Simply browse your favorite electronic component distributor website as you normally would. We’ll notify you when symbols, footprints and 3D models for the part you’re looking at are available, so you can download and place the part in your CAD tool instantly.

- (2021-12-27) Zoltán Marcsek: It's great but as there is no Linux support for the app, I cannot use it at all. It would be nice if the app supported Linux, or the extension supported raw zip downloads.

Just have the desktop app open, go to a part page, click the extension and verify the design, click download, and refresh the library (or restart KiCAD). While I do wish I didnt have to restart KiCAD, this is a KiCAD specific thing, and it is still easier than what i'm used to. I do wish that I didnt have to click the extension, as I hide them in chrome. Instead, a button could maybe be embedded in the webpage itself (hard to do), or the little popup that comes up telling me that the part is available could have a button in it (could be easier)

They also offer 3D files to evaluate sizing, which is very helpful to design enclosures correctly. I have used it to assess the cost/benefit ratio of my projects, as I can compare prices from distributors and get the best ROI for my BOM. I highly recommend it!
