Skip silent parts in videos and audio files
"Skip Silence" is a browser extension that allows you to autmatically skip parts of a video that are silent.
It is highly inspired by CaryKH's automatic on-the-fly video editing tool (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ8orIurGxw).

The extension works with most websites that use a HTML5 video or audio element to play, this includes YouTube and Instagram.

The full source code of this extension is available on https://github.com/vantezzen/skip-silence, if you find any issues or have a question please visit https://github.com/vantezzen/skip-silence/issues.

This extension needs the following permissions:
- "activeTab" => Access the currently active tab to monitor the video or audio source's volume and speed up and slow down.
- "storage" => The extension saves the settings you set using the browser storage

We do not collect or save any usage or other data about the users of this extension.

I am happy with this extension. It saved me a lot of time:-) My only complaint is when the "Access permission" is set to "When you click the extension", the extension needs to reload the page. So I just left the default "On all sites"

Paywalls the best features that Jump Cutter does for free without a freemium layer. Just use Jump Cutter.

I LOVE this extension!! Saves me so much time!

with MS Edge has heavy audio-video desync after a few times of silence skipping at youtube
Josh
Works, imperfectly. The video tends to take a few seconds to catch up whenever the audio plays, so A/V gets out of sync often, but only temporarily each time. Additionally, when it does return back to normal speed after silences, it tends to still accidentally hasten the beginning of audio-that-should-play-at-normal-speed. NewPipe on Android handles it flawlessly in comparison, but this seems to be the best we've got as a desktop equivalent. It is definitely at minimum impressive how it works on quite a wide variety of videos across different websites.
