen; make pinned tabs the uppermost item on monitor) → then notice that the nesting and arranging of my tabs is now completely reset → now have to rearrange everything for the 10th time, the pointless margin between tabs forces me to scroll up and down, rearranging them → I check if I can resize the tabs to make them fit to the screen, so I wouldn't have to scroll → can't find any kind of "compact tabs" option → try to stretch the 'tab bar window', thinking maybe I could at least make it easier to reach the tab title text.. → "stretch limit = 300".. Ok.. I unstretch it back → see that it's now showing tabs from the wrong window.. → I move the tab bar back from my improved position so I can select "Window_249", wait, no, "Window_2501", or was it "Window_259"/"Window_1"? GOD what a pain this thing is to use. The inline thing is even more broken than pop-up.. Only SOMETIMES opening. Even then, can never tell where the activation point is. Like, maybe, allow the option to define X and Y points for activation? Allow activation on hotkey? Allow deciding how quickly the inline disappears? btw, that screen darkening effect needs work.. HOW can you make something THIS bad!?! wth? Seriously, this is like a pre-alpha. The "small" blatant design mistakes though, are inexcusable. If you want I'll improve its design for you for free. If this wasn't the ONLY available choice for a vertical tabs plugin, or if tree tabs was available on Chromium, or if Firefox, Vivaldi or Brave weren't slow AF pieces of s*** or if Microsoft hadn't removed tab groups from Edge Chromium.. I'd be using anything else. Since the impossible has happened, and EVERY single other option is unavailable just out of insanely bad luck, I'm forced to keep using this awful plugin. I understand it can never be as good as tree style tabs—let alone the superior tree tabs—due to Google's incompetence and Chromium's limitations, but all of my points still stand.
  • (2020-08-21) Prof Plum: Perfect! I've been looking for something to replace sidewise since sidewise doesn't work so well on mac or with chrome apps. And this is exactly what I was looking for! Simple, elegant & integrated :)
  • (2020-08-21) Frantiseko Hallo: Doesn't work with some sites, make them unrenderable, make some google search clicks open on background, does not follow clicks to reorganize nested items in the tree/subtrees. Anyway but still promising.
  • (2020-08-07) Lavnesh Goel: As of now for chrome no one is better than this.
  • (2020-07-30) Руслан: Бесполезная туфта.. ничего не могущая.. есть в милион раз лучше
  • (2020-07-26) 柯亦凡Ivan K.: Its cool but for 2 windows of chrome, it work only for one =(
  • (2020-07-17) Diego Nuevo García: Absolutely wonderful! Just what I was looking for. Much less intrusive and nicer looking than other extensions such as Tabs Outliner. The only thing I miss is a keyboard shortcut (an upcoming feature) and the ability to click on the extension to get the menu right away instead of using the left side automatic hover, just in case it gets in the way for some sites that use the left side in their UI (so far it's been pleasant to use, I didn't find any annoyance).
