When updating it, it shows an error, it requests access again to google Drive and it says "Request Invalid" so it stopped working altogether. It is a great extension, or it was. • (2023-04-20) Miguel Rodriguez: I was super happy with it, initially I gave it 5 stars, but since mid March it stopped working. It captures only the name of the first person in the meeting, and after that it just saves a huge block of text of everything that was said, without identifying who or breaking paragraphs. Also the camera icon to capture screenshots, is no longer there. I reported the issue couple of times, but no answer.

When it stopped working I tried to reach out to thanesh, via email, even calling his current company to ask for his current details. Unfortunately, to no avail. • (2023-03-19) Adam Kircher: Good: I tried so many different note-taking apps both paid and unpaid, and this was the simplest and the best. Better than otter, noty, laxis, scribbl, firefly, native google transcripts. Here is why: 1) It doesn't need a "bot" added to the room like many services. This means others don't know that you are are using the service unless you tell them. 2) Unlike many others, this extension creates the google doc in real-time not just at the end of the call. This is nice, because (A) I can see that it's working and (B) chat the google doc link with other people in the meeting while we are there rather than emailing it to them afterward or going through the transcription's site's portal. 3) The google docs are named after the meeting's name in the calendar. Others have to be exported to google docs via their portal, or saved in google docs with the meeting id ("abc-defg-hij") which is very unhelpful when searching for the correct transcript. Bad: The extension stopped working for me last week and when I tried to uninstall and reinstall, google would not let me reconnect the extension with google drive. The oauth said "request invalid". I wish the author would fix, I would pay for this app.

Previously, despite most meeting being held virtually as our company operates all over the state, we had someone manually typing minutes for everything. Meet Transcript has been perfect - it copies everything down, even a sneeze, and we just need to do a quick skim over the document after to fix any minor translation issues (generally, company-specific nicknames). We also love that anyone who has the extension can take these notes, it makes it much more versatile than one person needing to attend a million meetings just for minutes. I work with a diverse group of people with different microphone setups, and frankly I cannot hear a couple of them. I found having a transcript of the CC is equally beneficial. • (2022-01-27) Tim Blunt: A fantastic add-on that makes great use of the Google Meet captions functionality, giving me the opportunity to review the transcript of any meetings I've attended, after the event! I really like the way you can set the captions to not be visible, as I find this very distracting. Also, the developer has been very responsive and quick to fix any issues that came up! It would be preferable if it didn't default to the Cambria typeface (Verdana would seem to be the best option within Google docs - still has serifs on a capital 'i', but is otherwise a low-detail font), but it's not a huge issue to select all and then change the font manually.

• (2022-01-26) Sandy C.: Hello All, I posted a review a few days ago because the Meet Transcript wasn't functioning properly at all ... wasn't providing time stamp, identifying the speakers, and the entire google meet was one long paragraph. I am happy to say that I've that review has since been deleted, as I received a response from the publisher who indicated that the bugs are out... so true. I used Meet Transcript again today in Southern California - in a long, long meeting and I am happy to say that it's working great. I'm giving it 4 stars today, until the next meeting to see if it withstand the corrections during that transcribing. Thanesh, Meet Transcript author, took the time to actually personally respond to me in this forum, and addressed the issue and suggested a download of v3.1.9 but I just used the same version that I initially downloaded. Thank you Thanesh.

• (2021-09-01) Andrew Cochrane: I am an avid user of Google captioning and was recently introduced to this extension to capture important transcriptions when required at work with consent of course. However myself being a deaf user who solely use captioning daily I didn't like the fact it was capturing every meeting transcriptions automatically from daily stand up etc. That prompts me to disable the extension when I am not required to record the transcription but in need to use google captioning for my own needs. It seems like an oversight to be able to disable it in the tool itself so I wonder if you could create a function button in order to click start the transcription instead of it coming on automatically just because I have captions running.

• (2021-08-26) Emma Campbell: The app works just fine and found it very user friendly. There are obviously workds that get missed or miss-interpreted but you can't ask the app to work miracles when people mumble and it's not hard to do a corrections run-through. My main issue it that it only seems to be in English. I work in a Francphone/Anglophone area and our meetings are almost all bilingual. I will unfortunately have to try to find another app that accommodates for this particularity. I am sure there are other areas that work in multiple languages though, so it would be really cool if a future iteration of this app could somehow be linked with google translate or something to work in more languages. (I honestly have no idea how these apps are built and I assume it's a far more complicated process than I made it sound).
• (2021-08-17) Craig Faas: Very flaky. Misses recording of transcription regularly with no indication whatsoever. Users cannot tell when it is working or not working. Not a reliable product. Interface needs work. It needs to be obvious if a transcription is being made and recorded or not. This is not a commercially reliable tool at this time.

