  • (2023-10-18) Mubarak Badamasi: This extension works really well, truly helpfull
  • (2023-09-21) Gary Styger: This extension works really well. It helps in my workflow.
  • (2023-07-27) Ethan Alvarée: Totally changed my workflow in Overleaf :D Thank you!
  • (2023-07-27) Jie Song (Jay): Writefull is perfectly integrated with Overleaf. It suggests language revisions that suit an academic setting, which is my most favorite part about Writefull.
  • (2023-07-17) Peng Jiang: Don't buy it. It's a junk. I purchased a one-year subscription because of all the positive reviews here, its integration with overleaf, and the lower price compared to grammarly and notion AI editor. However, after a few hours use, I realize its writing is gabage, nothing compared to grammarly or notion AI. As a researcher in AI/ML, I suspect that the product is created by someone who do not have language model themselves but simply wrap around chatgpt.
  • (2023-07-17) Jorge Santos: Really love this extension. The language edits are more advanced than those of other tools, and you also see that it's made for scientific texts. I didn't experience any of the slowness that some people reported, never had issues with loading or Overleaf going slower. Some of the widgets are nice-to-have but I don't find myself using them often, like the generator for titles and abstracts. But the paraphaser is really good and texgpt is super helpful with the Latex part. I hope they add the academizer to this tool soon too.
  • (2023-07-17) Mehmet Erdem Arslan: I suspect the positive comments here are actually coming from real users. This chrome extension is way less developed to be released at the moment, with lots of bugs and errors. After using it for one and a half months, I can now confidently say that you should avoid it, especially if you are a social science researcher. At least for now. It can of course improve in the future, but I do not want to fund this improvement myself. Several examples from errors: the software re-read the text everytime you type a single character, even a comma or a dot. In theory this is not bad, but in practice it works extremely slow, freezing the browser every single time, and becomes a real pain. Similarly, the software reads only the part of the text on your screen, and as you scroll down it re-reads the text and you experience a lot of delays and errors. The paraphrase suggestions, without an exaggeration, yileds 1 good answer out of 100. And often it gives suggestions that does not make sense. Recently, when I reject a suggestion for a word, the same suggestion reappears over and over again, just as I go over to the next suggestion. I think the main challenge is to make it work on chrome. I tried many different times with different computers and the results are the same. It is taking hours to go over a single article, if not all day. The second challenge is to improve the model, I guess. Maybe the developers need more data to do it, but again, I do not want to pay and provide data to a not-ready software.
  • (2023-07-16) Cledson Oliveira de Sousa: Amazing!
  • (2023-07-11) Patrick R. Batista: I like this product a lot. It has deeper linguistic analysis than other tools. Works very well with latex and my favorite thing about writefull is the sentence rewriting suggestions. They help to correct and make the text more professional.
  • (2023-07-06) Torje Nysæther: It's okay for basic grammar mistakes as a non-native speaker, but I am not impressed with the more advanced features. Super annoying that it forgets which suggestions you have rejected, especially when it is a phrase used many times in the text. Also kind of buggy, and makes Overleaf freeze sometimes. I also don't understand why things like "Abstract generator" and "Title Generator" are in the main tool-bar, as they will not be used repetitively, and are neither very good. The OG Chat-GPT also gives out much better Latex code than the TexGPT, which is fair since it's in beta, but the sum of everything makes the price not worth it imo.
  • (2023-07-06) zhonglin xie: I highly recommend using this extension for academic writing in Overleaf. This helps me pay all attention to the content and does not fare to make grammar errors.
  • (2023-07-05) Milad Jamalzadeh: It's a great product. Especially if you use OverLeaf. Totally worth the price.
  • (2023-07-02) Yuchen Zhu: Hi, The thing I love most about writefull is that its cooperation with overleaf, it is used as the built-in tool of overleaf. Also, it helps rewrite sentences which boosts my acadamic performance.
  • (2023-06-29) zerox102: It's ok, but it's buggy. When I reject several suggestions in a row, the second latest rejected suggestion keeps popping back up, basically leading to an infinite loop where something is always highlighted. It doesn't go away until I reload the page entirely. Very irritating.
  • (2023-06-29) Alejandra Garrido Atienza: I am thrilled with this tool. I just discovered this some days ago when I was starting to write a paper and just before beginning to write the PhD Thesis, so basically, it has saved me! I think one of the best tools is the abstract and title creation, and I love this part. Also, the sentence palette is convenient!
  • (2023-06-28) Kentaro Hoffman: Absolutely stupidly useful software. Will never go back to not using it.
  • (2023-06-27) Dong Hae Ho: I really liked this app when its in 400 words limitation trial era. After I purchased the service. There have been lots of problems while using in the overleaf. They just cannot detect newly added text, which is serious problem, and when the text is under the radar of Writefull, it cannot be editted by clicking the text area and I should go to the left or right character to edit words. Also, overleaf is just frozen right after editting one single character. Overleaf is advertising this product on top of every project so I gave it a try but, it seems they are really buggy. I cannot recommend it. I wanna know how other guys use this product.
