Description from store Generates a unique password for every site from a single master password. Click the small gold ring icon in the URL bar when on a login page to open the dialog. Based on the extension from http://passwordmaker.org/. ********** Updates: 0.2.1: - The icon shows up all the time now (it's a browser action). - The keyboard shortcut is configurable (default Alt+Shift+Z) and works more reliably. - It opens as a popup instead of a new window. - The "Manual Password Verifier" has changed, and now takes your settings into account. 0.1.0.7: - Fixed a bug where it would fail to recognize password fields on pages containing a fieldset. - Added an optional "Manual Password Verifier" code. If enabled, it displays a 3 letter code based on the master password that will be unique for your password. You can use this to check that you typed your password correctly (assuming you remember your 3 letter code).

  • (2014-09-29) OMM DCOM: We've used it for many, many years. Fantastic. It's been installed on home and work computers and has never let us down.
  • (2014-01-01) Daniel Houck: This extension is in general quite useful, but if you use either the username field or the character set field, it will fail to take those settings into account. Thus, if you use either of these fields, it's easier to use the PasswordMaker website than this extension. Fortunately, the ability to manually verify shows that things are off and makes it easy to see if this doesn't work for you.
  • (2012-11-12) Adolfo Brandes: The best Chrome passwordmaker extension so far. Quirks: * The shortcut is not working after a recent Chrome update (22+). * The shortcut is not actually configurable through the user interface. You have to hack the extension itself.
  • (2012-10-09) Dave Noonan: Perfect, except for the hotkey. It claims you can change it but I don't see it on the options page. I also don't see instructions anywhere.
  • (2012-08-27) Saulo Brito: Very useful, thank you very much. I've hacked my installation to always show the ring icon so I can call it up anytime. Don't know if everybody would like this but surely it's useful sometimes. PS: For people interested in do the same: look up for the form-filter.js at the extension folder and change the findPasswordFields function to don't check if the page has a password or not.
  • (2012-04-11) It does what it says it does. One thing I'd like to see added is contextual mouse link(s). Also better explanations on the details page about the various options. I'm happy with it having moved from LastPass. Hopefully the features in this extension will be rolled into the browser proper going forward though. :-D
