Warns when common scammer tactics are performed on webpages.
Scam Swatter watches for common scammer tactics locally in the browser. When possible scammer tactics are detected, Scam Swatter displays obvious warnings. The extension shows dismissable warnings for: - Sites with links to download Remote Access Software. Remote Access Software is often used by scammers to connect to victim's computers. The message is dismissable because at this point in the scam, the scammer has not connected to the victim's computer, so the scammer cannot dismiss the message themselves. The extension shows undismissable, hard-to-alter warnings for: - Chrome's devtools opening. Technically unskilled users have no reason to need to open devtools. So when devtools are open, it is possibly a mistake in which case the user can just refresh the page to remove the warning, or the user has a scammer connected to their computer and is trying to alter the contents of the website to trick the user.
