Description from extension meta

Parses text and adds an event to a user's Google Calendar.

Image from store Add to gCal
Description from store 🔃 Remember to refresh your page or restart Chrome after installing. 📅 Lets you highlight an event like 'call with the team tomorrow at 3pm on Zoom' and with the click of a button, add the parsed event to any of your Google Calendars. It'll recognize that the event name is 'call with the team,' the time is 7/3/2020 (the next day) at 3pm, and the location is Zoom. 📅 Especially useful for emails that don't include an 'Add to calendar' button. 👆 In order to use Add to gCal, right-click on the extension icon (the blue calendar) after downloading, click "Options," connect your Google Calendar, and finally grant permissions. ⌨ Shortcut: after highlighting an event, press and hold Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows, ChromeOS, and Linux or Command+Shift+F on Mac to open the event menu instantly. ✅ Made the extension because the alternatives that I've tried on the web store are non-functional or don't handle location well. ✅ Note that Add to gCal will only ever add an event that you deliberately specify to a calendar that you deliberately specify. Furthermore, the extension does not store any personally identifying information, event information, or account information. 👩‍💻 Developers: The serverless API (AWS Lambda) that this extension communicates with has no database attached to it in the first place which ensures that no information is stored. No logging of event information takes place on the server either. 🔏 To clarify all of this, the extension's privacy policy and terms of service can be found at https://addtogcal.herokuapp.com/privacy-policy.

  • (2023-03-16) Justin Hake: Add the extension, followed the setup instructions, and then went to some reservation details on a website that didn't have the handy "Add to calendar" hyperlink (literally the ONLY reason I added the extension)...the extension failed to recognize any of the information. Couldn't see a date, a location - nothing. Deleted and moved on...save yourself the time and skip it altogether.

  • (2023-03-04, v:3.7.6) Jared McGuire: Improve the notes field
Show the notes field defaulted as blank. Have a button for "Insert highlighted text" that autofill's it like what is done now.
  • (2023-03-04, v:3.7.6) Jared McGuire: Calender selection dropdown order and selection
The list order seems to be random. It would be nice if the top choice was my personal calendar, then list all the others alphabetically. Also, it would be very convenient if it remembered and auto selected the last calendrer that I selected.
  • (2021-12-03, v:3.7.6) Steve Janke: incorrect time parse, and false error: Error processing your request. Make sure that your end date and time are after your start date and time.
If I select this text: "Manhattan Spirit of the Holidays Lighted Parade This year’s parade will be held on Friday, December 3rd, 2021 at 5:30 p.m." and click on the add to gcal, it sets the start time to 5:30am and the end time to 12:am. If I change the start time to 5:30pm and end time to 6:30pm, when I try to add to calendar, I get the error: Error processing your request. Make sure that your end date and time are after your start date and time.
  • (2021-05-16, v:3.7.6) Matt Carson: Time zone
It's setting events to the wrong time zone. 2hrs ahead. Double-checked my cal settings...
  • (2021-01-28, v:3.7.6) Steve Janke: preserve links
The text I selected had a link to a url, but in the resulting calendar event description the link was removed and it was just plain text. Please preserve the links. And thank you for providing this add-on.
