Sort your bookmarks automatically by selecting a sorting rule for each folder.
With this extension, you will no longer need to manually sort your bookmarks every time after you add a new item or modify an existing one.
Start by choosing a bookmark folder and how you want it sorted (by name, by url, by date, etc). This extension will then start tracking those folders for any change made, and whenever you add or modify a bookmark within them, their contents will be automatically sorted according to the rule you created.
Features:
- Sort your folders automatically whenever they are changed
- Or sort the folder only once, without tracking for further changes
- Sort by Title, URL, Date or even randomly
- Inverted order (Z to A) is also possible
- Sort subfolders automatically with Recursive Sorting
- Choose whether you want subfolders sorted normally or left at the top/bottom
- Enable manual sorting when you reorder bookmarks within the folder
Changelog:
v1.4.0:
- Added sorting method: Unsorted. Use it to sort your bookmarks while keeping your folders sorted manually, or vice-versa
- Added "Skip Base Folder" option to Recursive Sorting to only sort subfolders
v1.3.0:
- Remember last used sorting options
v1.2.0:
- Updated to ManifestV3
v1.1.0:
- Added Recursive Sorting to also automatically sort subfolders.
- Improved sorting performance when only moving one bookmark.

- It's a really fantastic way to sort folders. Very flexible, very easy to use. There's one major problem that's stopping me from giving it a 5-star rating, and paying for it (I would donate if no paid option) and that is that it sometime loses settings and there's no way to export or import them. Given that I have sometimes 20 or more sort rules, this is very painful. If a developer could add an export and import button that would be fantastic, and I'd be happy to pay for it. Or just advise which configuration file can be manually backed up if that's possible .. like most chrome ext probably encrypted in a SQLite file.

- Does a single job I often need, better than anything else I've found: putting my obscenely-long list of bookmarks into reverse order - newest at the top; oldest at the end. I sort with it after every one or two saved bookmarks. Grab it first, and only then can you thank me by adding me to your will for a cut of your estate (unless your mired in poverty; then, never mind!).

- Bookmark sorting in Chrome/Edge has always annoyed me to no end. Having to manually sort each folder is such an annoyance that I gave up on doing so. This extension solves that problem for me exactly how it should work by default. Great work building this extension!

- Very good control, option to sort only one sub folder, even control over recursive

- It take too long to Auto-sort. At the end, I have to do it manually. Even selecting a given folder, it sort ALL my bookmarks, even my favorite toolbar, moving all my favorites around.

- Given I store my bookmarks by alphabetical nest heirachy's in manageable lists this extension allows me to add a folder without having to go back to the parent folder and sorting to get the folder in the right order. I'm really glad I found this extension

- I gave it some folders to sort, which worked when the browser was opened. But when I restarted my pc and turned on Brave, all the folders I set for sorting has reverted back to it's previous form (newest bookmarks goes straight to the bottom). I clicked on the extension, & there was no folder there. Meaning, I have to add those folders in the extension again! Note: I'm using "XbrowserSync". It synced fine the first time when I sorted the bookmarks, but after the restart it reverted back.

- Really nice and clean. Easy to use and does what other bookmark extensions don't.

- works all right
- Mark Anderson
- Extremely helpful and appears to work well. Thanks for sharing.

- Works perfectly. I miss an option to avoid sort "first level" bookmarks so that you can, for example, sort all the folders in the bookmark bar preserving the bar manual sort and avoiding to have to add every single folder in the bar to the sort list and add any new folder every time it's created. This way you can have the bookmark bar organized as you desire and all the folders sorted automatically.

- ewkay, let's try it.

- Highly recommended. Thank you, Hanabi. I set it to sort all my folders (Don's Bookmarks) automatically and left my wife's (Robyn's Bookmarks) to be sorted manually (Robyn likes to manually sort her bookmarks with the "most used or useful at the top". The only initial "whoops" was that the Bookmarks Bar was immediately sorted alphabetically (with all the spacer bars at the top) upon installation (due to no exclusions or rules, by default), but that was easily corrected with the addition of a folder rule: "Auto-sort won't trigger after manually reordering bookmarks" for the Bookmarks Bar Folder and setting it to: "On". I suggest that the Developer add this line to the installation.

- not working even the bookmark list is added, it won't trigger sorting when adding a new bookmark

- Does what no one else does
- Paul Verschoor
- Does what it says, nothing more. It sorts on alphabetical order. And you can tell to set the folders first. Great.

- Really good. Only wish there was an option that it gave me in the rules where I can auto sort links A-Z and put subfolders on top but not sort the subfolders, leave them as is. I have a manual sort I prefer them to be in that isn't A-Z Alphabetical nor A-Z.

- This is great. Very flexible. Only one I found that can sort by folder.
- Jaume Vidal Buenafuente
- I never thought of looking for an extension to do the sorting, I've being doing this manually for years... this works great and the fact that it let me apply different sorts to different folders and the recursive option, it's just exactly what I needed. So far I had no problems setting it up or running it.

- This is what I wanted, an extension that manipulated my chrome bookmarks -- NOT a completely separate bookmark manager. It's always been insane that Google never added this feature to this day, but anyway thankful for extensions like this.

- Maybe I'm doing something wrong. It used to work well, but now it won't sort the folders and subfolders in my Bookmarks bar.
- Kári Harðarson
- Works perfectly! Just pick a bookmark folder and choose how it will be sorted, by date, name or url. Simple and perfectly executed.

- Dale Towert
- Works brilliantly. With Chrome discontinuing a whole lot of extensions I was looking for a new bookmark sorter. Booksorter is even better than my old one. Love that it "just works". No more manual clicking to sort.

- I was looking for some way to sort my bookmarks by URL so all bookmarks from the same site stay together. This extension did exactly that. Swift as lightning too! Awesome!
- M P
- Fabulous app! Sorts fast and by various functions that are truly helpful: subfolders on top, don't automatically sort i.e., allow manual sorting following a sort, etc. I couldn't be happier!
- kawa saky
- I wanted to ask for a request if possible, when you order by URL, should be an option to cut it on the domain, not use the whole URL ink.com/ZZ -> "AAA" as title of the bookmark link.com/AA -> "ZZZ" as title of the bookmark ordering by link, will put /ZZ first, but when you browse the bookmarks, the bookmark titled ZZZ will appear before AAA would be great to be able to order by domain, and then inside that order, alphabetically, cutting the rest of the URL just after the domain

- Just what I've been looking for! Superb extension! Thank You!
- Christophe Pele
- I use it to sort my 'other bookmarks' folder which contains hundreds of items I want neatly organized. But I keep my Bookmarks Bar manually sorted. It works well, also sorting can be configured to be useful with options regarding folders and leaf items.

- I am blown away by this extension. Everything works perfectly. You can sort by date or alphabet. This is the solution for Google's messed up bookmark sorting system. A big thanks to the developer.

- I recently messed up the order of my bookmarks when I synced my chrome to a new laptop. I wanted to sort it from newest bookmarks to oldest and this app did the job perfectly. This extension sorts by date and my alphabet. It's easy to use.
