Hover, preview

Description from store
The easiest and most convenient way to navigate through links/websites without leaving your current tab.
Hover’s chrome extension saves your time by letting you view a link’s content or a plain text by just hovering over it without opening it in a new tab.
1. Hover to view a link: Whether you are scrolling through a social media newsfeed, an e-commerce catalog, or even a mere link you have received, Hover lets you view the content of the link without leaving your current tab. Hover over any link for 2 seconds to view the content in a lightweight popup box. IT IS THAT SIMPLE. Hover on a link-> Indulge on the content as a pop up-> click on the parent screen when you are done and continue on the same tab.
2. Hover on a selected text to research-> You want to do a quick google look up on a certain text/phrase without leaving your current tab? Stop wasting your time opening a new tab and copy/paste to search. Hover lets you look up the text via a lightweight popup by mere hovering over the text after you select it.
3. Hot Key to research: Press CTRL+SHIFT+H to access the hover pop up to do a quick google search without leaving your current tab.

- (2024-06-13) d0x: needs a trigger key or time till preview setting because without the option... its obnoxious
- (2024-06-12) 鷲十鷹: I would like a trigger key to be provided. I would like the hover to only function when I press the Ctrl, Shift or Alt key.
- (2024-04-25) R S: Doesn't work on the site I need it most: Craigslist It adds " via gethover.app" to the preview links, and THAT's why it won't work on various sites. Please get rid of the " via gethover.app" so it will work on more sites!
- (2024-03-12) asghar kapakzadehian: not working on search engine websites and reddit
- (2024-01-18) TeeNam: it would be nice to have a setting for how long should the hover be in order for the pop up to appear, sometimes its a bit annoying trying to dodge the buttons so that the pop up doesnt show up. It also be nice to have only the hot key research on and the hover popup disabled at certain times, like when im view wikipedia for example. If the update fixes this I will give 5 stars, the pop up thing is really good when you need it. Also the hot search function too.

- (2023-09-06) cj juszczak: pretty great extension, but it needs an "options" feature, so we can change the "2 second delay" that is annoying. Let the user change it in E.G. milliseconds 0 (instant) -2000 (2 seconds) Also would be great to be able to change the pop-up window size, and position E.G. be able to drag-resize and have the option to "remember size", and also drag position and have it remember position too. Strangely doesn't work on some websites that other preview extensions DO, but overall this is one of the best :)

- (2023-03-13) Eric Kassel: Does what it's supposed to do and does it well. One thing that would make it better is if you could specify a modifier key so that it only displays the preview if you are holding down the Command key (Control for you PC users) while hovering over a link. That would reduce unintentional previews that sometimes occur when your mouse just happens to be over a link.

- (2023-02-19) Paul B.: Very nice. Some ideas for improvement: A big help would be for the popup to disappear on loss of focus instead of having to click it away. An [X} to close it so one doesn't have to click on the live background page. Incorporating a reader view so only article text would show would be super helpful. An override key to prevent it from taking effect would be good, or perhaps, with opposing logic, a key to make it take effect. Thanks.

- (2022-05-31) Andrew Robertson: I really like the app, it's clean and does what it says. Great! Although the 2 second delay causes problems. We do not have to hover over a link whilst reading what is around the link, then the popup opens and covers your screen hiding everything so you need to close the popup to continue reading the previous webpage. We all do it, but it would be great to have a little control over the popup. Ever since EzLinkPreview was removed I have been looking for something similar, and this is the closest. It would be nice to see a few changes though. 1. Hovering over a link could show a little icon, i.e. the Hover 'H' logo, so the user can decide if they want to click the icon to open the popup screen. 2. Or a setting of a number of seconds before the popup screen takes over the screen? 3. The popup screen is a little large, is it possible to allow users to resize it according to their requirements? 4. Can the popup be fixed and the user needs to close the popup by clicking the Close button in the top right corner? 5. Points 3 and 4 would allow more than one popup on the screen, allowing the user to assess between the 2 or more popups and how to proceed. Or a popup within the popup? 6. Is it possible to read pdf's in the popup? It would save a lot of time to not have to download each pdf and wait for your pdf reader to open it. As said, I have looked at many apps trying to do the same. Hover does what I need so far, and it would be great to see a few updates. Many thanks for your work!

- (2022-04-03) M K: slow (3~5 seconds for loading) , huge window (I won't call it a "preview") and not actually convenient (you need to manually close the window after it pops up).
