Auto Resume Downloads
Description from store

(⚠️ In some cases, Auto Resume Downloads are disabled by the Chrome browser API spec. Sorry, but in that case, please toggle the extension's switch off and on to resume your downloads.)

It is an open source Chrome extension that can automatically resume downloads that have been stopped for unintended reasons.

The full source code of the program is publicly available on GitHub, and anyone can contribute if there is a bug or improvement.

If you leave the switch on, it will automatically resume downloading paused in the background.

You can manually set the time interval to trigger the resume and also check the program usage log.

Usage.
1. Tap the icon to open the window.
2. Turn on the switch to run the program.
The program will resume automatically stopped downloads in the background
(⚠️If the program does not work properly, click the toggle button a few times and try again)
3. Checking "Apply to paused items" setting will automatically resume the download that you paused.
4. "Check time interval" sets the time interval for scanning stopped downloads.
5. Settings take effect when the apply button is pressed.
6. All events are recorded and visible on the log tab.

Read some bad reviews so nearly didn't try but pleased I did. Not sure what others are doing but works well here. Thanks.

Doesn't work. Says to disable/re-enable but that's a constant thing to have to do. It never works when I actually need it to. Nothing auto about it.
Фил Шпак
It works. But you need press "apply" and/or turn it off and turn on again on every new start of chrome.

Doesn't do the one thing it's supposed to.

Doesn't actually resume downloads.

Don't know what kind of PICNIC users are writing these reviews, but this extension worked fantastically for me! I was trying to download the 6 GB Ubuntu ISO, and the download was crapping out every 30 seconds up to about 12% download. So, I installed this extension and it downloaded the rest without a single interruption. Thanks, dev, you saved me a massive headache! NB: For what its worth, I kept the active downloads tab open, and on screen.

Will give more stars if you give me the ability to tell it to keep trying infinitely to resume the download if it fails. Also, this doesn't work unless you activate "apply to paused items" even if the download just fails. Which kind of sucks because sometimes I want to pause downloads but I'll have to deactivate this in order to do that.

This may be the best a plugin can do in Chrome. I think Chrome is shutting down extension processes that keep triggering. I find it works best if I have the chrome://downloads tab open. Turn ARD of and on again occasionally to refresh it. It will run for a while, then you have to turn it off/on again and restart the downloads you want. I would love it if it just always worked, but even still, it's a huge time-saver verses restarting a bunch of downloads manually and babysitting them. So I need to occasionally refresh something that is doing most of the work. It's fine

I was just about to say it's working and it stopped working.

worked just fine for me, you can test if it works by enabling "apply to paused items", hitting apply, then pausing your item to see if it unpauses your download within the interval
ReviewTechAfrica
dude, why does it stop downloading? it helps resume 4 times and then it gives up, so annoying! Can anyone help, what is going on here 3 stars until I get a fix

stable work in google chrome. Idk why so low rating
Mythical 5th
To resume downloads automatically, an extension would have to register a listener for status changes: chrome.downloads.onChanged.addListener(). This extension does not do that, it resumes downloads when the buttons in the popup are pressed.

Absolute Nothing Happens. Even after On/Off/On - Nothing.
David Becket
It only works sometimes.
Owen Ganson
(On Opera) Works sometimes, but only for downloads visible in the miniature Downloads viewer (not the full tab version that shows all queued downloads), and sometimes not even that many. Also, often refuses to apply settings.
Balvant Singh Kushwah
Work good and easy managed for making resume
Paizal Pahmi

Doesn't work. EDIT: I recommend Free Download Manager as a potential replacement.

If it ever worked, now it doesn't anymore

Works on Chrome as expected.

Love this! Thank you for the tool. Being used in a thorium browser on a windows 11 machine.
Josh Rodgers
worked once but hasn't since. More trouble than its worth for me.
Dante Perez Traverso
Works flawlessly on Opera GX. Thanks for making this wonderful extension.
FancyFalcon
Works well but stops randomly for some reason and then you have to come and resume it again.
Luke Keppler
Thank you for providing basic browser functionality. I can't believe vanilla Chrome doesn't auto-resume. Works flawlessly. Because the extension is only needed 0.001% of the time, I may keep it disabled until using it, in case resource-usage isn't as low as it could be.

This wasn't working for me. I made sure it was switched on as I'd noted this was mentioned in other reviews. However, it was only after 'pinning' the extension that I could access a second settings screen from the 'pin'. This screen shows the options referred to in the Overview above. I switched it on here as well, pressed 'apply' and now it works. To be honest it was really just chance that I found this out, mentioning it in the Overview would be good.

work
Patrick Martin
It never worked.
Chris Dale
It only works some times. I think as mentioned before. If failed several times, it gives up. Giving one star because the Dev clearly doesn't care.
Brendan Hinds
As mentioned by 'Liming Yuan', it does resume failed downloads, but only 4-5 times before giving up. I have to keep going back to resume the download after it has done it a small number of times.
Kuckoo “BigNose”
This extension works fine. After installing simply pin it to your browser bar and restart Chrome. Then click on the Auto Restart icon, turn it on, and click [Apply].
Liming Yuan
it will resume for 5 times then pause again. I have to keep on resume after 5 retry while down load 5G of file. Any way to increase the attempts to a higer value?
Derrick brock
works as intended. Must press the extension and turn it on first
norio norio
Not worked. Not resumes after internet connection interruption.
Hypeman
Great extenstion, works as intended. As another reviewer said, don't listen to the people saying it's useless or not working.
K R (Edohc)
Don't listen to the goofballs saying it's useless. They forgot to open the extension, select their settings and hit apply.
David in Thailand
Absolutely useless. Does nothing at all.
