Description from store
Tab Group Manager
* Tab Group Manager
Tips

- (2024-11-11) James Tome: I've seen a few of the bugs that others have mentioned in the past, but not recently so perhaps they've been resolved. I like the new button in Bookmarks bar and the ability to pin groups there. I organize tab groups by color; that is a great visual aid for me. What I find is missing for me is a way to sort groups in the list provided under the Bookmarks bar button. What's come to mind for me is the ability to sort alphabetically by name or chronologically by date created or by date modified. I believe all of that is available in chrome's storage of bookmarks. It could also be interesting to sort by color. Happy to describe this further if you have interest in pursuing this, Eiji.
- (2024-10-08) David Bookbinder: The idea is terrific, but periodically, for reasons I can't explain, it creates duplicate groups of bookmarks, sometimes identical, sometimes not; sometimes with the same folder names, sometimes with numbers as names.

- (2024-05-12) Josh Viar: Fantastic extension. Provides a simple solution to storing, retrieving, and syncing tab groups. I love that it's based on bookmarks, so as long as my bookmarks are synced, I can even switch browsers and still have all of my tab groups ready to go.
- (2024-04-06) Faruk Celik: Great extension. I have tried many different extensions with tab group support and decided to go with Tab Group Manager. A quick ask : It would be great if you can add a small feature in extension's UI allowing users to toggle showing the groups a s collapsed or expanded . By default it shows all the tabs in all groups as expanded. I have lots of tab groups :)
- (2024-01-20) xomi: wow I like this extension alot. the only feedback i'd give is to have it where you click on the group and the tabs appear that way. edit: i take my feedback back! all i had to do was click the group name for it to go away. this extension is going to be a game changer. thank you so much!
- (2024-01-13) Yoel: After Edge decided to downgrade their 'Collections' feature and remove its relationship with 'Groups', I searched for an alternative and found this extension, which actually has a better concept. - When you create Groups with tabs, they are automatically saved as folders under a parent folder named 'Tab Group Folder'. Any tab added or removed, as well as any change in the tabs order, is automatically synced with that favorite folder. - Closing the group does not remove the folder. To remove it, you need to open the extension's flyout menu and click on the trash icon. When a group is opened, the flyout allows you to close the group (x) and to remove tabs (x). - You can also add, remove or sort, both tabs in groups and the groups themself, from within the favorite folder, as long as these groups are not opened in the browser. Two improvements could make things perfect: 1. Primarily, supporting the favorite folder hierarchy in a way that allows group folders to have parent folder. Currently there is one level of groups, and the only way to organize them is to add a prefix to group names and sort by this prefix. 2. Including new options in the flyout menu: to add the selected tab to a group and to sort tabs and groups by dragging them. This will enable users to perform all actions from within the application's flyout.
- (2024-01-01) Bond Sun: Great job! please allow an option to not auto-save if the group name is not given explicitely. Thanks.
- (2023-12-16) Aaron Myles Landwehr (snaphat): I like it, but it's not reliable in in a specific case: creating a new tab group with the same name as an existing bookmark folder when you don't currently have an existing tab group with the same group name with all of bookmarked links open. If you do this, it will delete all of the existing bookmarks when you add a new tab to the group. I'd 4 star if this were fixed and 5 star if it remembered colors for group tabs when restoring from the icon.

- (2023-11-27) Attila Markus: Hi Eiji, you are making my life so much easier already and I really appreciate that, and I can see I am not by far alone with that. One thing I haven't yet figured out is cross-device backup and sync. I can see you've covered the subject in your answer "3. Because tab groups are saved as bookmarks, they are backed up and sync'ed across devices as long as you are signed in to Chrome." I am not that computer savvy so I am not sure if this covers what I need and I just haven't been able to make it work for me, or... I have a laptop where I have been accumulating different tabs in different groups. Now I have a new laptop that is becoming my main machine, while I keep my old (now secondary) machine also in use. When I open chrome on my new machine no tab groups open in it. I can find the icon for Tab Group Manager and I can select and open my saved groups that way but if I make any changes in a tab group's content (remove and/or add some new tabs to the group) it does not reflect on my old machine. Ideally I would be happy to see the same tab groups on both machines, synced at all times. Is the above beyond programing possibilities? Or is it already part of the functions of the extensions except I couldn't make it work this way? (In this latter case, can you please direct me on how to achieve full synchronization on two laptops?) Many thanks, Attila

