Canvas+ is a free Chrome Browser extension that improves the experience of students using Canvas. Everything you could need, from color themes, to navigation shortcuts, to improved performance.

The extension has an easy-to-use settings menu, and all of our features are toggle-able.

You have a full suite of appearance settings, including dark and dim mode, custom link colors, and custom sidebar colors and layouts.

Quick Inbox opens a popup on the left side of the page, allowing you to check previews of your emails without reloading the page and possibly losing what you were working on.

If enabled, the Speed Boost feature will preload links while you're idling, resulting in much faster loading speeds of 2x or 4x on struggling connections.

A feature to improve navigation is the search box. The search box can be enabled with Control+K (Command+K on Mac) or with a sidebar button and allows you to search all of your courses for pages and module items.

Rounder Modules does just as the name says, it makes canvas modules rounder.

If the "Smart Scrolling" setting is enabled, you'll see "Scroll to Bottom" and "Back to Top" buttons on pages, discussions, and modules/assignment lists.
This can greatly speed up navigating a course with hundreds of modules.

Alex D 2025-09-19: This is a cool chrome extension, my canvas looks cool and its pretty customizable. Everything works too.
Ka'tia Randall 2025-05-24: Quite buggy, the "done" button when it asks you to choose your look is white and so is the popup. Impossible to see unless you highlight everything. The search bar is buggy too. Does not work and doesn't look anything like the pictures.

Saul Evilman 2024-04-12: Doesn't work if your school's Canvas page doesn't have the word infrastructure in it's url. No way to add your school's own url to get it to work if it doesn't have the term infrastructure in it unfortunetly. Not sure if/when an update bringing this extensions to other schools will come.

Lea Cabaleiro 2023-10-08: Is not working. Don't know how to fix. Says "can't read or change site's data" which I'm assuming is not supposed to be the case because it's meant to change the site's data. How can I fix?

James Scheff 2022-09-28: Completely killed my battery life. I have the brand new Macbook Air M2 chip and It ran just fine until I downloaded this extension. My battery life went from about 11-12 hours to not even 3 hours where all I am doing is typing in a google doc. I know its this extension because I told my computer to kill the Crome tab that had the most energy impact, and every time it was Canvis. This was not an issue for anyone else in my class. For reference a normal tab's energy impact is between 0- 12 and the canvas tab with this extension is 400. I tried removing the tab and it was still drawing this amount of power. I have tried everything it has messed up my google account.

Kevin Wang 2022-09-11: With the extension, Canvas would overheat my M1 Mac and severely decrease its battery life. After disabling the extension, the battery life of my mac returned to normal and wasn't nearly as hot. Love the features, but severely limits my mac.

Studio Hawaii 2022-05-18: This extension is very good. It has so much customization like you can edit the sidebar etc. I would like it if you added customization for the background though.

Benjamin Walther 2022-02-24: I have to use canvas for a lot of school stuff. This extension is really easy to use, and makes canvas just look and feel a lot smoother. Not sure why, but it is also the only one that our school hasn't blocked on the school chromebooks, sooo extra points because I can use it on every device!
