  • (2023-10-12) Mac Cole (Maczerker): Has so many of the features Ive needed as a DM that every other "simple" browser VTT doesnt, easy to setup and use without having to know how to script at all.
  • (2023-09-22) Aubrey Frio: I did my first ever session as a DM with people who haven't played D&D before. It was incredibly simple to get started and the ability to do encounters was absolutely brilliant!
  • (2023-09-15) Desiree: This was so simple and quick to use. Lot of free maps and the fact that it works so well with d&dbeyond, it so wonderful. I can create and encounter in dnd beyond and it imports all the monsters to the screen. So amazing!
  • (2023-09-14) Nino Sidari: Wow!!! This is amazing! Not only does it work great, but they are super active on discord to answer questions.
  • (2023-07-16) William: I hosted my first remote session with AboveVTT on Friday after moving 10 hours away from my group in June. We are mid-campaign so I was nervous about the remote move. I was also sad because I really enjoyed hand-drawing maps and having painted figures. All my fears are now gone. AboveVTT exceeded all expectations and my players enjoyed the session greatly. I had no bugs as described in previous reviews and the integration with D&D Beyond was flawless. 10/10 would recommend.
  • (2023-06-20) Michael Voltz: Best VTT I have ever used and love the support and updates it continually gets. Recommend supporting them so they can make more advancements!
  • (2023-06-10) Sterling Reeves: this thing is amazing, best thing to use and way better then any other VTT
  • (2023-06-01) bonkerstheclown mcpickle: Above VTT is functionally average. The issue with it is that the dice are completely broken. I'm pretty sure I've rolled more 2's on a D20 to hit roll than all other numbers combined. Just before this, to prove my point, started rolling and just kept rerolling until I got a result that was 11+. That took 7 rolls. So I keep rolling. Now I'm seeing how long until I get a 19 or a 20. The answer is 37 rolls. So it takes 37 times to get a result that is 1 in 10. Okay fine, so how about getting that magical 1 in 20 roll of 20?? That took 57 tries. How many 1's and 2's along the way? LOTS OF THEM. Consistently rolling this bad suck all the joy out of playing D&D. And it's not like this was just me saying, "Gee I wonder how fair the VTT/Beyond Dice are??" I came into this review KNOWING it was broken after being forced to play on this hell-spawned extension for months and months. I knew exactly what my little test run would look like. Six 1's. Ten 2's. One 19. One 20. It's the fact that it's so consistent that's infuriating. As a sometime GM I will never ever ever subject my players to this hell. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY FIX YOUR DAMN DICE ROLLER!!!
  • (2023-05-10) Åsmund Gravem: The best way to get the most out of D&D beyond. It keeps improving and over delivering on what they initially set out to do. If you have bugs, report them and they most likely will be fixed until next session. Do consider to support the project on patreon.
  • (2023-05-07) Brandon Mojzis: Such an amazing tool! This has helped me so much with my hybrid DnD campaign and has saved me a lot of time!
  • (2023-04-29) Skidder Live gaming: absolutely amazing and game breaking innovation changed my dm'ing ways!
  • (2023-04-02) Bri Black: this vtt works well most of the time, but an option it is severely lacking is a universal "toggle vision/light" on and off for all tokens. the feature is difficult on devices and can cause lag, and it's a lot of work to do it for each token. otherwise, it's a nice clean vtt! just wish there were more user friendly options
  • (2023-03-09) Beth Watson: This extension was amazing until a few weeks ago. When they introduced the cursor options (to toggle on/off showing your cursor moving to other players) things seemed to start breaking. It has now become certain that at least one of the players (usually two but no more than that) will be unable to move their own tokens. When the player clicks on the token to move it, the token automatically moves to the northwest. The players will be able to move other tokens, just not their own. The dice rolls from D&D Beyond no longer update to AboveVTT without hitting the browser refresh button, but occasionally when you refresh your browser all you get back is a black screen. There have also been several other minor issues that have appeared in the past few weeks. A month ago, this program was awesome! I DM 3 -4 games a week and this extension has made it so easy to create fun adventures quickly and easily. Please roll it back! I don't want to have to switch to something else.
  • (2023-03-09) Dan Sandifer: This add-on is great but it seem like a recent update started causing a few issues. Youtube backgrounds often come up dark that worked before. characters suddenly fly off screen when clicked. Gamelog isn't updated as reliably as a few weeks ago. Not sure what happened BUT still better than most of the others out there and direct integration with dndbeyond is amazing.
