Automatically group tabs based on URL matches
Tab grouper is a chrome extension that allows you to automatically group all
tabs that match a given URL pattern. You create rules for each website saying
which URL pattern to match, the name of the tab group, and optionally a color,
and the extension will add matching websites to the appropriate tab groups as
you browse to them. For example, you could have all jira tickets in a single
group, all amazon pages in another, and all google search results in another.

Questions/Answers:
Q: Why do you need the "Can read your browsing history" (or "tabs") permission?
A: As you browse, the extension reads the addresses of the sites you, matching them against the rules you write, automatically grouping tabs based on those rules. The extension does not store nor transmit your browsing history anywhere.
Q: Why do you need the "View and manage your tab groups" permission?
A: The purpose of this extension is to automatically manage your tab groups for you, and so this permission is needed for the extension to work.

- (2021-03-20) Michael: This is exactly what I've been looking for! Automatic grouping of tabs which is customizable. I really like the application of AdGuard rules which makes the grouping very powerful. The extension isn't perfect yet but it still deserves 5 stars since it's the first release and I haven't found any other comparable extensions. A few suggestions. (1) Only create a new group if there are at least N matching tabs. It's fairly pointless to create a new group with just a single tab. (2) A button or menu option to manually group tabs. Maybe there's a bug or two to fix but tabs don't always get moved into groups automatically. (3) Following the second suggestion, an option to disable automatic grouping of tabs. There may be times I want to temporarily disable automatic grouping and some users may want to turn it off permanently, preferring to trigger the operation manually.
