Forces 1080p and 5.1 playback for Netflix.

Description from store
A way to finally watch Netflix in the highest quality possible. This extension forces 1080p FHD playback, as well as the option to force 5.1 AAC playback.
Normally, Netflix only plays back a maximum of 720p and AAC2.0. However, with this extension, those restrictions can finally be removed.
***
Out of the box, Netflix-1080p just forces 1080p AVCHi streams to be included in the streams for playback. However, there are a few options you may tweak in the extension's options menu (all left unchecked by default):
- Use 5.1 audio when available: Netflix normally plays back AAC2.0 in 64kbps and 96kbps. However, by checking this option, you override those streams for 128kbps AAC5.1, which can take advantage of surround sound setups!
- Automatically select best bitrate available: Checking this option allows you to always playback the highest quality streams, no matter how fast Netflix thinks your connection is.
- Use VP9 instead of H.264: For older computers, decoding VP9 in software can be faster and more efficient than decoding H.264 in software. Check this option if you notice slowdown or dropped frames with 1080p AVC playback.

- (2024-04-18) Sarah: Still working for me on opera on linux
- (2024-04-17) Jason Arencibia: I've had this extension for awhile, I know it worked when I installed it. But I just disabled the few extensions I have due to it taking 30 seconds or more for Chrome to load, and one by one, I came to this extension as the cause, it instantly loads with even uBlock Origin, but 30 seconds with this extension. it's broken, has an external resource it can't load, something is causing it to silently error and take forever. it's the only explanation. EDIT: Exploring the extension files, I noticed it does have an options page which doesn't actually work from chrome's extension manager. editing the manifest file allowing the options page to load in tab again does make it work. but the long load time persists. it's not that... Whatever update was made last month has completely broken this extension. and not in a good way, if they couldn't get it to work, they should have it just disable itself, maybe a return true; that the head of the loader file to make it just not load.
- (2024-03-26) Anonymous Gamer: I had a Netflix error UI3013 This is the first problem I have with your extension, normally it works very well, thank you!
- (2024-03-25) Carlos Nunes: A update has happened an this plugin crashes Netflix playback, only after disabling it I'm able to play Netflix videos
- (2024-03-23) BaK: This has been flawless in order to get surround for years, today Netflix broke it. Error code UI3013 like everyone else. Hoping for an update to fix this! 1080p now seems to be native now, so we don't need it for that anymore <ctrl>+<shift>+<alt>+Q while not full screen and you can see the stats, to see if you are getting 1080p. if you need higher res or surround, there is another plugin that's been mentioned on the github page (linked in this extension's info), if you know how to enable developer mode, you can use that.
- (2024-03-22) Karl: Hi, I had a Netflix error UI3013, so I cleared the cookies, but still got the error message. Then I found on a site that it could be caused by a 1080p plugin for Netflix, so I disabled your extension and Netflix works normally again. I wanted to let you know. This is the first problem I have with your extension, normally it works very well, thank you!

- (2023-12-25) Ariel Baldosano: Before, I can only watch 480p due to netflix DRM (which I read in a forum post that limits video quality if not using their proprietary application, and is also explain by Louis Rossmann in his video). Now, I can watch 1080p quality in netflix. So, ty for the extension. simple yet working correctly. like buying a plug n play switch. Before installing. Try watching a netflix videos and check the quality by pressing (CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + D) and look for "Playing bitrate". After that, install this. Refresh the page and check again. It should start playing at 1080p directly depending on your internet speed.
