An optical character recognition (OCR) extension to extract text from snapshot.

This extension can be used as an OCR tool when reading protected pdf files on Chrome.

This extension adds a button to your browser toolbar. After user clicks on the button and select a region, the extension captures the snapshot from the region, recognize text inside this region, and return the result to the user.

Vance Cassin 2022-04-16: I used to love this extension. But since it started asking for money and chrome sync (which isn't possible on browsers like Brave) it feels just bad. I am not saying that asking money for your service is bad thing but there are a lot of OCR softwares out there any on an average 2000 people use this extension, hardly any money can be collected from this. It was just awesome 6 months ago. No slow recognition, no asking for money, no login require.

The5armdamput33 2022-04-08: I have been trying to use it to read manga online, and while that might not be the intended function, I think it would still help if it was able to read vertical text, because often Japanese and Chinese is written vertically... Instead of reading the text as it is meant to be read, the app reads the first character of each line horizontally, followed by the next character of each line and so on... This makes an incomprehensible mess that is impossible to read... - Using the above paragraph as an example: "Ihm noe srs tis ez aot..." (if read vertically)

It's of no use to me if I can't copy the text. I have to instead type the text which I can do even without this OCR. Please developer look into this problem. I don't want to remove it because it's the best in its business but currently, it's useless to me. I hope you'll make the amendments. Thank you for your valuable efforts into this.

Ali Asif 2021-10-26: Exceptional translations! This is by far just as good if not better, IMO, than Ichigo Reader due to the fact that the latter charges $8.99 a month to use their translation services when this charges none. I'm really enjoying using this app guys and I hope that you continue to build upon and improve its usability going forward.

ñööß 2021-06-16: Very good OCR, only problem I've had with it is that it can't scan previews of PDFs, but works great with everything else. Highly recommended that you install this, great quality OCR, to say the least.
