We’re grateful for your feedback—we've listened and are moving the functionality of Tag Assistant Companion into the original Tag Assistant extension and are retiring this extension. The original Tag Assistant extension now supports features from both the original and companion extensions, including in-page debugging and advanced functionality on tagassistant.google.com.
Please install the Tag Assistant extension. If you have both the original and companion extensions installed, the companion extension will be automatically uninstalled in the coming months.

- (2024-12-18) Diaa Soliman: Google Tag Assistant is an important tool for marketers and non-specialists, such as website owners. However, it could provide clearer feedback during debugging. Currently, when consent is not provided (via a cookie banner), the tool usually states that "No tags found," even if tags are present but not firing due to consent requirements. This can mislead marketers and, even more so, non-specialists who might assume that tags are entirely missing or improperly implemented. While technical challenges like blocked script execution or privacy settings may limit detection, improving Tag Assistant to identify such cases in a better way would be invaluable. For instance, it could display: "Tags detected but not firing—possible reason(s): lack of consent OR .... OR .... ." This little improvement would save time and offer clarity, benefiting all users, regardless of their technical expertise.
- (2024-12-10) Justin Chan: I don't know why it exists. it doesn't work. useless!!!
- (2024-12-05) Antong Yin: spent an hour debugging wondering why my tag didn't work even though i installed everything correctly. Turns out that the tag assistant was buggy and the tags were actually working (*⌒∇⌒*)

- (2024-10-30) Studio Maria vem com as outras: maravvilhosooooo
- (2024-10-28) Simon Meister: Not working for all Websites (at least since the last website only shows the first view of a debugging container -> had to deactivate the whole extension since debugmode from tagmanager was no longer working if it is activated). We all miss the good old Tag Assistant which really delivered good quick info about the tracking setup. Now we only can launch the big gun and dive directly into the debugging process itself which is a pity. Google please fix this and stop deprecating good useful tools/features.
- (2024-10-25) Tom Anderson: Wow, the help documentation is really bad for Google Tags... For example, this plugin doesn't link to any help documentation. And the documentation that links here barely tells us how to use it.
- (2024-10-21) Jimmy Florent: If there was a 0 option I would give it to them. Complete rubbish and mess with my system. Google at its best!!!
- (2024-10-20) RohKudusku88: Nice my new blog detected on google search..
- (2024-10-15) Sindre: I nice upgrade from the now deprecated tag assistant legacy. Anyone familiar with the GTM preview mode will feel right at home.
- (2024-10-09) Chris Milsom: Works well
- (2024-10-08) Lorant Görgey: Since an update, there have been recurring issues. When I debug pages in GTM and the extension is installed, after reloading the page, a connection to Tag Assistant can no longer be established.
- (2024-09-14) majidi salah: ok
- (2024-09-09) Troy Woods: So Google have retired the Tag Assistant that worked perfectly well and replaced with a link to your Tag Manager account. Yet another useful tool ripped out of our hands. There won't be much left to analyse anything soon.
- (2024-08-27) Kalin Vasilev: There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old tag assistant extension which simply worked. This one is extremely glitchy, unreliable and undocumented.
- (2024-08-23) Jon Bert: woooow NICE STEP FOR EVOLUTION!!!
- (2024-08-21) Ankan Shahriar Islam: I've noticed that the "Tag Assistant cannot connect" and "Google Tag not found" issues often occur when there's a mismatch between the Chrome user account and the Google account used with Tag Assistant. After troubleshooting for about 4 hours, I found that logging into Chrome with the Google account associated with GTM resolved the issue. While it's not yet clear whether the root cause lies with Chrome or Tag Assistant, further investigation is needed to determine the underlying problem.
- (2024-08-20) Richard Ockerby: This is just a glorified bookmark, taking you to https://tagassistant.google.com/
- (2024-08-07) Sophie Nicole Casey: Haven't been able to connect to any client sites using Tag Assistant for about 2 weeks. Google refused to help me and told me to go find YouTube tutorials, as though I simply didn't understand how to use it. Finally, I disabled this extension and Tag Assistant is connecting again!! I've lost 10-20 hours troubleshooting and it was just this extension. I'm using MacBook Pro latest version and Chrome latest version. Chrome is also constantly crashing lately...
- (2024-07-29) WebTech Aldin: Update: The issue might be specific to Chrome on Windows, as the tool was able to detect the tag installation on Chrome on MacOS. When I tested it, the data layers were also fired up correctly. I will update the star rating when this issue is fixed. I hope this helps the developers and other users facing non-detection issues. Thanks. This doesn't work at all. I have tried installing Google Tags manually and using a plugin. When I view the site's source code, I can see the tag properly installed, but the tool doesn't detect it at all. I tried all the possible solutions provided in their documentation to no avail, and there's no easy way to contact support, just like with all other Google products.

- (2024-07-17) Rochelle Menezes: Helpful!
- (2024-07-11) Pure Source: Terrible
- (2024-07-09) Mohammed Saiful Islam: Excellent.
- (2024-07-07) Nowell Overby: It's complete trash just like every other Google product that is eternally in a BETA state. Every dollar spent with Google Ads should be refunded. We pay them boatloads of money and we have to do the work, while our business fails. I have been on numerous calls with our account rep and nothing ever improves. GA4 is a joke as well and everything broke as soon as we switched over last summer. Their support cannot fix anything. They just send endless worthless links full of more endless worthless links for us to spend 10 hours reading while they continue to collect money. Their whole company is a SCAM, especially CPC. Of course, large companies can afford to pay 3rd parties who spend their entire lives learning Google's unreliable system. Small businesses can't afford that, so we are just sucked dry while the larger retailers thrive.

- (2024-05-02) Ramesh Menon: Doesn't work
- (2024-05-01) Philip Schaffer: Only Google could come up with a pixel helper this convoluted and confusing to use
- (2024-04-29) Travis Wieser: Doesn't work.
- (2024-04-28) Brand New Bathrooms: Connecting intermittently and cannot find my Google Analytics tag. Absolute nightmare so far so I hope this is fixed soon.

- (2024-04-05) Erion Dervishi: Upon evaluating an AI tool for virtual assistance, its cost-effectiveness was lacking. Discovery of the ReplyPal extension AI, which offers complimentary access, marked a significant improvement in online browsing efficiency without financial burden.
- (2024-04-05) Irwan Japardi: Google keep changing for worst. Make it simple for the user please.
- (2024-04-04) santiago vazquez berrosteguieta: The new era of Google, everything that works well, they break it
- (2024-04-01) syahmi safri: Previous (old version) was much much better
- (2024-03-25) Glen: Not really intuitive at all. This plugin will take you to the Tag Manager website and you will need to have access to the container - All I want to know is if I have a working GA and GTM trackers in the website, why do you have to make it complicated? The Legacy is better than this!
- (2024-03-22) Hrh Ekens Azubuike: The extension is well understood and easy to install , i never know that it would very easy stop and very useful. I recommend that you try it.
- (2024-03-22) Sharkstuffs TryOurStyle: Previous (old version) was much much better, you can easily use it onsite, and check all events and tags what is on the website, and track them on every step. Now it's completely not user friendly and takes much more time, and not working as it should be... Nightmare... I'm wondering how the multi-billion company launching new product live, without taking customers reviews in consideration.
- (2024-03-04) Ilya Nicolaev: Legacy more convenient, more visually. This one takes some getting used to, but.....
- (2024-02-14) GrowthStudioz Access: Nice