  • (2023-06-26) Benito Arias: Sometimes it gives blatantly wrong solutions. Other times it slows down the work. Sometimes part of the text disappears in the latex editor. The idea is excellent, but many details need to be polished. ----------- I edit my previous rating. Now the program works perfectly. Thanks to the quick response from Customer Support. Both Juan Castro and Craig Stewart have responded quickly and efficiently to the issues I emailed. Thank you.
  • (2023-06-24) paulo: Writefull is very easy to use and helps a lot with a very intuitive interface.
  • (2023-06-22) Nairouz Mrabah: It proved to be a valuable tool that greatly contributed to the enhancement of my academic papers. The customer support provide quick response and are very helpful.
  • (2023-06-21) Fabricio Arend T.: Language check is nice. The rephrasing feature from the premium version is quite bad, the sentences are not even remotely correct in terms of grammar. Furthermore the extension is extremely slow, reloading for a second after each change in overleaf. It is not possible to just accept some words / phrases into a dictionary. After rejecting, they reappear. The title recommendation is a nice gimmick but ultimately useless. While neat, this product is not sufficient for a paid service.
  • (2023-06-20) Hoàng Phan Huy: I love your extension. I am a student at the University of Information Technology - Vietnam National University. I am developing an extension that helps lecturers and students write reports based on my school's criteria. Would you be willing to publish the source code so that I can use it as a foundation for developing a similar extension for my school? This is a nonprofit project, and it would be freely available to students and lecturers at my school. Thank you.
  • (2023-06-20) Areeg Samir: One of the worst app ever. The trial works very well but once you purchase the app and you add it to chrome to use it in overleaf, the app keeps crashing every time you write, or edit. It is terrible. I removed all the extensions from chrome and the app keeps crashing. I did all the required maintenance but it keeps crashing. I don't recommend the app at all.
  • (2023-06-09) Daniel Salomons: I got myself the paid version of Writefull the same day that I hit the suggestion limit, which was the second day writing with Writefull. Since then I have used its suggestions countless times, helping me greatly improve the grammar of my thesis. Writefull's suggestions are genuinely good, and its integration with Overleaf is fantastic. The extension seamlessly works with LaTeX commands and macros, even being able to contextualise the grammar of a full sentence that contains LaTeX commands (in other words, if a sentence is interrupted by a \textbf{LaTeX command}, Writefull correctly interprets it as a running sentence). There is also a neat switch to be able to toggle between UK and US English. I personally do not use any other features than the suggestions, but that alone makes the extension worth it for me.
  • (2023-05-18) Iris Dominguez: It's a bit unstable sometimes, but the suggestions are just brilliant and very worth it. For an academic researcher, writing in LaTeX, I don't think there is a single reasonable alternative. I just wish they will officially release for Firefox soon, Overleaf + Writefull is the only reason I have Chrome installed in my computer.
  • (2023-05-12) Laura Hargreaves: Hi, I love writefull but hate that this extension is only available on Chrome. Will there be other browser extensions coming soon?
  • (2023-05-08) Jack Donnelly: I recently subscribed to Writefull to help with editing my thesis, and I have to say, it has been a game-changer for me. I had the pleasure of interacting with your customer service representative, Craig who helped me get a refund after my account had accidently renewed. Great product and great service :)
  • (2023-04-21) Gerhard Riener: This is a very helpful tool, letting you spot common mistakes and gives sensible improvement suggestions. When you encounter something that does not work, contact the support team, they are super fast in responding and very helpful!
  • (2023-04-18) Alice Lynch-Jackson: It is fantastic to have a latex compatiable grammar checker, particularly with an academic writing focus. The team is amazing, they respond to feedback and bug reports incredibly quickly. And while it is a premium feature, the texGPT feature makes generating tables, adding figures and generally dealing with the eccentricities of latex 100x easier. I can write a bullet pointed list and then select it and turn it into a latex item list in seconds. The grammar checking itself is not perfect, and it does get stuck in a loop - it particularly likes adding and removing commas. The full sentence grammar checking and restructuring recommendations are particularly useful. It's doing a lot and actively improving.
  • (2023-03-15) Andrea Genovese: I have the premium version. Suggestions are ok (not chat-gpt level) and it is nice that it integrates with overleaf, however it is soo buggy. Most times it does not work with live editing and you need to reload the page each time you make a modifications. I keep having to relog in every couple of hours. In some occasions the system contradicts itself leading to a loop. It is in essence a useful tool and I dont expect them to be chat gpt, but they need to resolve these bugs.