When I choose orange or purple as tab color, then the tab title appears in white font on white background in the tab overview of the Tab Group Manager. As a result, the tab title is not readable there. Many thanks to you. EDIT 11/04: Bug is already fixed. No problems with tab colors any more. : ) PS Will you continue to maintain this extension, and is this the right place to post issues? Thanks for your efforts. : ) ⸻ (2) - 11/2023 ⸻ Hi Eiji, thanks for providing the Tab Group Manager, I really like it for its simplicity and still use it a lot. I experience no technical issues in 11/2023. : ) During my usage last year, I came across the following: Some of the applications I use automatically log out within 30 minutes. Then the URL changes to ".../logout.htm". This is saved automatically. When I reopen the tab group, I have to get the start URL again and copy it into the tab group, which is a bit cumbersome. Would it be possible to provide an option next to each tab group in the group list that prevents the group content from being updated automatically? Or could you even provide this feature for the URLs within the group as well? Thank you for considering this. Martin

- (2023-09-29) *: Slow and dumb. Each opening reloads group data from scratch which lasts forever. Has permissions to history and bookmarks for no reason.

- (2023-04-24) Heath “rolltidehero” B.: Very nice! The only features that seem to be missing are: 1. Save Tab Groups (Manually and Automatically) 2. Create Tab Groups (Using custom rules like regex and domains) 3. Backup & Sync (Across multiple devices) If it is open-source, I would be happy to contribute. Please forgive me if these features are already implemented but I just haven't found them.

- (2023-02-10) Eric Shienbrood: The extension works very well, but there's one problem. It seems to capture the ctrl-P character and uses it to open the extension. Unfortunately, it does this unconditionally, even in full screen apps. This means that I can't use ctrl-P in applications like Cider-V or Chrome Remote Desktop. Is it possible to provide some way to disable this, or make the activation key configurable, or better yet, have the extension detect when a full-screen app has the current focus and simply not respond in that case?

- (2022-09-24) Troy Robinson: EDIT 09/24: Seems to be working again. Not sure if the developer made an update or if the extension has just been finicky with my browser. EDIT 09/19: Dropped my review down to two stars because the extension is no longer retrieving my tab groups. Suddenly said "No Tab Groups Found." The extension was otherwise performing well. Brilliant concept: Tab Group Manager is such a simple way to manage tabs and persist them using Google's own tab groups and bookmarks. Pretty much exactly what I've been looking for for years. To the creator: thank you for making this! One request, if you could enable, within the manager list window: 1. sorting the saved tab groups :) Bonus needs: 2. sorting tabs within those list-view groups, 3. moving tabs between groups from list-view, 4. selecting multiple tabs to move. 5. adding-to/deleting a tab within a group without opening the whole group in chrome. 5. keeping the group saved and synced even when it is opened. Really though, number 1 is the only essential one for our workflow. Thanks again!

- (2022-09-11) Ed: YES! Exactly what I was looking for! How are no other extensions leveraging native tab groups & bookmarks? One more thing that might be nice to have is a way to store the tab group color, maybe by creating a meta bookmark within the folder that includes that info?

- (2022-08-23) Yaman: I can't believe this isn't one of the most widely used extensions. It's so useful and easy to use with a simple interface. If you like using Tab Groups in chrome, this extension is a MUST HAVE. It could use a better description but the image shown is fairly self-explanatory: When you make tab groups they are saved under this extension and you can reference, close, or reopen tab groups and their corresponding tabs at any time and also from any device. Great organizational tool!
