Description from extension meta

Extends Google Chat Threads with extra features

Image from store Thread Master
Description from store Thread master allows naming & renaming individual threads in google chat. The names are shared among all participants of the threaded room and changing a name should be visible to all those who also use this add-on. Additionally, displays links to all loaded threads in said room on the right side with a separate scroll bar to scroll through a large list of threads in selected room. Clicking on any of them will scroll to said thread. UPDATE: Added support for new google chat displayed through mail.google.com UPDATE 2: Added support for both chat.google.com and chat displayed through mail.google.com/chat UPDATE 3: Fixed compatibility with Chrome v92 (i.e. https://chromestatus.com/feature/5148698084376576 ) which didn't allow users to change thread names. UPDATE 4: Added support for dark mode UPDATE 5: fix for new google chat layout UPDATE 6: Added basic support for in-line threads.

  • (2023-03-24) Son Vuong Vu Nam: Dude, your extension was such a game changer on feature that Google missed. Now that they update Google Chat with new thread management approach, yours becomes bugged. Hope you will maintain this extension. The collapse/expand feature may be not needed anymore but please keep the Thread Title editor feature alive with the new update. Love!
  • (2022-11-29) Excelente extensión. Me gusta poder tener un poco más de orden en los chats. Gracias

  • (2023-08-22, v:0.2.0) Patrick Weston: Ability to Unpin a Thread from the Thread List
I thought the 'Hide a Thread' feature would both hide the thread and also remove it from the thread list, but it doesn't remove it from the list. Once a log out and back in to Chat, the thread is visible again in the listing. It would be great to be able to unpin a thread from the list. Then only the threads you really want to pin are shown on the list. This will help also for applying the extension retrospectively to Chat spaces where there are lots of old/redundant threads that you don't want to see in the list. Thanks
  • (2023-02-07, v:0.1.7) 大幸将之: List doesn't appear.
The list suddenly stopped showing up. It was working normally until yesterday. I re-installed the function, but it's still the same. Is there any way to deal with this?
  • (2021-12-07, v:0.1.4) Gesly George: Does not work with new chat in Gmail
This does not seem to work with the new Chat in Gmail feature. None of the features of the extension shows up.
  • (2021-12-01, v:0.1.4) Add some basic colour backgrounds to chats.
Please add a 3px wide left aligned colour bar which matches the colour of the groups on the right. It would REALLY help to make sure I'm on the right chat. Thanks in advance! (you could even let people choose the colours (or add a toggle to switch to colourblind/safe pallets). Keep up the good work!
  • (2021-10-02, v:0.1.4) Neil Greenleaves: Nothing appearing - maybe due to multiple Google accounts?
This used to work for the same setup, but now it is not showing thread names at all, nor listing them. I have this issue on one PC that has several Google accounts, and the one I want to use is not the primary. On another PC where the account I need is primary, it is working. Perhaps an issue with which Google account is primary or multiple Google accounts?
  • (2021-09-24, v:0.1.4) Neil Greenleaves: not showing thread names at all, nor listing - used to work
Maybe Chrome or Google broke it? I'm not seeing anything changing now on the chat interface (at mail.google.com/chat/...) I'm running Chrome 94.0.4606.61 (Official Build) (64-bit) The extension is 0.1.4 In manage extensions I note it shows: Automatically allow access on the following sites https://chat.google.com/* but it doesn't list mail.google.com... Is that important? I'm really missing being able to name my threads. All google is showing is the date :-( This is for a room/space where this used to work. Many thanks for such a great tool. Hopefully you can help!
  • (2021-08-03, v:0.1.0) Manuel Babuglia: Use first line of first message as default thread name
In our company we have the convetion of using the first message of each thread as the tread title, typing it in caps lock and formatting it in bold. It would be great if this pluging could take the first line as the default thread name, as the default title of the unique thread id is meaningless to the user.
  • (2021-05-09, v:0.0.6) Iessa Pragg: Only works in the mail interface
The extension only appears to function when used via the mail interface, using chat.google.com has no thread names etc present. Possible regression based on the update notes in the Overview.
  • (2021-04-26, v:0.0.4) Outi Aaltonen: Search by thread name
In my experience, when using the Chat's search feature, it doesn't include these thread names in its search range. Could this be improved? In my opinion, the thread names should be high in priority when using search.
  • (2021-03-20, v:0.0.4) Ashu Anand: Regarding a feature
Can you please a feature to auto load all threads saved on a particular group and remains available without being loaded the whole page and scrolling back.