  • (2022-11-17) Hetal Chaudhari: This is one of the most important tools for Masters and PhD students in STEM. Must be made extremely popular and must be bought in bulk by universities around the world. The free version itself makes such a big difference. After using the free version I thought of using the premium version and I found out that my thesis report was unrecognizable from what I had written. One of the few apps in the world that I will support wholeheartedly. DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!
  • (2022-11-07) Kevin Voogd: I used this extension to review my master's thesis before submitting it. I must say that the recommendations I received were more often than not useful. It also made me realize common mistakes I was doing when writing my report. The only thing I can complain about is that it could not paraphrase well enough specific technical content but that can probably be fixed in the future. It is just a matter of time. Nevertheless, the proofreading is amazing and definitely would recommend it for the final stages of the writing process. Moreover, the customer service is incredible. I had one question and almost instantaneously the problem was fixed for me. Good job!
  • (2022-08-22) Laurence Antao: Seems to work better for academic writing than rival products. Support staff very helpful too. Some of the newer features look promising too but I haven't used them yet.
  • (2022-07-21) Tor: This is a great and useful tool. I've used the premium subscription in final passes on journal articles and my dissertation. I do find that on longer files, as edits are accepted or rejected it takes longer and longer to move to the next recommendation, which is annoying. I probably reject about 50% of the recommended changes but the other 50% are well worth it. It forces me to think about what I intended to write. If you're looking for something to help with reviewing this is a great tool. It won't solve all your problems but it will certainly help.
  • (2022-06-14) Sylwia Malec: I've been using Writefull for some time now and the grammar checker substantially improved during this time. I tested Grammarly also, but I find Writefull more useful for academic writing. Development team is excellent - they are responsive and appreciate every feedback. I absolutely love their eagerness to improve the product :)
  • (2022-05-17) neo ted: Good language tool. But for overleaf, it only checks several final paragraphs. The first half of my article is ignored.
  • (2022-04-20) Nugroho Sapto Wibowo: An excellent application, very helpful in academics and also in daily life as a teacher
  • (2022-04-19) Alex Forbes: This software is incredibly helpful - for writing a final year dissertation project in a technical research discipline I found other systems not well suited but writeful functions very well when processing academic writing.
  • (2022-04-11) PS: I enjoyed using Writefull as I was wrapping up my doctoral dissertation and only wish I had it earlier! I can highly recommend it, especially in combination with Overleaf! The app is great!
  • (2022-04-07) Jonathan Nikoleyczik: I used this extension along with the Premium subscription to write my PhD thesis. I wrote most of my thesis without this, but then went back and corrected hundreds of missed commas, weird wording, and poor formatting. Even though my thesis had tons of equations and figures this extension was able to parse the text and give recommendations. Even during the writing of my thesis (the last few months) there were improvements to the recommendations and more errors / changes were found more recently than my first revision. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to save some time proofreading
  • (2022-03-22) Jennifer Wu: Somehow some of my projects on overleaf doesn't show the icon so I can't use writefull for those projects.
  • (2022-03-08) Yao Xiao: It is a really great proofreading tool, especially when you're not a native English speaker and need to write paper in latex. Me personally use it when writing my master thesis, it works flawlessly with overleaf and delivers desirable result, no need to copy the text out and paste into other proofreading extension anymore.
  • (2022-01-25) Ludvig Joborn: Great suggestions, but hiding correction suggestions (a core feature) behind a paywall is rather unsatisfactory. As a student on a tight budget, this won't do.
  • (2022-01-20) Stéphane Adam: I love it! Finally a good spell check for overleaf.
  • (2021-12-23) Evalds Urtans (yellow-robots): Works great with overleaf!!
  • (2021-12-10) Ana G: I have appreciated a lot the Writefull extension for Overleaf. Proofreading of latex files is such a pain, but writefull highlights most of problematic places in the text and gives very helpful suggestions. It appeared to be extremely useful for editing my PhD thesis. I don't regret paying for premium version for this period of thesis writing, it really saved me a lot of time and made the editing process certainly less stressful. The only thing I regret is that I haven't found this extension earlier.
  • (2021-12-10) 久谷雄一: I used Writefull only a few times but felt it seemed a powerful tool for writing for me so far. I have been using Grammarly for the last few years and will try Writefull this year instead because it is useful for me that Writefull checks English while writing documents on Overleaf.
  • (2021-12-03) Omer Anis: I use the app for any writing, whether it is emails or scientific writing. Wonderful app. Highly recommended.
  • (2021-12-02) Fernando Chacon: I wrrote my thesis with Overleaf and I Writefull was very usefull and uncomplicated to use. Thanks!
  • (2021-11-21) Malte Eo: All the outstanding features are dependent on a premium subscription of 15$ per month. That isn't a problem but you can only pay with credit card, which at least for me is not possible. It's almost 2022 and you don't even have paypal??