  • (2023-02-14) Chris Hale (Retr0type): I've been using Owlbear Rodeo for a little over a year and dabbled with Foundry VTT. I found Foundry to be a bit clunky and a pain to import my D&DBeyond content into. Owlbear hits the sweet spot for basic map and token management. AboveVTT does everything Owlbear does, but with the added bonus of utilizing my D&DBeyond content. Hands down, this extension is amazing.
  • (2023-02-12) Cadbur: Absoloutely love AboveVTT, I unironically mean it when I say it completely changed how our group plays D&D online. Extremely easy to use with a surprising amount of features for something not even in v1.0 yet, and works far better than alternatives out there. I look forward to the future of AboveVTT, and wish everybody on the team the best of luck adding new features!
  • (2023-01-14) Weasel Wargaming: Absolutely love it! We use it both for online and as a supplement for local sessions!
  • (2023-01-12) Cody Delatorre: one of the easiest ones to use, I understand the direction but I still wish it saved outside of the browser cache. Id gladly pay a small fee for that feature
  • (2023-01-06) Marcel van Broekhoven: super easy to use and totally free.
  • (2022-12-27) Shawn Andrews: left Forge (foundry vtt) as soon as i tried this. not all the bells and whistles, yet. SO easy and intuitive.
  • (2022-10-24) Willem Grant: Probably one of the best VTTs to use if you use DND Beyond. Even easier to set up than an extension like Beyond20! (which is still great by the way)
  • (2022-10-13) Kegan Moon: Absolutely impressive tool. Wild that all of this is packed into a browser extension, and looks like it runs better than roll20. I won't make the switch from foundry because my party is so engrained into the system already, but could easily make the switch if it more easily integrated a sourcebook to pull in the appopriate maps/encounters/chapters from whatever adventures you owned. I suspect this is more of a limit based on dndbeyond since they don't tie sourcebooks to campaigns. Wildly impressive and I'll be keeping my eye on this for sure.
  • (2022-10-03) Luke Preston: I have tried Roll20, Owlbear (old and new), and used Foundry for 2 years. This is easily better than all of them.
  • (2022-08-28) Casey Brown: My wife and I tried it out while trying to find a new VTT. This extension is seamless, easy to use, integrates super well, amazing features that help with your spells and abilities. if you use DnDBeyond, you need to have this VTT!
  • (2022-08-21) Lorenzo Bachman: im a newer player to dnd and this made it so much easier to play
  • (2022-08-18) Tony: I'm 50 years old and I just got into D&D. I wanted an easy to use, easy to learn program to share game maps, etc. This is awesome. It's a simple Chrome Extension! I already subscribe to D&D Beyond and this makes it stupidly easy to run a game. My players can use their phone in conjunction with their PC, using their computer to see the battle maps, and using their phones to roll dice! It even has video conferencing built in! I can make maps offline, store them in my google drive, share the links (unrestricted) and create new scenes. If you use this plugin and are enjoying it, I highly encourage you to donate to the AboveVTT team through Patreon as I do. If an old dude like me with ZERO RPG experience can do this, so can you. 5 Stars.
  • (2022-08-03) Daniel Hodge: One of the BEST VTT's I've seen, hands down.
  • (2022-07-23) Justin Drury (Fluid1C3): I'm a first time DM with first time players. The integration and ease of use have made it easy to get started. My players and I are loving this VTT.
  • (2022-07-10) Father Magnus: I've tried Roll 20, I’ve tried Foundry, I've tried Owlbear Rodeo, this was the first VTT that actually felt like it was a finished product. It's functional, no nonsense, and so so smooth. The DNDbeyond integration is a masterpiece and makes it super easy for both my players and I to handle the mechanical aspects of D&D that can often slow down online play. I can’t rave about this extension enough
  • (2022-07-04) Lexi Burns: The most easy way to play DND hands down. Makes it so easy, love it!
  • (2022-06-21) Shay 88: Excellent resource for creating maps and playing with other characters. As a first time DM I'm thoroughly impresses with the abilities of this VTT and my friends love it as well!!!
  • (2022-06-19) Nícolas César: A must have if playing with dndbeyond.
  • (2022-06-19) lucas batory: Simply THE best DND beyond extension, simple, efficient, constantly updated. My only wish is for it to buy bought by WotC, that would be the intelligent thing to do for them, such a nice job done and presented on a silver plate, you just can't say no.