  Hello, I am having issues with my recording transcribing into words. I downloaded the "https://thanesh.dev/meet-transcript" and have followed all of the instructions. When I turned on to record in Google Meet, I did click the "cc" button to turn off captions as this was too distracting to see it on screen. Once meeting was complete, it seemed to have automatically generated to google drive, I opened that meeting recording in my google drive under Meet Recordings and downloaded it to my files on computer. I then opened Meet Transcription in my google drive and uploaded this same file from my computer files. All that did was downloaded the video again into the Meet Transcription and I thought the purpose of uploading the recording file to Meet Transcription was for it to take the recording and transcribe it into words? I am needed a full document of the transcription only and thought it would do this once downloading. I am clearly missing crucial steps here somewhere. Wondering if turning off captions affects Meet Transcript ability to actually transcribe into words after the recording is downloaded? Or is it something else I am missing? I was hoping to record the meeting and then have a document of full transcription (words of the entire conversation) that I can have for requirements of a course I am taking. (All parties involved have signed consents and agreed to the recordings and transcriptions as well.) Can you please help and please advise? Thank you.

  Meet Transcript is taking up the bottom third of the Google Meet screen, which significantly reduces the size of a meeting participant's shared screen, making it almost impossible to read. In the demo video in the Chrome store, this does not appear to be an issue. Even when I check "Hide captions from appearing on screen", an empty black box (where captions would otherwise be) from the Meet Transcript extension still takes up the bottom third of the Google Meet screen.

  The transcription is working. However, it is logged as if it was only one participant talking. I've been using the extension for quite some time, and it was working fine.   Is there a time limit that the transcript runs? I'm finding that it only captures part of my meeting.

  I have recorded meetings in Meet, and the closed captions appear, but it would be helpful if I could print the closed captions or the entire transcript of the recording itself. I added the Meet Transcript extension, but I cannot seem to get this to work. Any help or feedback is appreciated.

  Hello, author of Meet Transcript here, I'm sharing this to inform that Meet Transcript isn't working at the moment due to an issue on Google's end to create/update the transcript. I'll be monitoring the issue closely and will notify if there are any changes.

  Thanks for this great extension! It would be very helpful if the transcript would contain relative timestamps (i.e. time since start of recording) could be included. This would help going back to the recording much easier. (If you record, that is...)

  Hi Thenesh, great chrome extension. I am using it with my friend whose mother is hearing impaired (3/4 deaf). We've taught her to use captions extensively to connect with relatives, and we are trying out your extension now. So far so good, except one little thing: Scrolling to the bottom of the Google Doc to keep up with the most recent transcriptions is a chore. Do you think it would be possible to insert the latest transciptions at the top instead of the end of the document? What do you think? If you are short of time I could help with making it work. • (2021-02-17, v:3.1.0) Matt Bourque: Unable to provide Google Sign-in Code to app
  After a while the google drive connection expires. When this happens (Transcribe has the red icon) it requests that I sign in to google again to connect drive. When I do so, Google gives me a code along with the message "Please copy this code, switch to your application and paste it there", but there is no obvious place for me to provide this code to Transcribe. Is there a way for me to do this as an end user?

  This is really amazing. I can review what I said in my English lesson with this. And, if this could support spread sheet format like Google Sheet or csv, it would be genuinely perfect. I want to sort time, speakers and transcripts, so that I can select my own words. I would be really appreciate it if you consider this option at your next update. Thanks a lot.

  It's my first time using this and I've allowed the permissions. But, I can't see the icons on Meet screen. Also, the document was not made on Google Drive. Could you please check the issue? Thank you.

  I have been using this extension with great appreciation for some online teaching I now have to do (with many around the world!). On Monday (25th Jan), it was working (across a number of "webkit(?)" browsers, including Chrome, Edge, and Brave). But today, Wednesday (27th Jan) it isn't. I have re-installed it, set new permissions, turned comments off/on, etc., all without any help. I don't know whether something has changed "behind the scenes", or whether the problem is local to me. It is a great disappointment, though, and I hope a fix is forthcoming. It would be good to know whether other users have had the same experience. Thanks!

  I'm wondering if Google has made a change that has stopped your extension from working? It was working for me previously and working well. But I noticed it's not been working for me since Monday. I don't know if Google made a change? I also had installed two other extensions last Friday (a Google PIP one and a Meets timer). I thought they might have been the cause so uninstalled all and then reinstalled your extension but still no luck :(
