Is it actually free: No, You need to pay for the Voices. Specifically from a third party source. Does it work?: No, not unless you purchase the voices with “tokens.” Is it as Advertised: The video provided is very misleading. “Best Text To Speech Software With Natural Voice For Free.” And later it contradicts with the description that indicates you have to pay for the voices. The only thing that is actually free is the application but not the voices to come with. Why the stars? This application does not assist in productivity or accessibility. Even if the cost change was on Microsoft's end the video doesn't provide any footage of the program being used. Which was what this review would be based on, but again there's no footage. It also doesn't provide any voice samples as well. (How to fix) My recommendation: Provide voices, plain and simple. Change it so there's an actual interface for your users. However if worse comes to worse, Microsoft Word has a read Function in the review tab. Microsoft has text to speech provided on the computer for free.

- (2023-04-14) Malcodrem Roltreas: When 9883 characters are entered on the Microsoft demo website, a token cannot convert them to speech, which results in the download button not responding, and the message "This page is not responding" being displayed. Google demo page doesn't work at all with more than characters.

BUT now, you made it available only if I pay money .. I hope you help me use it freely especially because we have exams coming soon. I understand the need for exposure, but this is not the way to do it. Should be better if you had put a video player that wasn't hidden at least. I do not trust this extension by any means. - (2021-08-14) endy: It's working fantastically! I just copied texts to the Google TTS website (*1) and select "SPEAK IT". Before the "SPEAK IT", of course it's allowed to partially change the text (*2). Finally download an mp3 file from the player inserted on the TTS website. (*1) https://cloud.google.com/text-to-speech/#put-text-to-speech-into-action (*2) For example, insert "." (period) to add some interval or substitute "\\\\" to "4 backslashes" for TTS to read it correctly.
