  • (2024-02-29) Noah: I really like the edge pdf viewer, and having the added functionality of edditing pdfs right in the browser with this extension is very worth it (if you have an adobe account already). My only complaint is that you can toggle the pdf editor on but not off. I sometimes want to go back to just the edge pdf editor for just reading pdfs or simple markups.

  • (2024-02-25) Clyde: The Adobe add-on is so much better than the Edge PDF viewer. Adobe is invasive with ads in the desktop app and occasionally has needy popups in the add-on. I hate to justify it, but it is much less invasive and malware-like than the Edge PDF viewer.

  • (2024-02-14) Noah: A much lighter, faster, and simpler alternative to the full desktop program. Think of it as a middle ground between the default Edge handler and full-blown Acrobat - it has all the features I need day-to-day and some advanced features but avoids the bloat. They recently added OCR and some new editing features, so I wouldn't be surprised if this catches up with the desktop version over time. I do sometimes miss the behavior customization/configuration options on the installed program. Two grievances of mine: 1) After editing a file, saving to the device/OneDrive (rather than Adobe Cloud Storage) requires specifying the location, redownloading, and "replacing" the old version - one cannot simply hit "save" and update it. 2) All of the conversion and file combining/splitting tools export to a zip folder, which adds a step to the workflow I would rather avoid. Also, for some users the lack of access to system fonts (aside from those that may already be in the PDF) could be frustrating.
