- (2025-06-07) Stephanie: Doesn't work. ANd the downgrade to Gdocs means that Microsoft just won the marketshare battle. Who's terrible idea was this? In making htis change, Gdocs has been made useless. The #1 requirement of any document editor is to be able to edit without having to be online. Plus, the extension doesn't add back that functionality. Geez, why not just sell to Microsoft? You've literally given them all of your customers.

- (2025-06-04) teve bah: The enshittification continues, and we have to install an extension to preserve a basic function of the program. We had a nice few years when tech more or less worked the way we needed it to. We, us, the people who do the overwhelming majority of the work. Need all the billionaires to take a long trip in a short submarine. Have a nice trip, fellas.

- (2025-05-27) Alphonse Ochom: Here's a structured outline based on your requested headings regarding the Algerian War of Independence (1954–1962): Introduction The Algerian War of Independence (1954–1962) stands as one of the most significant and brutal decolonization struggles of the 20th century. Fought between France and the Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN), this war not only led to Algeria's independence but also marked a turning point in global colonial dynamics, inspiring liberation movements across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The conflict was characterized by guerrilla warfare, terrorism, torture, and deep political divisions, both in Algeria and France. Brief Background Algeria had been a French colony since 1830 and was considered an integral part of France, not just a colonial territory. Despite this formal incorporation, Algerians—particularly the Muslim majority—faced systemic discrimination, economic exploitation, and exclusion from political power. French settlers (colons or pieds-noirs) dominated the economy and held privileged positions in society. Tensions grew in the 20th century as nationalist movements gained momentum. The outbreak of the Algerian War on November 1, 1954, marked the beginning of an organized campaign by the FLN to achieve independence through armed struggle. Over eight years, the war saw widespread violence, including atrocities committed by both sides. France’s efforts to suppress the rebellion led to international condemnation, particularly for its use of torture and repressive tactics. The conflict culminated in the Evian Accords of 1962, resulting in Algeria’s independence. Significance of the Study Studying the Algerian War of Independence is significant for several reasons: Understanding Colonialism and Decolonization: The war highlights the complex dynamics of colonial rule and the violent processes often required to dismantle imperial systems. It provides a case study in how deeply rooted colonial relationships could be disrupted. Human Rights and Ethics of War: The conflict raised profound ethical questions about the use of torture, terrorism, and the treatment of civilians. It sparked international debates on human rights, many of which resonate in modern conflicts. Impact on France and Algeria: The war had lasting effects on both nations. For France, it triggered political crises, contributed to the fall of the Fourth Republic, and shaped post-war policies on immigration and race. For Algeria, independence came at the cost of enormous human suffering and set the stage for internal political struggles. Inspiration for Other Movements: The Algerian experience influenced other anti-colonial movements, revolutionary theorists (such as Frantz Fanon), and became a symbol of resistance in the broader Global South. Contemporary Relevance: The legacy of the war continues to shape Franco-Algerian relations, debates about memory and national identity, and discussions about colonial history in global education and politics. 1. Brief Background The Algerian War of Independence was a nationalist struggle by the Algerian people to end French colonial rule. After over 130 years of French occupation, the war began on November 1, 1954, and lasted until March 19, 1962. It concluded with the Evian Accords and Algeria gaining independence on July 5, 1962. The war was one of the most violent decolonization conflicts of the 20th century, involving guerrilla warfare, terrorism, torture, and civilian repression. 2. Causes of the Insurgency Colonial Oppression: Economic exploitation, racial discrimination, and political marginalization of native Algerians. Lack of Representation: Native Algerians had little to no representation in the French colonial government. Economic Inequality: Land seizures by French settlers (colons) displaced many Algerians; over 80% of the population lived in poverty. Nationalism: Rise of nationalist movements like the National Liberation Front (FLN), inspired by global decolonization tr
