Image from store Roamer - Airbnb Internet Speeds
Description from store Roamer appears above the pricing panel whenever you are browsing vacation rental listings on Airbnb. Geographically narrow your search - Roamer provides a simple rating scale you can use to compare neighborhood internet performance across listings worldwide. Request a speed test - With one click Roamer will pre-populate a message to the host asking them to run an internet speed test from the property. Where does the data come from? Roamer uses the raw data generated from Google's internet speed test. We have done the work to clean and translate the millions of speed tests run each day into a few trustworthy metrics. What websites does Roamer work with? Currently, Roamer is only compatible with Airbnb. What information can I see with Roamer? 1) Download Speed The speed at which information travels from the internet to your device. For example, if you are video chatting, your download speed would determine your ability to view other participants. Measured in megabits per second (Mbps). 2) Upload Speed The speed at which information travels from your device to the internet. So if you are video chatting, your upload speed would impact how other participants view your video feed. Measured in megabits per second (Mbps). 3) Latency Latency is the time required for a signal to travel from one computer to another computer on the network and back. When video chatting, high latency will cause delays in your conversation. Measured in milliseconds (MS). 4) Homes Tested The number of unique addresses tested in the neighborhood over the past year. Generally, a neighborhood covers an area of 0.25 square miles (0.6 square km). What do the ranges indicate? The lower and upper bound of the range represent the 25th and 75th percentiles of all homes speed tested in the neighborhood. Who is Roamer for? - World travelers that need to know where they can get connected. - Digital nomad's that want to travel the world and work from anywhere. - Remote workers that need a reliable WiFi connection for video calls. - People tired of working from home that want to plan a last minute vacation.

  • (2022-06-30) Sam: So glad I found this. The paid option is definitely worth it, it will make finding an airbnb with good internet so much easier for me, especially when looking for places outside city centers. It uses google speed test data, so every place I have checked has data available, even super remote places.
  • (2022-01-09) Brayden McLean: The free version of the product doesn't show speed on listings.
  • (2020-12-14) Nick Beyer: Seamless integration into airbnb's website. And as a host, seeing "Great Internet" on my listing makes me happy.
  • (2020-12-05) Johnny O'Donnell: As an employee at a large tech company with a highly competitive culture, I can't afford to stay in a place with poor internet while travelling. Roamer is crucial for someone like myself who values my career but also likes to travel. Roamer helps me eliminate places that have poor internet so that I don't dial-in to a meeting and have absolutely no one understand what I'm saying.
  • (2020-12-04) Ryan Riley: Incredibly useful, especially this year, as so many are working from home/remotely. Makes it simple to plan a getaway while still having the peace of mind of reliable internet for work. Very clean extension that shows up right in Airbnb listings as you search.

  • (2020-12-01) Andrew Nelson: Roamer's awesome 👏I love being able to find airbnbs with solid network speeds! As a remote worker, having a good internet connection is huge and I love it that now I don't have to worry about that when I book an airbnb.
  • (2020-11-30) Austin Regnery: As an all remote employee and heavy internet user personally, this extension has helped bring peace of mind and set expectations. I can quickly see a range of speeds and verify with the host what their maximum is. It was super simple to install and works on all types of listings. 👏
  • (2020-11-30) Vivian Martinez: Essential extension for Chrome. I spend more than 50% of my time on video calls for work, and Roamer has helped me find destinations with wifi that supports my needs. Rating system is intuitive and easy to understand. Extremely helpful!

  • (2020-11-25) tyler c: The essential app for the post-covid / wfh world. Roamer helps me verify where there is great internet and is very accurate—unlike the airbnb hosts who always respond with "we have great wifi" when asked about their internet.
  • (2020-11-25) Keji Xu: Sorely needed when evaluating different airbnbs. There was too much headache dealing with slow internet in the past. Now, I don't have to take that risk - I can travel to cool places and still have the confidence to have good connectivity for work.

  • (2020-11-25) Tyler Servais: I spent weeks planning a workation only to find out that the internet wouldn't be good enough. Roamer helped me pivot my plans to an ideal location in Hawaii! I love using the extension to daydream about and plan future work locations.
  • (2020-11-25) David Sawyer: This extension has already provided me a ton of value when browsing Airbnb. Hello. I am planning to stay in Northern Italy (Milan, Venice, Alps, Lakes) for 4 weeks. I really appreciate you have developed such an extension. But it appears there is no good way to navigate over thousands of listings. Is there a way to find areas with better speeds vs poor speeds. Thanks Vitaly
  • (2021-08-22, v:2.1.1) Sigrun Eis: Cancelling subscription
Hello, I have used Roamer to find a one-time remoteworking situation, but as I hate to have many active subscriptions I wanted to cancel it again. It has served its purpose - but I cannot find any way to cancel my subscription before next month; there is no option on your page
  • (2021-05-03, v:1.10.1) Brandon Sides: Anything good in Mexico
Hello! I am a new "Believer" who just bought a lifetime subscription. I love your extension! I am a new digital nomad who needs "Great Internet," and I'm glad I found your tool before I booked more Airbnbs. I'd like to save money by working in Mexico, but most places I search come up with "Fair" at best. Are you able to see on your end if there is *anywhere* in Mexico with "Great"? I'd love to be able to view places that are only "Great." Thanks for any leads.
