Is it required when I'm using my ledger? I whitelisted my public key that's on my ledger so I'm in a pickle..

The user interface is perfect - it's highly functional and more convenient to use than Casper Signer, the native wallet of the blockchain, which is just plain horrible. Casperdash is the way to go if you want a smooth and hassle-free experience with your Casper transactions.