  • (2022-06-10) Paul: Above VTT is everything Roll20 wishes it could be. It's simple, easy to use, and takes the bare minimum to setup. A boon to DM's and players everywhere!
  • (2022-03-19) S Vonderweidt: Fantastic! With nearly flawless integration from DnD beyond source material. Easy to use and it's free! DnD beyond should buy it and develop it more!
  • (2022-03-03) Christopher Brum: Best VTT I've used. Makes using dndbeyond even more of an asset! Best blend of features and simplicity.
  • (2022-02-22) Tom: Using it for my campaign now, love the youtube maps. Only product I have ever patroned voluntarily. ever.
  • (2022-02-22) Puppets in the Window: Thank you so very much for making exactly what I needed! I have been running FGU and Roll20 as both DM and player, and every time I would want to integrate all the cool new DnD Beyond content, I would have to code until my eyes bleed. I use Chrome AboveVTT and most of the controls are very intuitive, very user friendly. I have two sparkly new players to DnD and I have always sent people to DnD Beyond to create characters, since it is also very intuitive and explains it all. After a 5 minute tutorial I was ready to start my campaign. I plan to test out the voice integration this week.
  • (2022-02-20) Kresto Kidd: Exactly what I needed to run my games! 5/5!!!!
  • (2022-02-15) nathan maher: As an inexperienced DM running a campaign on-line, AboveVTT has been a saviour. Completely free for all players and simple to set up, it has no barriers to entry. My players still like pen and paper, so we mainly just use it for maps and tokens, but it has a whole lot more already and it's still in it's early stages of development. Brilliant.
  • (2022-02-11) Steven Van Eckeren: AboveVTT outperforms any VTT I've tried before. It's intuitive to the point where I don't even have to explain any features, they just come naturally to my players. As a DM this tool is incredible also. While some features are still in development, the basics and essentials work near flawlessly. I can only see this extension getting better and better, already being better than any free or paid solution I've tried. Keep up the great work!
  • (2022-02-07) Matt Courtemanche: Simple and it works! 100% integration with DnDBeyond purchases and characters. No hosting configurations to figure out. My only feature request would be a way to sync content across different computers. I made up a bunch of maps for my campaign on my desktop, and went to go run the game from my laptop and they aren't synced with my chrome account. I might be able to copy some files, but I can't find any instructions on this. If anyone knows, please reply and this could be a 5 start from me.
  • (2022-02-04) santiago echenique: Great extention imma play it in my tv setup
  • (2022-01-29) Mike: This VTT does everything I need it to do, which is an easy to use battle map with some helpful cool features. I don't need line of sight or full campaign tracking. I highly recommend using this.
  • (2022-01-29) Rick Anderson: Fantastic - I've been using VTT's since the genre was born. I wanted to use something which had greater integration to dndbeyond where my content was without having to re-purchase. Above VTT blew me away with its deep integration and capabilities. Ran our first session tonight and it was super smooth. My players adopted immediately and we were quickly off and running. Wow!
  • (2022-01-21) JonnyVicent: It's everything I've ever wanted. It's very easy to learn, get's the job done, and I can use all my content from dndbeyond with it, without paying for it a second time.
  • (2022-01-12) jacob schmieg: Honestly amazing. With the amount of hard work put into this extension they could easily be charging prices close to the "main stream" competitors. The fact they can do what DNDBeyond is incapable of despite the massive revenue difference, this IS FREE, dumbfounds me. These creators deserve all the credit in the world, well done!
  • (2022-01-03) Ben: A friend showed me this for the first time, and I was amazed. Is so user friendly that almost everyone can immediately work with it and the best thing is, I can access all my content from D&D Beyond for free. In Roll20 I need to buy all the modules, and that’s like twice the cost. It´s really easy to create a map or an encounter on the fly (if you have the content in D&D Beyond). Then a combat tracker with auto initiative rolling, just delicious. I used it just for like two sessions, but I like what I see. I can’t wait to see what the team is developing next.
  • (2021-12-28) Luc Charette: Basic needs, basic fonctionnallity, all you need of a VTT and all the simplicity of it too. its not even finished and yet its already much better then anything else on the market. sorry but i don't need full blown addons management like foundry, sorry i dont need convoluted fonctions i'll never use like Roll20. Owlbear rodeo was great but was missing important features.... this is it, this Owlbear.rodeo but better ! hats off, continue the good work !
  • (2021-12-25) Cinghiale Frollo: I cannot even start to tell you how awesome this is. If you use D&DBeyond then there is absolutely no reason why you should not get this FREE browser extension.
