Description from extension meta

Makes it more convenient to use Wiktionary.

Image from store Better Wikitionary
Description from store It currently includes the following features. 1. Context menu for word selection. Unlike other existing Wiktionary extensions, my extension reuses the tab, so if you look up multiple times, the browser will not be flooded with Wiktionary tabs. 2. Adds language switch icons next to the entry title. This was necessary for me for learning French, because sometimes the English version for a French word entry did not have as detailed explanation as the French version. I need to switch between English and French version, and the stock way ("Languages" at the middle of the left bar) was not convenient. 3. Adds a button to toggle links. This is to make it easy to copy plain text. 4. Adds a button to play the pronunciation next to each of the pronunciation players. This is because Wiktionary's website has a bug that when "Tabbed language" is used, switching to another tab makes the pronunciation players on the new tab empty. The only workaround has been refreshing the page, which was annoying. More features will be added later...

  • (2023-09-04) Łukasz Józefczyk: It's awesome.
  • (2023-04-12) Arda ŞEN: The flags appear on the top is awesome, had to go between English and Russian because of the same problem you had but the ' and space combination, when I make an apostrophe on my keyboard, they are not the same, can you come up with a solution for this.
  • (2022-12-01) Die große Göttin: Hello! how can I exclude from the table of content all those articles in languages that i dont need? im interested only in french, english, german and dont wanna see articles about all the other languages it is boring to scroll over and over
  • (2022-07-14) Rafael Cirilo: Is it possible for the extension to open the wiktionary page in a new tab but I stay in the original tab? What I really wish is to open multiple wiktionary pages.
  • (2021-08-05) Jean D'Enfer: It's alright
  • (2021-06-17) Cole Lawrence Peltier: This app is pretty useful. I would like to see Vietnamese as an option. When you look at an entry, five flags are added at the top, and these link to other-language Wiktionary sites. That's cool, but it would be nice to be able to customize this ribbon for different languages (beyond those preset five).

  • (2022-03-30, v:1.7) Charlie Halpern-Hamu: Could the hover pop-up remain even for unliked language flag icons?
When a language is not available, its link flag is (1) unlinked, (2) greyed out, and (3) without a anchor-title-attribute pop-up describing the target language. (1) This is necessary. (2) This is helpful, but a little awkward for flags that only differ by color. (3) This could be improved: the language name could remain so that I could mouse over to see the language that isn't available, even when I can't immediately recognize the black-and-white flag. Maybe this requires the title attribute on another element? Or a link that either (a) links nowhere, (b) links back to the same page, or (c) links to the root page of the other language.
  • (2022-03-30, v:1.7) Charlie Halpern-Hamu: Documentation link needs updating
On the settings page, the target of this link is no longer available: Language code reference --> http://www.mathguide.de/info/tools/languagecode.html
  • (2022-03-30, v:1.7) Charlie Halpern-Hamu: Catalonian flag
The language code "ca" works. Could the flag code "CT" be added? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalonia
