- (2021-06-09) Jennifer: I'm supporting my 17 y/o daughter, who just opened up about her truth. She was so scared to tell me, which is really sad, (privately I feel like a failure that she must've thought I'd react terrible w/ anything other than love, acceptance & support.) 1 ironic thing about it is- I had believed in my heart, for years, that she was into girls. In recent yrs I hinted to such, tried initiating loving convos about how everyone in the LGBTQ should proudly live their truths; how parents who react negatively are wrong: how I love & accept her no matter her identity or who she loved; and how that was unchangeable. I don't understand where I failed. I do wish that all of us parents could get educated by the young ppl who are not hetro, about the things we should say, do, talk about, etc., to make our children feel more at ease living their truths. Hopefully Im not failing her now! I sincerely & unconditionally love her, accept her, and am proud of her.
