ADHD-based extension helps you cut out distractions on the page so you can focus on what actually matters

Description from store
Enabling the Focus Window extension hides most of the page behind a slightly transparent background to reveal a smaller area to focus on. In today's web world, sites can be a tornado of distractions such as banners, videos, sidebars, popups and other elements with the hopes of grabbing (and holding!) your attention. Usually this is a good thing because it helps us navigate websites quickly, but sometimes it can get in the way of the content we are actually interested in.
Great for long reads to prevent your eyes from jumping around the page and on websites that take your focus away from where you want it to be.
The Focus Window will follow your cursor and still allows interaction with items on the web page. The Focus Window was made to help users with ADHD improve their focus and attention but is available to all productivity buffs, life-hackers, and efficiency nerds that want one more tool in their belt to make the most of their time on the web

- (2025-02-25) Wangyou Zhang: Thanks for releasing this helpful tool! The extension is useful to bring me back to the text block that I was reading before a distraction. However, I do find some room for improvement: 1. Support for customizable area size. Currently the highlighted area is always fixed and cannot be adjusted. 2. Support for switching on and off in Chrome PDF reader. Currently I cannot turn off the extension easily once it has been enabled in a webpage. There seems to have some bugs when the extension is used in Chrome's PDF reader. 3. Support for pinning the area position. Currently the area always moves along with the cursor. I find it sometimes more useful to fix the position of the highlighting area and instead scroll the screen.
- (2023-01-11) Darien Weise (DW): It works! I like how the Focus Window extension only shows about an inch (or a rulers width) of the page at a time. It basically dims the rest of the screen and keeps about an inch of it visible in full brightness. It's actually kind of a great alternative to night mode as well. Often i find i like to browse the web at full brightness to see all the colours, but sometimes i just want to look at one area of the screen. . . May be a great alternative to the night mode for me if im working late or don't want to disturb my partner while they sleep.

- (2022-02-15) ViZionZ: AWESOME! Finally something to help me read easier. Wish it allowed for a smaller window though, this is still a little larger than I'd like.
